  1. Oh well I guess I'll first have to get high to understand consciousness
  2. How?? Infinity means it is infinite in every direction, doesn't it?
  3. If consciousness is actually infinite, you can never, never ever be in a state of consciousness that is "less than infinite".
  4. Hi guys, I'm aspiring to become a biochemist or something rather similar, I'm currently studying biology at university in Germany. How can I make the world a more conscious place? Obviously psychedelics are a great instrument to radically change a person's mindset, and countless people advocate the use of them for this very purpose, however they aren't always educated in the right field. I'm also still struggling to find my life purpose so I see a potential connection. Do you have ideas how to develop this connection between becoming a biochemist, which obviously places you in the materialist territory and making the world a more conscious place?
  5. @Someone here Guess you're right.. I overthink shit too much and often, ain't helpful in this field
  6. How could something be "less than infinite"?
  7. As far as I understood, Karma is what you get when you think "I do" or "something happens to me", since it means "action". And getting rid of Karma is acting and experiencing without "I". Which would explain why the rebirth cycle would come to an end, since rebirth is nothing but re-identification through memory. Yes, that's related to my question, how could you re-enter into ordinary ego-consciousness after having attained Nirvana (though there of course can't be any "I" to attain Nirvana)? You can't? Then this is not Nirvana?
  8. 1+1 = 2 That's a fact, right? 1+1 = 3 What is that? An opinion? I guess it really depends on how you define a fact. The boundaries between facts and opinions are probably very fluid.
  9. When I browse through the forum, it sometimes seems to me, that some folks around here misuse Spiral Dynamics to judge people rather than to neutrally observe the behaviour and from that extrapolate and range their values. So my question is: how do I make sure not to accidentally/unconsciously judge people using Spiral Dynamics?
  10. Suffering has it's roots in several illusions which will be dissolved through enlightenment.
  11. Shunyamurti is what I imagine Terence McKenna to be if he would've been enlightened
  12. I assume this means that whatever explanation would be given to the question "what is a thought?" would be nothing but a mere thought as well and thus not explain anything at all?
  13. I don't know mate, I think asking for advice on mental illness on this forum is perhaps not quite coherent with the guidelines...
  14. Not quite sure if this is the right place to ask this, but have you noticed in some of Leo's Vlog entries, e.g. in the first video or the videos where he was in hawaii, (page 29) there's several roles of toilet paper just placed on tables or other surfaces across the rooms, I was wondering, what on earth is that about? Some Self-Actualization-gimmick we don't know about?
  15. I think Leo covered those pretty much already with his episodes on survival and fear. Pain is a signal that helps form/identity to maintain itself, e.g. when the body gets destroyed or wounded, pain is a signaling mechanism. However, pain is not equal to suffering, as one can see with masochism, where one might thoroughly enjoy pain, because one is not resisting to it. Hence suffering is the result of: pain (signal that form/identity is dissolving) + resistance to that process.
  16. I can't quite believe that this hasn't shown up yet in this thread. This organism does not have a single neuron and yet, it re-designed the subway system of Tokyo more efficiently than it is currently designed. I'm a german biologist and it really bothers me that so many scientists still don't want to accept the fact that this slime mold is pretty damn smart, tough it has no brain. The mind does not require a brain. That's a tough swallow for them.
