  1. This is completely normal. Not only normal, it is incredibly beneficial if used correctly. See the cringe as your sign to course correct away from the path which produced that behavior. I can assure you that I have most likely been far more cringe than you were, and I came out just fine once I recognized the degree of the problem and moved in a better direction. Example of my cringey past:
  2. Today I worked on shooting some YouTube thumbnails. They came out worse than I needed, but life is all about reps and XP. I learned some small yet valuable lessons for streamlining the process a bit on the next iteration. I’m about to do this workout now. I ate pretty spot on for my macros today and listened to The Way of the Superior Man audiobook for about an hour. Most of all, I got to spend time with my nephew and taught him some parkour and how to have more fun on a swing set. It was such a beautiful experience to help him develop proficiency in his interest in parkour. I can’t wait to be a dad one day.
  3. Nice! Keep it up man.
  4. I have the login for the proper account and can get online just fine. I just can’t find the way to get to the damn booklist.
  5. This is actually quite a big improvement. Definitely nothing to scoff at.
  6. Awesome stuff ?
  7. Thanks man. I’m already completely aware of this trap, but I appreciate the effort to try to steer another in a positive direction. That is highly commendable. I share this content with the assumption that everyone here likely already knows the issues with going too far in the direction of people like 1STMAN if other areas such as the more feminine and masculine areas are not developed as well.
  8. See here for the opinion of someone who looks like shit and enjoys deluding themselves as if this is the best approach to life. You shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but ask yourself if the content is the exact same, would a better cover not be ideal?
  9. Hard things give the best emotions in the long term
  10. @Kksd74628 nice! You should try out the app Strava for running. You can even share the stats for the runs here
  11. I had one of the least productive days of the past few months today as I focused more on socializing with some people in person I haven’t seen for some time and took a bit of a break from things, but I’m about to do this workout and ate within my macros (220g protein, 381g carbs, 75g fat) with plenty of fruits, vegetables, and lean meats. I think it’s really important to have at least a few positive habits you do everyday even on your lazy days. I’ll probably listen to the audiobook for The Way of the Superior Man also while cooking dinner once I get home. I really like the idea for this thread. People here are far too often just talking rather than actually doing the work.
  12. Really solid thread man. I’d love to talk more about this kind of stuff with you in the future.
  13. In the context of speaking with very experienced Buddhists, Dharma usually refers more to the teachings and insight rather than action. Right action is a step in the noble eightfold path rather than the entirety of the dharma.
  14. I second this line of thinking although I don’t know much about the individual being referenced.
  15. By saying you don’t have pride or whatever else seems to be coming directly from the illusory self, at least the way this reads. In true No Self/Anattā, the ego appearance is as full and prideful or meek as ever. There just isn’t a sense of self behind the appearance which before had a sense of self. In hindsight after posting what I said above, I will also add that there’s essentially no way to tell if someone has truly recognized Anattā because the individual is free to live life as themselves for the first time ever with “no condom” between “them” and “me” which allows the “me” to be however it wants to be without any capability to control itself whatsoever. This can look extremely ordinary to a spectator. You’re just acting like a human being in usually a rather predictable and reasonable manner as this is what often works best for the appearance of the human being to experience the appearance of its own field of experience as it most pleases. An analogy could be that the ego is like a mirage within a river appearing to control the movement of the river at all times, but once the mirage is seen as being a mirage, it is noticed that the river was always happening effortlessly of its own accord without a river to control the rivers actions. It’s just a living appearance of a river rivering in much the same way as a living and dynamic appearance of a human would be humaning.
  16. Who are we talking about? but on another note, the answer to all of your questions is: just this It's just this. Always. Not just me. Not just God. JUST THIS. What is apparent in this nanosecond which is gone in the next nanosecond. Any notions of God or Consciousness or Awakening or Enlightenment or Nirvana or Nibbana or Heaven or well.. etc. compare to what I am referring to. All of these labels, all of these concepts, all of these frameworks are too slow to keep up with or make any sense compared to THIS which has now already become THAT because it no longer IS other than how it presents as a memory of a tiny sliver of the full information contained in THAT when it was THIS. Idk if anyone here will understand what I’m meaning on the level I intend or rather hope for it to be understood, but the thing is that if you actually got it, you’d essentially laugh your ass off at all spirituality, philosophy, or anything else while marveling at the self-projecting movie which is directing itself in such a collapsed and tiny appearance of dancing impermanence completely out of control in front of, within, and without your own eyes.
  17. Because you’re not actually present. There is no such thing as being present and not being fully enlightened, however, there are countless people who think they are present when they are not.
  18. It depends on how long they last, but most men will be back to normal after 5-10 minutes.
  19. I have been clinically diagnosed with depression and ADHD and clearly see this advice as essential AFTER overcoming those issues myself doing exactly what he said, so maybe you’re speaking as if you have more authority on the subject than you actually do.
  20. What about an awakened millionaire?
  21. I’ve made a similar switch recently. I recommend reading/listening to the book The Lean Startup.
  22. Awesome stuff man! Sounds like you’re in a better place these days. I’m looking to do my first formal retreat on my next vacation time opening
  23. I spent most of a year off of work and using THC/psychedelics while meditating. I laid on my futon for the majority of that year. I was actually quite active with spiritual practice, moreso than ever before in my life, but I didn’t progress in any materialistic way or really any other area than spirituality. At a certain point I was immensely satisfied just having awakenings daily. Eventually I had to get a job for financial reasons. This lead to a bit more activity, but everything changed when I started going to the gym seriously. It was the basis of the change I made. My energy levels and natural motivation started to increase as I went to the gym more consistently. A lot of becoming more productive has to do with momentum. Going to the gym and doing serious training while improving your diet will probably change your situation easier/more than any other single thing you could do. Now I’m probably 10x more productive than I used to be.
  24. This describes it fairly well. They are essentially different flavors of a similar insight.
