  1. UC Berkeley Center for the Science of Psychedelics Check it out. It’s exactly what it sounds like.
  2. Hi, I have identified as post-conventional re: Leo’s latest video. It is very conventional (conformist, expert, achiever) so I survive as an achiever. Needless to say, I am not happy at work but I need this job. Until I can find something more Strategist, how can I survive in a conventional, high pressure workplace?
  3. I’ve been on antidepressants for 20+ years, and I wouldn’t have been able to do my personal development work without them. They don’t correct a “chemical imbalance”—that’s been disproven. They do help some people and are worth a shot if nothing else works. Ideally, no one would need antidepressants, but this isn’t an ideal world. If your doctor recommends them and they help you, don’t let anyone talk you out of them.
  4. Antidepressants are a mixed bag, but just say no ? to the benzodiazepines. They make a person physically dependent (even addicted) very quickly, and getting of them is usually difficult. Try hydroxyzine for attacks as needed, as well as an antidepressant that can also help with anxiety, such as paroxetine. Many non-professionals say not to take medication at all, but it sounds like you have some issues that could benefit from these medicines, so your analyst may have a good idea.
  5. @Hello from Russia I’m in a Spiral Dynamics group on Facebook where most of us has to have some yellow to even survive socially in the group for more than a month. Most of us are intellectuals, have advanced graduate degrees, etc. Apparently, a thought leader of chaos theory (something I know nothing about) is also a member of the group. It would be interesting to run a poll to see if anyone has kids and how many. That said, I am a fairly attractive female, age 39, and have never been married and have no children. I am dating an orange/Achiever 50-something millionaire who also has never been married and has no children. We’ve focused on our careers our whole working lives, and time got away from us. Also, from our perspective we just don’t jibe with most people because we think independently and value our freedom. So yes, we failed to pass down our genes ? but most people just aren’t like us. We may end up together with kids in the long run (not that long as we’re getting old!), or we may end up like Oprah and Stedman ?. I live in a blue area where blue people do reproduce, but until very recently it was only at replacement level for most ethnic groups. I’m not sure if this year and next will see fewer or more babies than average due to COVID19. If people were intelligent, there would be fewer, but lockdown left a lot of people bored with nothing to do so ?. I do not see any babies for me in the near future.
  6. I’ve encountered men who believe that way. The problem with that POV, even from the rapist’s perspective, is that you get what you ask for. One male I spoke to was very upset that all of his girlfriends were sluts and whores. They all cheated on him and had no self-respect, no class, no ambition, and were not marriageable. I laughed at him and asked, “What did you expect? If you think all women are sluts and whores, you will only be attracted to sluts and whores and vice versa. The high class women you dream of banging will be repelled by you.” Now, before you fuss at me about my interpretation of that perspective: 1) An amoeba has no concept of rape because when it reproduces, it does so by mitosis (it splits in two.) To an amoeba, there is no such thing as rape. 2) To a human at the red stage of spiral dynamics or the opportunist stage of ego, rape is an act of dominance of the strong over the weak, and it is right to be strong, so there is nothing wrong with rape. Rape can likely be justified at other stages, but those stages it is the most obvious to me. 3) At very high stages of consciousness and ego transcendence, free will is an illusion, and so is the body. Rape (at a lower level of consciousness) is generally considered a violation of the body and free will because there was no consent, so at that very high level of consciousness, rape cannot exist, either. That all being said, most humans in Western society exist at a conventional or post-conventional ego state and are at blue/orange/green/yellow parts of the spiral, where rape is viewed as real and most certainly wrong or at the very least illegal. To get along with the rest of society it’s socially advantageous to understand that viewpoint, but it’s even more helpful imo to understand the others, at the very least for self-protection.
  7. I’ve read about people who do this already. Get a Ph.D. in counseling psychology and certification as a life coach. Then start a private practice doing whatever you want to do. That way, you’ll have the credentials and the practical experience to work in psychology but also the ability to work along the fringes of the field and do whatever you want to do.
  8. This what I am going through right now. Of course, the pandemic isn’t helping all that much. That said, I think I have evolved a lot since I entered COVID-19 isolation. I agree to an extent. They say you’re the average of the 5 people you hang around most, but I’m the only one into spirituality, personal growth, spiral dynamics and metaphysics. My interests are kind of isolating, but it’s my choice.
  9. Be present. Be honest. Be real. I realize that sounds simple and obvious, but try it. Be the most you can be with this person. If it still doesn’t work out, you’ll at least know that you gave it your all.
