He is not "missing" anything in his worldview. It's not the case that his understanding of reality is incomplete because he forgot to mention the significance of psychedelics or Love or whatever.

Ralston doesn’t acknowledge God/Infinite Mind in his teachings- that’s at the heart of it.

I find him to be more aligned with teachings of Zen. Where Ralston is spot on is his teachings on not knowing-clearly pointing out limitations of belief systems and self identity, distinguishing the difference between an idea and the direct conscious experience of a thing. This is highly valuable.

If we asked Ralston about God/Infinite Mind-he would probably see these as ideas. For him Awareness of what IS, is the backdrop of conscious experience (ie state of Being). He’s not wrong about this, but there might be something more fundamental than Awareness itself, that is Infinite Mind, which is the sum total of all states of being (includes state of not knowing and state of knowing).

The bottom line is that you have become conscious of what reality is.

No religions or New Age spiritual paths has this as an explicit aim. Which is fine- there are truths in religion and New Age but it helps to crest a hard distinction between those and Consciousness work (Actualized, Ralston)-two totally different things.

What helps me is separating spiritual work that is belief based (which most humans subscribe to) vs. direct consciousness/participatory/experiential based-which is grounded in metaphysics, epistemology, contemplation and deconstructing illusions, fantasies and biases. There are many tools and practices to do this-a lot covered in Leo’s content.

I also find the most religious and new age paths are more about feeling good in your body and emotions (healthy versions). Yet although it is healthy, it isn’t Truth — which transcends the need for good emotions, body and relationships. Survival can be healthy and unhealthy.. but it’s still survival. A big mistake or religions and new age is conflating what is good and healthy for survival with Truth.

Great video by Peter Ralston which summarizes this dynamic well:

There is no consciousness without something to be conscious of.

You seem hell bent on this particular argument. Until you let it go- you won’t get it.

Consciousness is conscious of itself. There can be nothing outside of Consciousness because it’s all that exists. There is NO reality without Consciousness .. Reality IS Consciousness.

Your mind is addicted to going in constant loops over and over. It’s fearful of there being an ultimate ontological tautology in understanding absolutely everything about reality and existence. A good exercise would be to contemplate why that is the case.

Consciousness is fundamental-you can’t escape it no matter how hard your mind tries.

  4. @Leo Gura it was a bold move to pivot your work to focusing more on the epistemic perversion of humankind and revealing its darkest secrets. I imagine you anticipated some kind of backlash from your followers, I personally think it was well worth it-

I don’t think any of us saw it coming, this raw and direct at least (as of late). No more softballs from Leo- every time I see a forum or blog post from you I brace for impact—it’s a gut punch oof 😓

  5. @Leo Gura is it too controversial to state that one’s capacity to realize God is primarily genetic? Be it through personality, innate intelligence or strong mental health which is not inherent in all humans? How much of it can be developed vs exclusive to personality traits?

I feel like this topic is danced around on the forum, to deal with the reality that your highest teachings can only be realized through proper genetics doesn’t sit well for us who value equality in spiritual matters- but the truth is truth I guess. Would like to know what your position is here .. as I’m unclear

  6. @Leo Gura You mentioned in a previous blog post the importance of state in Awakening, and how more theory is useless from a certain state of consciousness.

Im inclined to think a book leans more on theory than state itself, although theory is foundational in adding essential context to those who have had Awakenings.

How will you incorporate this into your book so that readers don’t swim too much in theory, or believe they have grasps something when they have not had a genuine state change? I’d imagine some form of disclaimer or adding a chapter highlighting the limitations of the book / books in general in realizing God.

Good luck, looking forward to what comes next.

  7. Glad Leo is posting Soft White Underbelly videos on blog, there is some good content there.

Seems like the interviewer (who is normally balanced, open minded) was giving off real manosphere-ideological vibes towards the end- being over critical of porn and its effect on men .. wish Addison pushed back more on that ..
