  1. Trump has been fabricating facts for 4 years ultimately producing his biggest fabrication of a stolen election. Truth is important, and ignoring the truth leads to violence. In the 1960s, the Supreme Court was dominated by free speech absolutists and they went too far in opening the range of permitted speech to include freedom for irresponsible and false speech. There was no social media in the 1960s, and the laws have to be adjusted to take into account the new technology. Truth is more important than freedom of speech. False speech is not protected. You can still be sued for defamation of character if the facts are false. Social media actors who fabricate false information to destabilize the government and incite violence should be criminalized. Banning them from social media won’t work because the Internet is a distributed architecture that can't be controlled and they can just create new platforms.
  2. One of the core systemic problems that is developing is that the 1st Amendment laws are not keeping up with the evolving technology. False speech is not protected speech. You can’t yell fire in a crowded theater. You tube is a perfect vehicle for scam artists. They construct elaborate conspiracy theories loaded with made up details and then present a false narrative using emotional imagery and sounds. Keep in mind that David Icke has convinced millions of people that the Queen of England is a shape-shifting reptile. Constructing a site like Alex Jones to create an illusion of credibility and fabricating facts in order to incite violence should be criminalized. This is well within the bounds of the 1st Amendment. False speech is not protected speech. Many of these people in the riots were white collar professionals who were persuaded by the fabricated QAnon conspiracy theory. Critical thinking skills aren’t taught in American schools.
  3. Trump now condemns the rioters who he clearly provoked while wearing his little black gloves. Ironically, they could get 10 years under an executive order signed by Trump for damaging federal property. He encouraged them and then threw them under the bus. They will now learn a lesson about the treachery of politicians. The news media in America is non stop 24/7 noise. In order to attract eyeballs, there needs to be at least one crisis every day. The show never ends. This turns attention away from inner work. I think one of the first steps to self realization has to be to stop watching the news, which is nothing but distracting idol chatter.
  4. According to the posts linked to at the beginning of this thread, Shunyamurti actually uses the word “apocalpyse” a total of one time at about 42.11 of the below video. He talks about the negative forces building and leading to destruction, which is a hidden blessing because it results in a world where the “I am” is dominant. The video was a year ago, and his message seems to be consistent. The genius physicist Stephen Hawkings came to the same conclusion using rational analysis and empirical evidence. “Hawking's rationale was that humankind would eventually fall victim to an extinction-level catastrophe perhaps sooner rather than later. What worried him were so-called low-probability, high impact events - a large asteroid striking our planet is the classic example. But Hawking perceived a host of other potential threats: artificial intelligence, climate change, GM viruses and nuclear war to name a few.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzFxUrAJQz0 https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-43408961
  5. The problem is that technology increases exponentially, thus delivering more and more power to low consciousness leaders and elites. It is like giving a jet airplane to a 7 year old boy. So we don’t have time. The damage created every time an immature mind applies advanced power multiplies. Even a nuclear war could happen at any time. So the question is why can’t spirituality increase exponentially too? Can the increase of aware people create a network effect increasing the spread of awareness? Why does spiritual awakening have to be linear? Also, technology could influence spirituality. If an effective psychotherapy develops that can reliably heal trauma, perhaps with the aid of psychedelics, that could accelerate spiritual awakening.
  6. The below video is a short summary of what Shunyamurti is actually saying about the state of the world. He talks about in order to get from our present low level to a higher level of consciousness, the world has to first go through a stage of chaos. The present order has to be disrupted in order to get to the next higher order.
  7. I have previously found negative stuff on the Internet (including those of this thread) for almost every “guru” out there. I have decided not to repeat any of it and spread hearsay information that I have no idea whether it is true or not. My opinion is that capitalism has distorted us all psychologically and turned everything and everyone in our sterile culture into a transaction. There is a deficit of love in our modern, capitalistic world. But one ounce of love will heal you more than reading 10,000 books. It’s interesting that for every one person that followed Jesus, there were probably hundreds of people who passed him by and didn’t see anything special. This seems to suggest that you have to be ready in order to have the eyes to find a guide at your level. If you follow Teal Swan then that is your level, because that is who you resonate with, and so forth. I actually like this video from Shunyamurti. He explains how we are all traumatized and how trauma impedes spiritual awakening. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6zh4t7KdxU
  8. From my understanding, Shunyamurti doesn’t say there is an apocalypse coming. He talks about how the current unsustainable situation is necessary to transform the world into a higher state of consciousness. I agree with this. Some things just don’t happen until you have a gun pointed at your head. Either do it or die.
