  1. Stage purple is still relevant. There are still uncontacted tribes, mostly in Brazil. They are living meaningful and sustainable lives in harmony with nature and apparently have found no desire to walk up a spiral for the sake of self improvement. Their way of life is being increasingly threatened by the stage orange thirst for resources. https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20140804-sad-truth-of-uncontacted-tribes Spiral Dynamics does not show a growth of consciousness, but a growth in military capability. The tribal societies were destroyed by violence (e.g., the American Indians). They are whole and complete in themselves and can exist in harmony with nature forever if they are left alone. It’s modern society which is unbalanced and unsustainable. http://www.gobarefootblog.com/environment/how-many-earths-do-we-need-to-live/
  2. It's more about the connotation. https://doubleblindmag.com/what-does-entheogen-actually-mean/
  3. An observation that the present modern society is terribly unbalanced and unsustainable. People seek balance for their own stability and happiness.
  4. I don’t agree with Spiral Dynamics and its progress bias that puts “purple” on the lower end of a spiral. Anthropologists say that the cultures of the indigenous tribal people were as sophisticated and complex as modern society. Furthermore, their lifestyle is actually sustainable, unlike modern society which is unsustainable and threatening the very existence of the planet. And the argument that they were primitive and violent is the weakest given all the people killed in World Wars I and II. Also, people are generally happier when they are living in small communities and connected with each other. And their animistic beliefs in the sacredness of nature are missing in the materialistic modern societies which see nature as a “resource” to be exploited. Instead of a spiral, maybe there is a cycle from balanced to unbalanced to balanced.
  5. Stage Orange uses the word “psychedelic”. Stage Green says “entheogens”.
  6. I have been to ceremonies in Mexico, but not the US. Ayahuasca is safe as long as you meet the screening requirements, like not being on any antidepressants. The most important thing is to have a facilitator who knows how to create a safe space and take care of people. You could ask for a half or quarter cup to start, and take more later if that isn’t enough.
  7. Taking Ayahuasca alone is a bad idea. I have been to a lot of ceremonies and have seen many purges and how extreme it can get. Even a trip sitter is not going to know what to do if you freak out. You want a real healer who knows what to do and how to process the experience. The goal is to be healed, not retraumatized.

  9. You have stated the beliefs of the materialist perfectly. So pursue it and find out for yourself if it works.
  10. All happiness is non materialistic. Show me an object that has happiness that it can transfer to you. The happiness always comes from within you. So, the potential is already inside of you. Do you really need the object, which you have no control over obtaining, to obtain happiness? That is a rough expression of the idea. People who are “seeking” have realized they are on a hamster wheel and looking for ways to get off.
  11. The best liars are lying to themselves which makes them more believable.
  12. The danger is the same danger of using any powerful medicine without a doctor. The medicines should be used in ceremony or a safe space under the direction of a shaman. In ayahuasca ceremonies, I have witnessed many purges, where someone is screaming madness and filling multiple buckets with vomit, but then is happy the next day, because there was someone there who knew how to take care of them and help them to liberate. Doing “psychedelics” alone is entertainment and thus easily abused. But it is not the “psychedelic” (which is chemically safe to the body) that is the problem.
  13. The problem with materialism is that your happiness depends on fulfilling your desires but the results are beyond your control. Just when everything looks good, you have a car accident and are crippled for life. Or even in the best scenario, you are still on the hamster wheel trying to fulfill the endless list of desires. It never ends. However, your revulsion to the triteness of the non-duality fad is understandable.
  14. I trust the medicine.
  15. When LSD first started being used in the 60s, the scientists published a widely believed report that LSD caused chromosome damage. It wasn’t until fairly recently that the study was debunked. These are the people you are trusting. When you properly purge with Ayahuasca, the purging can push you into a deep state with intense visions.
  16. It's not making you sick. It is purging you. In the jungle, there are many medicines that just purge, i.e. make you vomit, and it is considered a natural form of detoxifying the body. That's the difference between medicine and entertainment.