  10. Sorry if I missed it, but I really enjoyed your “Why Women Fall for A**holes” video, but I couldn’t find a video like “Why Men Fall for B**ches.” Men say they want the angel but fall for the wh*re. I’m curious to hear a man’s perspective on why.
  11. I just want to let you know from a patient's perspective that you may be idealizing the psychiatrist's role a little bit. The majority of psychiatrists I know are just as conventional as any other field, many are atheists at stage Orange, and they don't take too kindly to a belief in the supernatural or prescribing psychedelics. Some of them won't see female patients if they get pregnant, partially because they don't want to get sued due to side effects, and partially because they don't like the idea of the mentally ill reproducing (I have horror stories). What many psychiatrists focus on is medication management. There are psychiatrists who do what you dream of, but they have to start their own practices as they are swimming upstream. Also, many private psychiatrists in my area (southern US) don't even take medical insurance, leaving the poor out of luck or dependent on county services. You sound more of a fit as a general practitioner or integrative medicine. You will see plenty of mentally ill people in your practice should you go that route, and you will have more freedom to pursue multidisciplinary treatments as a GP than as a psychiatrist. I honestly feel psychiatry is not that great a fit for you given the current state of things, and that you dodged a bullet by not being accepted into a program. Sorry, but congratulations
  12. I view Earth as a giant MMORPG I call ”Earth School.” Every player has their own individualized game in this MMORPG. Earth School has a tough learning curve, and even worse, few realize it is only game and their character isn't really them, it's only a character in the game. People who realize their role in the game don't always fare well (Gandhi, Jesus, etc.) but they often get posthumous recognition. Once I started viewing life as a game, I gradually started taking it much less seriously. I have no urge to leave this adventure, but it’s not what I would consider “the real world.”
  13. @I Journey Your significant other has free will, so not every conversation is going to be what you think you want it to be. Also, what you perceive of as negative may not be bad from another perspective. Finally, not everyone wants you to improve during spiritual development, some want you to stay exactly where you're at so they'll stay comfortable. I hope this all makes sense.
  14. Not everyone handles marijuana well, just like not everyone handles alcohol well. I can drink a little alcohol at a social gathering, have a nice time, get a ride home and think nothing of it. My friend is a recovering alcoholic, and even one drink for her is unthinkable. Why? Genetics, most likely. Maybe a bit of environmental factors. But not everyone handles alcohol like I do, but that says nothing about them personally. It’s the same with weed. Marijuana seems OK for most people, but some people should avoid it. Some doctors say people with a family history of psychosis should avoid it outright. But whatever your history is, listen to your body. You seem to have a bad reaction to marijuana, and that is OK, but realize it probably never will get better and it’s just best to avoid it. There are other ways to relax without toking.
  15. LOL. Well, in the normal sense of the word, I exist, I'm on planet Earth, I am human.
  16. Insanity and enlightenment are not mutually exclusive. There are cases of people having to go on anti-psychotic medications after doing psychedelics or even just a 10-day meditation intensive because they overdid it and they now need meds to function in consensus reality. Psychiatry would call them psychotic -- which shows how far psychiatry has to go -- but I think a better explanation is that they overdid it and their brains were not ready to process the hard facts that life is a dream and our world isn't real. To be frank, these realizations are really, really difficult ideas to process even if you are ready. It's best to have some sort of spiritual teacher or spiritually aware therapist to help you navigate and integrate those facts into your daily experience. (Yes, spiritually aware therapists exist and are worth their weight in gold, but they can be difficult to find.) Until then, if I were you, I would lay off the psychedelics for at least a year or two and find a mentor ASAP to help you navigate these new levels of consciousness.
  17. Try this video of a turquoise doctor’s interview. He had a very winding career path but ended up predicting covid19 would originate from Wuhan, China. He integrates green ideals with systematic yellow thinking, with a turquoise ecosystem cherry on top. And most impressive of all is that his medical claims actually check out, satisfying any skeptical orange...but boy, does he rail against the US blue-orange medical system. I thought it was orange, but his personal experiences make me think there is a dysfunctional blue streak in that system as well. The best career path isn’t always the direct one. I know it wasn’t for me, and definitely not for this guy, either. But wow, this guy is legit. ?