  9. Begin by stop calling it “failure”. Mistakes are crucial for learning. Depending on what you are doing, you may even want to accelerate your “failures” to get the information needed to actually make something work.
  10. The second and third part confirmed what I suspected all along. She takes all her material from many different sources and packages it in an entertaining way. The man in the video at one point talks about how easy it is to fake spirituality, especially for people who have the gift for gab.
  11. For self love, I recommend "Love, Freedom, and Aloneness" by Osho.
  12. Biden won because he is boring. After Trump, that became appealing to many people. He ran a good campaign by being calm and not saying anything controversial or provocative. He didn't take Trump's bait and lash out.
  13. For me, it took about 5 minutes to have the God experience. It was the very first psychedelic I had ever taken and I had no idea what I was getting into. But the healer who determined the dosage was highly experienced and guided me on what to do. I’m glad that I did it with an experienced guide.
  14. How are they any different than us, since we are all one? What they do, we do. In a sense, they are the scapegoats of a dysfunctional world and carrying an unfair burden. The Western myth of the individual keeps us from seeing this.
  15. In the morning, at the end of your regular shower, turn the faucet to the coldest temperature, and wash in cold water for one minute. I actually put a timer on the floor, because one minute can be a long time. This gives me a lot of energy in the morning. I also wash my face with cold water.
  16. This is a great thread Commodent. Thank you. Mackler does an excellent job of exposing the pathologies of the mental health industry. If you are thinking of going to a therapist you should listen to the below video. It’s a shame, but not a surprise, that a man with this knowledge and sensitivity chooses not to participate any further in a disfunctional system that further traumatizes people instead of helping them.
  17. I attended a zoom talk the other day featuring Shinzen Young. He has been involved with several studies, including at Yale, investigating meditation with neuroscience. This is particularly exciting because Shinzen understands the enlightenment process and all the stages and believes science and technology can be used to assist the process. In the talk, he was mentioning possible “boosters” to meditation, such as yoga. He actually mentioned microdosing psychedelics to boost meditation but didn’t go into detail. Could it be possible that the present science based on the materialistic paradigm could be adequate to come up with a reliable method for attaining enlightenment? https://www.shinzen.org/
  18. This is why I don’t take anything serious that is popular in this shallow, money-driven culture. Peterson reflects back the prejudices of his followers thus making them feel validated. He is not an author who breaks new ground in understanding.
  19. I believe this is a result of social media. The main stream media no longer controls the source of news, and hence the source of reality making. Anyone now can create news and put it on YouTube, adding to the noise and confusion. Worse yet, there are tons of scam artists and psychopaths who are more than willing to take advantage of the new technology. Also, the main stream media itself is corrupted by money and power and is no longer accurate. I still remember the live speech broadcast with Colin Powell explaining in front of the UN with charts and photographs the “evidence” showing Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. How is this any different than the allegations of election fraud propagated without evidence?
  20. I had a facilitator tell me that occasionally he gets a person who will have no reaction (that’s zero) to ayahuasca even after being given 3 or 4 cups. He stops after that. If you view aya as just a “drug”, it is hard to explain that. It is a medicine, a plant teacher, a spirit.
  21. I have been told by a shaman that the plant medicines give you exactly what you need and what you deserve. It’s not a drug like aspirin where an effect happens automatically independent of your intentions. That is part of what the strict diet is about. To learn to sacrifice and make yourself worthy. This doesn’t make sense if you are in the “drug” paradigm.
  22. Follow your intuition and not your mind. For me, it is Mexico.
  23. I recommend reading Shinzen Young’s recent book to get a valuable insight into this subject. Shinzen’s life goal is to integrate meditation with Western science. He makes a distinction between “objective science” and “subjective science”, and he sees the Buddha as a subjective scientist. Shinzen also believes in the possibility of using technology as part of a scientific method for achieving enlightenment. https://www.amazon.com/Science-Enlightenment-How-Meditation-Works-ebook/dp/B01KUGQYJO/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=shinzen+young&qid=1605638117&sr=8-1
  24. I was told by my shaman, that the real work begins after the ceremony ends. The ayahuasca is still working for 2 to 3 months after the ceremony. It opens up your emotions. During your journey, you may have been downloaded information that serves as your homework, i.e. things you need to do or changes that you need to make. Try to look for this and integrate the experience into your life.
  25. He repeats the same familiar uninformed opinions, confuses psychedelics with alcohol (intoxication), creates straw man arguments, and seems totally ignorant of the scientific evidence that psychedelics are safe, non addicting, and have therapeutic uses. I don’t see any enlightened opinion here, but nice turban. Terence Mckenna is so much more informative and insightful in his talks and comes from a place of deep knowledge of the subject he talks about.
