The Shiite did not emerge until later when the 3rd Caliph, Uthman, was killed (biggest turning point). Muslims were pretty much in consensus with the first three Caliphs. Not many of them disagreed, and even the ones that disagreed did not have a strong position against them, because they were known to be close to and would have definitely been recommended by Mohammad. When those three Caliphs were all dead, Ali had to rule. But apparently Mouawya had something else to say. Muslims then got divided into two groups, one supporting Ali (Shiite), and the other supporting Mouawya (Sunni). At that point, Ali had the majority to his side. Eventually, he got killed too. And Mouawya ruled after that and started eliminating Muhammad's relatives so that he and his descendants could maintain the caliphate for themselves. That's where the Shiite-Sunni conflict became a real issue, because anyone who supported Mohammad's relatives was perceived as a betrayer and was tracked down and killed. The core problem is political, and the rest is just religious nonsense to further strengthen the beliefs of righteousness. I believe most of it is made-up. Btw, Mouawya did not accept Mohammad either until he had no other choice. He was a very proud man, and he could not accept any other family to rule him or his family. So he wasn't even Sunni. He invented Sunni vs. Shiite to get to the throne. Furthermore, many Muslims accuse Mouawya of killing Uthman, though indirectly, i.e. by hiring a hitman/giving orders. He's called "The Mahdi", and it means The Righteous One. Both Sunni and Shiite believe that he's real. But the difference is that Shiite think that he's one of Ali's offspring, and that he ran away from the swords back then and went off to hide in some cave. They believe that he's alive right now, but waiting for a sign from Allah. Sunnis believe the same thing minus the aliveness. They believe that he's from Mohammad's offspring, but he's unknown and could be living among us right now. But he is just a normal human being with a normal human life duration. He's on point there, because he is implying the difference between their teachings at the same level. I don't see how they're at different levels because they're both authoritarian and dominated by power. So they're Red/Blue at best. And both of them have Purple beliefs, so I'm not sure how they're different. -

Are there people who regret death? -
I really don't know. Even life purpose, as great as it is, is not the ultimate answer. I mean these things help, that's for sure, but there isn't an objective thing out there called "people-pleasing" that we eliminate by doing certain things. Rather, it's something that you catch yourself doing and you feel bad for doing it. I think the ultimate answer is in how you feel. If you have good relationships and you feel good about yourself, then what is there to improve?

@Leo Gura I guess you're right for not seeing the negative effects, because you live in America; the world's biggest economy. But I would leave the luxuries out of the picture for now and ask you a question: When you say consumer goods, does that include food and basic services (clean water, electricity, gas, internet, transportation, education, etc...)? Are these things getting cheaper? Or are you getting taxed more? -

@Someone here Interesting! For me, it's way too far ahead, so I don't know a lot. It's still just a few vague ideas floating in my mind. Although, I think it's absolutely possible with good research and studying, and then practicing. People have done it before science, so it must be easier than it seems. I could make use of all the discoveries that have been made and integrate them into my farming system. It would be foolish to disregard all the progress and evolution. But I want to be independent even of electronic devices and electricity in general. I don't want to own a phone, a computer, or a car. Basically, I want to be independent of anything that I don't generate on my own/have control over. Usually, scientists/academics tend to be perfectionistic with their systems, because they are demanded to be, for the sake of maximum profit/production. My farm would only be supplying me, so I don't think it would be so complicated. There would definitely be a certain amount of effort in order to maintain the system, but I think it would be within my powers. Again, I don't know a lot, so I could easily be deluded. -
No problem. I'm not completely over it, so I'm still working on it too. I think, generally, there is a confusion between being a people-pleaser and being a good person. I notice in myself that when I am concerned with what others think of me that I try to please them somehow. Now that I have identified certain goals that I want to achieve, it's getting easier to not care. Having & following a life purpose is perhaps one of the best remedies for self-image issues, probably because it grounds thinking and behavior in an ideal that one does not currently possess, and that ideal provides protection against the compromises that we make when dealing with others.

@Someone here It's the equivalent of having a job and working out in a gym. May not be very comfortable for the body (or maybe only at first), but it sure is very comfortable for the mind. Work is inevitable in life, and life without work is boring. The biggest differences with my dream lifestyle are: Being completely independent of society, and acquiring the ultimate peace of mind (due to not having to think a lot). -

Not wilderness, but my ultimate dream is to create a farm or something like that, where I can plant crops and breed chickens and sheep and other animals on my own. I want to return to the good old agriculture. And preferably live like that for a few years, maybe a decade. And then I may return to society or maybe create my own. -

@Eren Eeager How did this insight change your relationship with OCD? Any improvements? -

@Consept You've put your hand exactly on the wound. When the money is focused amongst the rich, it necessarily gets hoarded instead of being moving in a flux. And this is the core problem of capitalism. -
It's not people-pleasing unless people are using me. I have developed the ability to sense when someone is trying to use me. And when that happens, I cut them off immediately. For example, there was that girl who I found attractive. I approached, got her number, and we started talking. But all she was talking about was her ex and how much feelings she had for him. She would not meet me in person and only wanted to text and gain my support. At first, I didn't know that I was being used because I had low self-esteem. When I realized that, I insisted on meeting in person, but she would ignore my requests and circle back around to grieving her ex. At that point, I said enough is enough. And I just ghosted her. Nowadays, she still texts me, asking how I am doing, but I either reply with emojis or don't reply at all.

When you ask: "What is ____?" In reality, all that question is asking about is a story about that particular ____. So, you already know what that ____ is, because you're directly experiencing it as it is, but for some reasons, a desire to hear stories about that ____ gets created. Then, the stories get confused for the actual ____, and then you get stuck in a loop. -

WTF is this thread about?! And the comments, LMAO! I think the closest female teachers to Leo are Teal Swan & Emerald (even though no human I know of has the same depth, excellence, & quality of work). But as far as I know, humans still aren't able to speak through their genitalia, so I'm not sure what the point is. -

He can't ban himself. -
She, sure, can. Or to put it better, she can turn her 10 looks into 5 with a poor personality, which is similar to how men are rated. In any social circle, I've noticed that the hottest girls are always the ones with good looks and good personality. If they have only good looks, they aren't the hottest. That's how they set the trend. Strong personality/high self-esteem dominates the market.

I have had one relationship like that, but it ended for reasons much stronger than the both of us. It was the perfect relationship where even when we had differences, we were able to communicate & compromise, and therefore work them out together, probably because we had similar agendas/interests/problems. My relationships with my family and friends are strong, because I can play the selfless role effortlessly and effectively. In real life, people like to be around me. I don't judge or suppress them, and I listen and give help. I don't have agendas, and so I just flow with life. Most importantly, I don't judge them for being selfish, because if I did, I would be the selfish one. There are toxic people that I deliberately avoid because it's impossible to have a good relationship between them. I try to surround myself with the people I like.