  18. OK, here is the general problem I have with this thread. First, I will preface this by agreeing with @ajasatya I will also say I can't say everything I know; I had to sign an NDA with my employer and I obviously don't have access to all programs (but more than I'd say 99% of you here.) Second, I know people who have worked in the NSA/CIA/FBI/etc. I know people who have interned at NASA. I even know someone who has worked in Area 51. The defense industry is kind of small, so it's surprisingly easy to run into people like that. Judging by the "research" you have given (anecdotal evidence), my research is about as valid as yours, even if you disagree with it. In terms of spiral dynamics, the defense industry is very blue-orange and is primarily focused on developing technologies to neutralize the enemy. If we had access to alien technologies, we would be all over that shit, and we would use it to wipe out Iran or whoever our customer doesn't like that day. We're just not there. I actually think it's better that we aren't. We as a species can't handle that kind of power, and we'd probably be in a nuclear winter now if we had access to alien-level technology. On the research note, TV shows and YouTube videos are not what I would consider valid "research" either. I mean, that kind of insults what I had to do to get my graduate degree, or what people have done to get PhDs. Now, just in case you didn't think I tried, I did a two-week trial of Gaia, and I was really hoping to like it. I found it very uninformed and misleading. I really think it's irresponsible for a streaming service to pedal the "truths" Gaia provides when a little critical and systematic thinking can poke holes in arguments, even if a watcher don't have a strong science background. Suffice it to say that I was very disappointed. I think Gaia should stick to Yoga, but these programs have an audience, so oh well. A bit about me: I took the sdtest.us and tested in the green/yellow/turquoise range. I watched the actualized.org videos and felt totally attacked when I watched the yellow video so I guess that's where I primarily am. I am totally open to alien lifeforms. Judging by what I have seen and heard, I think they have decided to take a position of "no interference" with life on Earth. My opinion is that Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry called it correctly on that one. Another person who thought that was was Bill Watterson. He created an iconic comic strip called Calvin and Hobbes, and a famous strip stated that the best evidence there is intelligent life elsewhere is that it's nowhere to be found on Earth. Given current events, I rather would be on another planet as well. I don't think the aliens would want a dumb human, though. Back to the science: I have actually attended conferences about quantum mechanics and spoken to actual researchers about quantum computing. I am so interested in this subject that I want to get a Ph.D. in quantum communications. I have set a goal to start my program in a few years (which makes me wonder why am I wasting time in this thread *sigh*.) The first thing any of these researchers will tell is you is that Star Trek teleportation is impossible. The type of teleportation that actually *is* possible is photon-related, which excites me to no end, but most people would probably find that topic fairly boring, and it involves a lot of advanced math. TL; DR: The defense industry doesn't have access to alien technology as we would have wiped out Earth by now. I believe this because I work in the industry. Save your money on Gaia and buy a book about critical thinking skills instead. Yellow is a lonely, unpopular color . Aliens probably want to leave Earth the hell alone. Teleportation is for photons. This is my last post in this thread.
  19. I’ll bite. My employer is a contractor with the US government. Our top-of-the-line, classified technological stuff is nowhere near the alien stuff you see in movies. I mean it’s very good, the best in the world, but Star Trek teleportation is scientifically impossible, and many of the other things presented in movies are the stuff of fiction. And don’t get me started on Gaia.TV ? If we had access to amazing alien technology, we’d be using it to kill other humans, guaranteed. Since we’re still dependent on current human levels of knowledge, I’d say there are no alien contracts. As an aside, most UFOs are classified aircraft in development. It’s easier on us for the masses to say “Aliens!” so we just roll with it.
  20. I put Teal Swan in the same category as Aaron Doughty. She has some good insights, but she’s not always careful about what she says, which understandably can confuse a vulnerable person into believing the wrong things or even doing self-harm. There are videos about the Teal Swan- related suicides on YouTube, anyone interested can look Teal or those videos up. I don’t think Teal is necessarily evil although she sometimes has a cold, hard vibe to her. My concern is that some vulnerable people use her videos therapeutically when what they really need is psychiatric treatment. She should have a video disclaimer to avoid lawsuits because of what happened if she doesn’t already. You know, “The content of this video should not be taken as a substitute for medical treatment or advice...” While anyone can misconstrue a video, I think a reasonable person can foresee how some of Teal’s insights can be misused when placed into the wrong hands, and Teal should be a bit more careful in this litigious society.
  21. I saw a variation of this presentation at work. It’s a bit jargon heavy, but basically, a new strategy for cybersecurity is to develop tactics based on generating different models of hackers based on the behavior of previous cyber attacks. Does this hacker behave more like, for example, a lone wolf like Edward Snowden or a hacktivist group similar to Anonymous? Then adjust your tactics accordingly. The presenters are two PhDs from Lockheed Martin, and this strategy is a very cool example of yellow thinking. (I felt a bit cheeky during the work presentation and asked, what if the attacker doesn’t act like the model? ? They gave a very yellow answer: Improve the model.)