  17. The traditional medicines like Ayahuasca are very safe. They have been used by tribes for centuries and would have been weeded out long ago if dangerous. That’s why it is good to stick with the traditional medicines. Also, a good shaman is very important. I have done over a dozen ceremonies with the same shaman and have seen him guide many people that were going through serious traumatic purges in a way that was healing. I can’t imagine what would happen to these people under the care of one of the many fake and unqualified servers. “I avoid synthetic drugs and prefer the organic hallucinogens, because I believe that a long history of shamanic usage is the first seal of approval that one must look for when selecting a substance for its possible effects on personal growth. And if a plant has been used for thousands of years, one can also be fairly confident that it does not cause tumors or miscarriages or carry other unacceptable physical risks. Over time, trial and error has resulted in the choice of the most effective and least toxic plants for shamanic use. Other criteria are also relevant when evaluating a substance. It is important to use only those compounds that do not insult the physical brain; regardless of what the physical brain does or doesn't have to do with the mind, it certainly has much to do with the metabolism of hallucinogens. Compounds alien to the brain and therefore difficult for it to metabolize should be avoided. One way of judging how long a relationship between humans and a plant has been in place is to notice how benign the compound is in human metabolism. If after you have taken a plant, your eyes are not in focus forty-eight hours later, or your knees are feeling rubbery three days later, then this is not a benign compound that has evolved into a smooth hand-in-glove fit with the human user.” Terence McKenna. Food of the Gods (Kindle Locations 3668-3672).
  18. Rapé is a shamanic snuff. It is not psychedelic. At the end of an ayahuasca ceremony, it puts you in a relaxed, peaceful space where you can sleep. It is quite pleasant.
  19. I have taken Yopo at Ayahuasca ceremonies. Ayahuasca is the grandmother and Yopo is the grandfather. Aya has feminine energy and Yopo has masculine energy. It is taken by having a shaman blow it up your nose through a pipe. Most people throw up before entering the journey.
  20. This is a beautiful medicine song. LYRICS QUECHUA: Heyo mayo heye maye he heyo maye heye. Puyumuyumuwan puyuwankumuwan waqaqta qawaspa wiqy ñawiyuqta. Quisiera ser como las golondrinas, volar entre las nubes y robarte el corazón" Lyrics English: The clouds surround me The clouds surround me, they surround me seeing me sad with tears in my eyes. I would like to be like the swallows, fly through the clouds and steal your heart
  21. “Guerilla Warfare” by Ernesto Che Guevara. The technology is way out of date, but it is an interesting historical text that it is still widely studied in US counterinsurgency schools and military academies.
  22. Ayahuasca and mushrooms are good for healing and going into the past and releasing trauma. There are visions and stories, so the mind is still very active. But when I take Bufo, it is so powerful that the mind has no choice but to drop away, and I am in the present. I have had deep samadhi experiences on Bufo. There are no visions or stories, just tasting existence.
  23. I actually prefer traditional Buddhism to neo-advaita and other western fads. It’s a religion which has a few simple ethical rules to calm the mind through correct action and a path of awakening without a lot of words or bullshit philosophy. I read Shunyamurti’s book with all its speculative theories. I don’t read this stuff anymore. I have since learned that intellectual minds weave complex narratives. The purpose is not to enlighten you, but to establish themselves as an authority to give them power over the gullible. It’s a trap. You will learn more about spirituality by being kind to your neighbor.
  24. The curious thing is that the professor isn’t equally skeptical of the reality of his everyday experience. I am more and more seeing modern civilization as just noise, i.e., constant chatter without any meaningful purpose. People are stuck in their heads and conditioned to form judgments on something in which they have no direct experience, thus cementing them in a prison of their own ignorance. What is called “mystical experience” is a glimpse of truth after the noise quiets down. Anyone who has experienced it knows that it is more real than the waking state. The rational mind trapped in its illusions has brought us to the brink of unsustainability and destruction. Hence the need for these altered states to clean the heart and change the values of the collective. It’s about survival.
