I am big on dance too and experimented quite a bit. I am 40 plus. I am living for couple years now in the philippines. My main project was to dance again. In Germany the environment is not beneficial for the project. Here I could even go to the disco and relive the disco lifestyle. It was a good time. I tried to do selfimprovement as well. That was not so easy. Dancing and music took I guess big parts of my brain capacity. I was music addicted even before coming here. I tried to get rid of the addiction and it kind of works. Karaoke is part of my daily routine. Without it I feel like I miss some senses. Anyway I will again experiment with dancing. Like in your case it's hard to come back and be productive after that. It's like taking psychedelics though I never took one but that is what I imagine to feel like. After couple years in the disco here shuffle dance became my routine. Later I looked it up on yt and it's quite a thing it seems. I come near the city where Rumi comes. I would like to see shuffle dance as the modern version of it. In China it seems it is popular. The comrades have some flow. Besides the usual candidates like Michael Jackson there was one scene from the a dance movie that had a massiv effect on me. So dancing became an important story for me: This video I think fits the context of my post. It's quite a ride with some amazing flow:

He would not agree if logic would get raped This is Bret Weinstein who foresee the crazy -
Chances are the streets will not be disorganized for too long. Gangs and warlords will take over. Later you might have a fascist government. If that is not enough the military might take over. That is the situation in Brazil.

The job is getting harder and harder. To the enemies are joining the accelerationists. https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2020-06-17/far-right-boogaloo-boys-linked-to-killing-of-california-lawmen-other-violence https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boogaloo_movement#:~:text=The boogaloo movement%2C adherents to,they call the "boogaloo". I guess the looting and arson should be done a little bit less.

One thing to take into account USA might have a PTSD Syndrom after so many wars. So the patient might need alot of rest and no stress.

Or it gives you the power to defend yourself. Otherwise you are dependent on others to protect you. If the other is not in the "mood" you have no alternative. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst, I guess.

@Preety_India You are optimistic. That kind of people are needed but there are also other kind of people needed to balance it. The time did not necessarily changed because you said so. There is no evidence that times really have changed. The most important thing is the worst case scenario. With other scenarios people can deal in general. Regarding future: yes it is important specially for people with children. They don't want to make to much experiments: don't change a running system. Balance is key between being reasonable and emotional. It's like hindi movies without singing and dancing and indien food without curry.

You can not compare randomly countries I guess. For example you can not compare Brazil with India. The people have different temperaments and different history. I guess the white Americans are maybe like the swiss people. Their guns are the symbol of their freedom I guess. I guess you can change cultures if you come literally with A-Bomb like in the case of Japan. They changed in one day. It feels like saying give up your language. English is the most practical language in the world why wasting time with other languages? Changing systems are very costly. It's like changing your operating system, your religion. Say to a muslim their religion is not ok for the modern world. They will not accept it. The gun owners have a point when they say that with guns they can defend themselves against their government that becomes tyrannical. Look at china, north korea, cuba, nazi germany. These things can happen. Things in life are not black and white.

Yes nice but maybe it is not the worst idea. When police wants you in handcuffs and you don't accept it you should get a choice in which way you should be taken down. With wrestling, jui-juitsu, tazered, strike, baton, one on one, group? It's nice to have a choice. I remember hearing a couple days ago that Seattle has some age old law where a man can find another man if there is consent. The police officer basically gets the job as a referee.

Yes true. I can relate. I was angry at my own culture and religion. Though I am still not a big fan of them I can find interesting, entertaining, enjoying parts of them through studying many other cultures. I guess cultures are very solid stories. You want to be really careful befor you try to replace it. If it fales there is a chance that it is irreversible. Plus we may need the lies to survive. It may sound not logic and counterintuitive ( I am going to use the word more) but still it can be true. The modern reality may not give us the stories (lies sometime) that keeps us going. Progress and survival can not be taken for granted. It's a wonder that one survives or people make babies. If the konservatives are not making the babies who will?

The quote is not from me it is from@Serotoninluv Anyway I agree with both of you

Well maybe. That reminds me of Brazil. The answer does not seem to be so easy. Specially now that a fascist came to power there. https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2018-03-09/brazil-s-strict-gun-laws-haven-t-stopped-its-killers

Something else comes to my mind. The US idea is also to create unity in diversity. That sounds like an oxymoron. Similar to be united and to be individuals at the same time. Many countries in the world don't believe in that but who doesn't risk will not win. I am not shure why the US is taking this massive challenge though. Traditionally it's because one wants to create or keep an empire. The US is probably an empire. Empires come from necessities to some degree. If they don't get big other empires might challenge them, start a war and win it. The US is an interesting experiment and it can work out. Many answers to problems have been counterintuitive. That is why science is so difficult.

