  1. How many republicans do you think who used to believe in the fraud are now convinced otherwise? Because the rest is still on the authoritarian side then.
  2. @Leo Gura Oh man, that's a pretty grave position. Why do you go that far? I mean, he will have a severe existential crisis and whatnot for sure, but killing himself? Seems a bit too much. @JosephKnecht I also think he had some experiences, probably with psychedelics rather than without - his mind would've never shut up on its own, he's too caught up in concepts. But I also think that he interpreted them in a Judeo-Christian context. You know, how Christians drop acid and see Jesus Christ, I guess he had a similar experience, but as you said, he doesn't want to lose his respectability as an intellectual. Which is why he so ungracefully stumbles around ideas concerning divinity with his rational-scientific, existentialist and phenomenological approach.
  3. No, the only reason those people became violent is because they can't express themselves in any other way. It's ideology pushed to a toxic and dangerous degree.
  4. Don't know where you live but in Germany policemen don't shoot because it means an absolute shitton of bureaucracy and legal consequences for them lol (and because we're more civilized of course)
  5. Yes but you can't compare Europe with the US.
  6. @Someone here Hmm, is the question "is solipsism true and if yes, how to overcome it?" really the important question? Or should the question rather be "so what? Who cares?" Because it really doesn't matter I think. You came up with the problem. It's like having an issue with the clouds being grey.
  7. Emmanuel Cleaver ended his prayer by saying "Amen and awoman." I wouldn't even expect stage Green to ever go that far, but here he is; a priest who gendered the word "Amen"
  8. @Adamq8 Where were you before you were born? Nowhere, right? Right. So, you came from nowhere. In other words: you were already here. Birth and death are like the south and north pole of a magnet, they are One. Therefore, when you die, you go to the same place where you were before you were born: nowhere You see? To be born is to come from nowhere and to die is to go nowhere. What does this tell you? It tells you, that you were never born (since you didn't come from anywhere) and you are never going to die (since you're not going anywhere). Look at the word "nowhere". no-where / now-here They are the same (although this isn't actually related to the etymology of the word, but it's true anyway). It might be a bit difficult to understand that birth and death are identical, but look at it this way: let's say, that being born is like waking up and dying is like going to sleep. Aren't falling asleep and waking up the next morning happening at the exact same moment? That's like birth and death. The moment you die, you wake up. Only "you" are going to die. But that's like your thoughts coming from nowhere and then going nowhere. And as a matter of fact, it's not only like your thoughts, it actually is your thoughts.
  9. Why is Japanese culture becoming so popular in the west? What is it about it?
  10. @hamedsf Just so you know: https://www.msnbc.com/the-beat-with-ari/watch/owned-watch-ted-cruz-contradict-himself-on-trump-voter-fraud-ploy-98784325864 So... it's really not about what Ted Cruz has to say. Although he is right - Trump is a 74 y/o child who blames everybody but himself. He would never admit that he's wrong or losing, ever. If all the republicans in the US were all of the sudden to say "you lost, Donald", he would still not admit it.
  11. @Javfly33 That's because you confuse human/animal intelligence" with real intelligence. We're not talking about human intelligence (although it is of course part of universal intelligence). Infinity means EVERYTHING. So yes, Brahman forgets itself completely because it is infinitely intelligent, not because it is stupid. God is not a dude. Don't project human ideas on it like saying as if there's some entity who has a certain level of cognitive ability or whatever.
  12. @LastThursday No. Forget about "should". There's no way in which anybody "should" live. Do you tell the trees how they should grow their branches? Of course not. Why not? Because all branches grow just the way they're supposed to grow, even if they're crooked, or short, or thin or whatever. And your life isn't any different from the trees. Of course if you like, you can live your life in a way that involves "shoulds". And you can even get neurotic about it "oh no, I'm not where I should be, I'm not doing what I should do, I am not the way I should be!". You can do that. It's just another branch of the tree. As I said: all paths are correct - because in the end, your life is of course only one path, one tree, one way of development and therefore the right path, you see? Whatever you do, is the Dao. And it doesn't matter whether you see this or not, it's true anyway. If you now say "Aha! I'm a tree that can't grow in any wrong way, therefore I can go do whatever I want to do! I can live an impulsive life full of short-term pleasure without thinking about my actions!" then you haven't understood that you are the tree, regardless of what you do. Otherwise you wouldn't try to prove it to yourself.
  13. "Every path is the right path. Everything could've been anything else and it would have just as much meaning." Mr. Nobody
  14. @Gretchen Bitang You expect to understand mind by using your mind. No go. Step away from it, so you can see. That's to under-stand.
  15. @Muhammad Jawad It's possible, yes. But it depends on the person, it's different for everybody. I already felt my ego dissolve at 1 gram lol. Some people need more, some less. As Rilles already said, just take more. Some say that weed intensifies their trip and that it shortens the come-up (the come-up tends to be a bit uncomfortable and uneasy). Anyway, what do you expect?? "multiplied by 100", what's that supposed to mean?
  16. I'd like to create a thread where we can collect quotes and/or stories from the ancient holy scriptures that are basic to the religions and spiritual traditions all around the world. The quotes/stories shouldn't be random, obviously, but related to mysticism & spirituality, consciousness, god, nature of reality, love, etc.
  17. https://humanbenchmark.com/ Some really cool tests to gauge your cognitive abilities.
  18. This is probably the most beautiful illustration of the idea of "emptiness" or "Shunyata" that I've ever come across. Imagine an infinitely extended spider's web, covered with dew drops in the morning. If you inspect one of the drops, what would you see? You would see in it the reflection of every other drop! And what do the reflections contain? Also the reflections of every other drop. So every "individual drop" actually consists out of every other drop and has therefore no individual self. Thus its true nature is emptiness - empty of a separate self. What a brilliant idea. It's an infinite fractal, containing itself everywhere and completely. What a gorgeous image.
  19. @Carl-Richard Ok I thought you meant some reductionist sort of thing (isn't that what everybody associates with "mechanical"?) What do you mean?
  20. I can't describe how much I love this song The beauty of it is just absolutely overwhelming, brings me to tears❤
  21. @zeroISinfinity You mean his "prediction"?
  22. Bible, 1 John 4:7 - 8 ; 4:12 ; 4:16 - 19 7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. 16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. 17 This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. 18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. 19 We love because he first loved us.
