@Hardkill I would agree with your ideas surrounding not generally knowing too well about how to relate to other people's cultures or connecting with them on an emotional level. However, I would actually disagree with the idea that progressives use faculty lounge politics. Imo, that is too charitable a critique. Many progressive think they are engaging in faculty lounge politics when they are not. Instead, they cling to some theoretical ideology that is concocted within the academy, whilst ignoring an integrated and, to my mind, actual faculty lounge opinion which would include a lot of room for political science. Actual faculty lounge politics would appeal to other culture's values imo.

@Leo Gura Surely you want to move a conservative into orange first then preach green at them? Green is too high for them when at blue

@Nilsi Nice dude. I respect the initiative

@bloomer I think its impossible to make objective AI because objectivity is important. Any presentation of information requires the making of subjective value judgments. Even when you are trying to merely describe something. For you must always make value based decisions about what is important to include in your description, otherwise your description just ends up being a rubbish bin of endless information imo. So, really you have to pick your biases.

@bloomer I get you dude. Sounds like you were really unlucky in terms of the school you went to. Also, I got quite chronically bullied when I was younger too. I understand some of the deep effects it can have.
-
@bloomer Hey dude, Personally, I rather like having you as a part of this forum :). Maybe you'll find value in this channel: https://www.youtube.com/@autismfromtheInside Also, unfortunately, to my understanding, its quite common for people on the autism spectrum to get bullied in school. I'm sorry you had to experience bullying in your formative years.

@meta_male Fairs dude. That's quite understandable. Also, btw I think we've actually met before at an evil mastermind conference . I found a vid of the event I think we're both in. Leo was there too! I'm pretty sure that is you second to left and me third to the right. You can see Leo in the middle! https://youtu.be/7edeOEuXdMU (sorry Leo hehe)

Primary: 2.4 Secondary: 3.2 Time to change my profile picture to an edgy joker picture and make dark, vaguely understandable comments on mundane discussion topics.

Melancholia (2011) Also, Nitram (2021). That movie disturbs the hell out of me. I literally can't watch that movie anymore.

@Girzo Honestly same bro. If truths be told its great to hear someone else's story about this. I'm kind of embarrassed to say it but I've been in waterholics anonymous for 25 years now. Feels like I'm gonna take this addiction to my grave. Hang in there tho brother, we got this.

@Leo Gura I get how it would seem somewhat unreasonable to conclude that they hate themselves. But on the Kernberg view, the entire point of the grandiose constructed self would be to prevent conscious experiencing of the unconscious self hatred attached to the BPD psychic structure. So, the narcissist would never consciously experience the self hatred but would always be reacting against it. Hence the expression of the narcissist is always grandiose but unconsciously is always motivated by a desire to avoid consciously experiencing deep self hatred. How else would you explain the phenomena of the narcissistic collapse? https://www.psychologytoday.com/gb/blog/understanding-narcissism/202202/what-is-narcissistic-collapse
-
@Leo Gura Hmm fair enough. I get your point. Kernberg's perspective still fits the self hate view though.
-
@Leo Gura I disagree actually. I base my views on narcissism off psychotherapists like Dr Frank Yeomans and Dr Otto Kerrnberg. I think that narcissism, in the true NPD sense, is a compensatory mechanism developed by a psyche as a means of protecting against deep feelings of emptiness and shame. Here is a video by Yeomans if you're interested: Kernberg actually believes that NPD is a secondary defence mechanism, such that if that defence mechanism were to be surrendered the client would then be left to experience their primary defence mechanism of BPD. BPD being characterised by pervasive self-hatred.

@something_else Based on this narrative, he behaved like an entitled child who can't handle their emotions imo. You did nothing I would class as disrespectful. I personally wouldn't want to be friends with someone who behaved in that manner.