I really liked what you a writing. I read many articles who described basically what you wrote. Still the numbers have to come from somewhere. Anyway I wish the best for Detroit. I had a conversation with a guy who said that electronic musik came from Detroit. I thought it's Berlin. Probably both are correct. House music is my limit. With ecstasy pills I may can handle it though I never tried it. I am living in the philippines. It is a matter of perception some say it's dangerous some say it's not. To be honest for my comfort level it's too dangerous but if you can find a nice then it may be worth it. So bottom line. People have different perceptions I guess. https://www.quora.com/Is-Detroit-Michigan-a-dangerous-place-to-live -
@Preety_India I agree 2 month sounds like a joke. On the other hand defunding the police sounds as even a bigger joke depending on the context. So police have a extremely bad training. So you don't want to give them money and training at all. Basically you want to abolish the police. (I mean not you personally btw.) The meta level seems to be class, education, culture, race divide in the country. It sometimes looks like making switzerland and somalia one country. If you really want to live together you will have some big challenges. The police is just one part of it I guess. What happens mostly is like in Latinamerica. Though some still love latinamerica more than the so called developed countries. It's complex. That is the only thing that is clear.

I think that is what societies work on it all the time. To solve problems with the most ROI. I read one scientist he talked about "social energy". Bascially the willingness and the capacity of the people to work and invest to better the society. If that is simply not there things will go down. Optimism has it's worth but it needs the right context. If you do surgery on the same body part over and over again it makes it dangerous for the patient. There are side effects to social experiments. Better to try the ones that are most reasonable. People have a different opinion about what is reasonable. So things are complicated.

I guess in the real life there are more gray zones about what is a threat. Let's say it is dark and you don't know if he has a weapon or not but he makes some extreme movements. Even if you are a super computer and you can figure out the threat level like robo cop you hava another problem. Let's say the threat level is some random figure like 1%, 49%, 99%. So how do you decide how the police officer should act upon the information? Should he go for kill shot? Or shold he go for the injuring shot. Then another problem arises. How can the officer asses his shoting level accuracy under this special situation? This all is very tricky. Another thought: let's say you have a pieceful community. Then new people arrive there. Let's say they are extremely violent. The situation of the officer changes dramatically. I would probably just quit if I have that luxury.

I meant with "programming" that children became learning machines in the schools. Later they became working machines. I guess many became miserable in the process like you said. I don't know if this totalitarian approach is worth it as a last resort. But on the surface they made big economic progress.

@Preety_India @Serotoninluv One perspective to look at it would be like this: We as individuals have our negative habits regarding dealing with situations. Let's say you are an alcoholic. Let's say you are not functional without alcohol. Now somebody comes up and takes away your alcohol . Maybe the person commits then suicide. Then it was maybe not worth to take away his alcohol. It can work out but maybe there are better ways like getting the person other kind of psychological help. Trying to do that in the system may be an option. I know there is the opinion it is impossible. That it was tried out. Don't kill the disease by killing the patient. The police can be seen as a general reflection of the society. Like your health could be seen as the functioning level of your immunsystem. When you have a weak immunsystem you will have all kinds of health issues. If you have a brutal society you will have a brutal police. Fix the source not just the symptoms.

I guess it might be a brainwashing with training people with scientific methods and or make it like a religion. Pythagoras seems to have created a pseudo scientific mystic cult. It reminds me of the programming of the children in asia. Hundreds of millions of poor became middle class. When I was a kid my hero was Galileo Galilei that kind of gave me a role model. Even if I could not become a scientist I could think partly like one. So I was able to think more rational than emotional. I think that was the way till the first world war till the wars happened and people lost their orientation a bit afterwards. Discipline, hard work, science may go against our nature that might be a problem. Biologically we are too much still primitiv animals. But maybe there is a way. Gamification is one great hope. The quality of apps gets so much better. Apps like duolingo to learn languages for example.

That would be great if that would be so easy. The more "nicer" they become the more they want to quit the job I guess. Yes bouncers and police are quite comparable. Additionally there is a gratification loop there. These alpha chads seem to get the hotties who like the "alpha" guys. The more they do the job the more addicted they get to the powertrips and girls I guess. Later the habits are to strong to change. Naval Ravikant says we all have to become scientists. It is a nice idea. I wonder if there is something to it.

I think it is not always bad to accept that one is more an observer than part of the party. Some can live the lifestyle of work hard party hard or live fast and die young. Others might be reconciled with the idea of being a sisyphus. After accepting it it might work out for some. At least it might change the perspective from so many superficial things. Sometimes rich and good looking people have problems with creating a persona behind the superficial. That might be hard to deal with. What seems to be over after 30 or 40 is the big pressure to fulfill the biological imperative. It's nice to surf or float without needing a goal.
-
One thing to consider is that "nice" people don't want to be cops because the working environment is so harsh. I guess if they have to do it in a rich and peaceful neighborhood they would do it. So because of limited ressources and manpower people with higher sadistic level might taken in to the force. Comparable to the military. As long the country is faced with crime these people with some dark triad might be needed. Ideally we could change the society quickly and don't need them. Still we are not seem to be able to do it in a efficient manner without problematic sideffects.

Thanks for the invitation. I don't think I will make it to the US in this life. I can only work with the limited information I have. I try to take both sides into consideration. https://www.bridgemi.com/detroit-journalism-cooperative/detroit-doing-better-how-much-thats-where-experts-disagree https://www.purpose.jobs/blog/9-reasons-to-live-and-work-in-detroit-michigan
