  1. @LordFall if I started relentlessly spamming this forum with the raunchiest porn I could dig up, what would be the best course of action for Leo to take?
  2. It's effortless. How hard are you trying to grow your hair right now? Not at all... you do it effortlessly. How hard are you trying to think your thoughts right now? Not at all.. you do it effortlessly.. Trying to 'be like yourself' and trying to 'not be like yourself' are the same thing.. they are both 'what you are doing', which is 'being yourself', and 'being yourself' is something you are always doing... effortlessly.
  3. is this a direct quote, or, in this one instance, are you able to understand that you can impart meaning without being explicit?
  4. As forestluv pointed out, suggesting Trump is either 100% responsible or 0% responsible lacks nuance. I don't know how many BLM leaders (I don't even know who the leaders of BLM are) have called to 'keep fighting' on twitter.. enlighten me with some examples?
  5. @Animal2692 so, his actions AFTER the Capitol got stormed show his intent prior to the Capitol being stormed? That's like me planning a beautiful funeral for my dead wife as proof I didn't mean to kill her.
  6. The Charles Manson defense. - "I never killed anyone."
  7. @Carl-Richard Poe's law Poe's law is an adage of Internet culture stating that, without a clear indicator of the author's intent, it is impossible to create a parody of extreme views so obviously exaggerated that it cannot be mistaken by some readers for a sincere expression of the views being parodied.
  8. Remember that if 'you want to improve', that's part of your personality as well.
  9. Remember this phrase- "The map is not the territory" The map (the concepts we use to describe reality) can never be 100% accurate, without actually being what it's mapping (the territory). No 'description of reality' is ever the same as 'reality'.
  10. Everything will be okay in the end.. so if everything's not okay, don't worry, it's not the end.
  11. Being yourself is all that you ever do, and you never have to try to do it. Trying not to be yourself, or trying to be yourself, are both 'what you are doing' when you are doing it, and 'what you are doing' is always 'being yourself'. The illusion that you 'do things' other than 'be yourself' arises because of the language we use. When we say, for example, "I am being myself", this creates an imaginary separation between 'I' and 'what I am doing' where there is none. When we speak like this, we tend to imagine a separate 'locus of attention' that resides inside our organism somewhere that 'does things', but this is an illusion. We can notice that when we say, "I am growing my hair" or "I am digesting my food" we are never tempted to think 'we are doing it' in this same way. The reality is.. your organism is growing hair. Your organism is digesting food. Your organism is thinking thoughts. Recognize that your organism does these things without a 'you' who makes your organism do them. There is nothing 'you' do, other than 'be your organism', because there is no 'other you' that does things. That 'you' is just something else your organism is doing.
  12. People say I'm crazy Doing what I'm doing Well, they give me all kinds of warnings To save me from ruin When I say that I'm okay, well they look at me kinda strange "Surely, you're not happy now, you no longer play the game" People say I'm lazy Dreaming my life away Well they give me all kinds of advice Designed to enlighten me When I tell them that I'm doing fine watching shadows on the wall "Don't you miss the big time boy, you're no longer on the ball?" I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round I really love to watch them roll No longer riding on the merry-go-round I just had to let it go Ah, people ask me questions Lost in confusion Well, I tell them there's no problem Only solutions Well, they shake their heads and they look at me, as if I've lost my mind I tell them there's no hurry, I'm just sitting here doing time I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round I really love to watch them roll No longer riding on the merry-go-round I just had to let it go I just had to let it go I just had to let it go - John Lennon
  13. @iceprincess Double down.. ask them if they're aware of the FOURTH tower..
  14. A man walks into the bedroom with a sheep under his arm, looks at his wife and says, "I just wanted to show you the fat pig I f*@# when you're not around.". His wife says to him, I'm sorry to tell you, hun, but that's a sheep.". The man replies, "I wasn't talking to you."
  15. "The Lottery" - short story by Shirley Jackson
  16. @Hardkill if you had to choose between eating a turd, or a hamburger.. how good would that hamburger have to be in order to get you to say 'definitely not the turd'? Biden didn't need an amazing campaign to win this election. Even the cheapest, lowest quality fast food burger beats Turd every time.
  17. If what's 'imaginary' is indistinguishable from what's 'real', then it doesn't matter which perspective I take. Science is real, because it's really imagined that it is. If it's imagined that it's not real.. then it isn't. It's as real as the trees, which are also being imagined right now.

  19. Presumably, in order to do something, such as 'walk to the store', we have to 'try to walk to the store'. We might notice though, that 'trying' is also something that we do. Is 'trying' something we do that without trying? Or do we have to try to try?
  20. @JosephKnecht gets it, yoda does.
  21. Once upon a time there was a Chinese farmer whose horse ran away. That evening, all of his neighbors came around to commiserate. They said, “We are so sorry to hear your horse has run away. This is most unfortunate.” The farmer said, “Maybe.” The next day the horse came back bringing seven wild horses with it, and in the evening everybody came back and said, “Oh, isn’t that lucky. What a great turn of events. You now have eight horses!” The farmer again said, “Maybe.” The following day his son tried to break one of the horses, and while riding it, he was thrown and broke his leg. The neighbors then said, “Oh dear, that’s too bad,” and the farmer responded, “Maybe.” The next day the conscription officers came around to conscript people into the army, and they rejected his son because he had a broken leg. Again all the neighbors came around and said, “Isn’t that great!” Again, he said, “Maybe.” The whole process of nature is an integrated process of immense complexity, and it’s really impossible to tell whether anything that happens in it is good or bad — because you never know what will be the consequence of the misfortune; or, you never know what will be the consequences of good fortune. — Alan Watts Often we labeled situations as “bad” if we hate it. And “good” if we like it. But the bad cannot exist without the good, and vice versa. Whatever happens in our life, we’ll never be sure of the consequences it may bring in the future.
