  1. This wouldn’t work 1. you’d be admitting you were at fault and failed to protect the USA, instantly the anger directed at Al Queda would be redirected at you. Prior to 9/11 George Bush reduced counter terrorism funding, hadn’t met with his head of counter terrorism, and ignored a warning that Al Queda planned to attack the US using planes. If that started being spread in the media directly after the attacks your administration would be done for. 2. At the time Osama Bin Laden was barricaded inside Afghanistan. If you weren’t going to war you’d have to negotiate with them. This would inspire anger about you even talking to them at all, and it’s very possible negotiations would fall through, at the time the taliban said they’d only hand over Osama Bin Laden for trial with a third party. The public would also feel continuing to let the taliban stay in power would be allowing future attacks. 3. Bringing up Muslims as a group right away would make people angry you’re asking for sympathy for a group they feel wasn’t primarily harmed. Your opponents would paint you as being more worried about racism than the victims of 9/11. George Bush only met with Muslim leaders and disavowed anti Muslim sentiment a year after when bigotryn and criticism towards them was ramping up. 4. not going into Iraq would probably be the main improvement, however the Bush admin already wanted to invade them and this gave a great excuse. But that’s not a stage yellow thing, even stage blue or orange leaders wouldn’t do that based on ideology, it was a power play and long term goal for other reasons.
  2. I watched it live. He keeps bringing up Hama’s charter as justification. But Chomsky had a good debunking of that argument Also they’ve since changed it
  3. The USA failed in both Iraq and Afghanistan after over 20 years, Iran is as large as both combined.
  4. Iran has advocated for making the Middle East a nuclear weapon free zone, the US blocked it’s proposal because it would require inspecting Israel’s nuclear weapons. Multiple high level officials in the USA and Israel have called for bombing Iran multiple times. Even still Iran agrees to a nuclear deal but the US backed out. Calling for destruction of another country because they don’t like it is what is being done to Iran, they just respond in kind.
  5. To be honest, I don’t understand why the party was approved and who thought it was a good idea. Doing it right by a camp filled with hostiles was an incredibly bad idea. Some things about Gaza that aren’t mentioned that often in mainstream media: the unemployment rate was 50 percent, something like 70 percent of inhabitants show signs of ptsd, and there is evidence of mass childhood lead poisoning. All of these have been shown to correlate to increased irrational and violent behavior.
  6. what isn’t being discussed is that this is a shockwave and potential disaster for US politics -it’s causing a huge split between the progressive left and the neo liberal left. Due to pro Palestinian students many top universities are releasing meek statements and student groups are releasing statements condemning and blaming Israel’s occupation, enraging older democrats and alumni many of whom are Jewish -progressive groups are foolishly marching for Palestine directly after the attacks and before the response and the media is amplifying specific protestors celebrating the killings. The DSA for example held a huge one in New York. This is a disaster for them and probably alienating many people, New York specifically is extremely pro Israel due to the large Jewish population. -online Ive seen right wing outlets extremely riled up by seeing the size of Muslim protests supporting Palestine in western countries, it seems to be accelerating support for the great replacement theory which has already lead to multiple acts of violence. -the right wing in the USA is trying to pin this on Biden, it may actually hurt his election because he could already look weak on foreign policy due to the Afghanistan withdrawal. -In Israel this is apparently causing a huge shift right unsurprisingly so the government which was earlier being heavily protested has carte Blanche to massacre Gaza. But leading newspapers are already harshly critiquing Netenyahu’s administration for allowing this to happen after bragging so much about security, it may tank his support once all is settled. -the wsj and many other sources are trying to suggest Iran is involved. Apparently there is no actual proof of this and both US and Israeli intelligence says they don’t have proof either. This is extremely dangerous because Israel was key in pushing the USA into the Iraq war and has had intense hostilities towards Iran including multiple assassinations. The supreme leader of Iran tweeted support for the attacks as well. War hawks may try to use this to push for conflicts with Iran. Iran’s population and military is the size of Afghanistan and Iraq combined, it would be a disaster of epic proportions if the USA engaged in war with them.

  9. Correct, in 2018 Palestinians did hold a overwhelmingly peaceful border protest, but the IDF opened fire killing over 200. Of 498 killings and injuries analyzed by an independent source, only 2 were reasonably self defense. There was virtually no outcry from the west and Israel congratulated the soldiers who killed civilians. Given that at this point Israel has Gaza residents on a starvation diet and consuming poison water, the result is millions slowly dying with severe psychological trauma from constant bombing who see no peaceful means of freedom and are lashing out desperately.

  11. Thanks. here’s the text https://www.haaretz.com/opinion/editorial/2023-10-08/ty-article-opinion/netanyahu-bears-responsibility/0000018b-0b9d-d8fc-adff-6bfd1c880000?v=1696810605730
  12. It’s depraved that it’s considered normal to have a party by the fence of a massive open air prison where Israel holds over 1 million children captive. Just 5 years earlier at the same prison the Palestinians staged a protest where Israel killed over 200 of them, and independent analysis found of nearly 500 incidents of killing or injury by Israel only 2 were justifiable self defense. Ultimately you can’t torture a population, destroy and block every peaceful means they have of reproach, and expect them to not lash out in violent ways.

  14. Except Israel isn’t acting in rational best interest either, they’ve only made their own safety worse by refusing to stop the occupation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AJlfW0g2rk
  15. 1) why are they obsessed? Because it’s their home they were kicked out of. They lived their for generations, saying “well there are other Muslim countries” doesn’t mean much to the individuals who live there and not elsewhere. 2) the historical situation of oppression doesn’t justify current behavior, currently Israel is keeping Palestinians in an apartheid state and concentration camp, just because the person oppressing you had ancestors that were oppressed and you had ancestors who did oppression, doesn’t make their current behavior justified. Israel is oppressing Palestinians, that can’t be justified by saying in the past Jews were oppressed, you are responsible for what you are doing. 3) Palestinians are in far more danger from Israel, Israel kills 20+ Palestinians for every Israeli that iskilled, Israel has destroyed Gaza and keeps them on a starvation diet in horrific living conditions. 97% of water sources in Gaza are contaminated and Israel controls the rest of the fresh water sources. Israel’s survival isn’t at stake because their state isn’t in danger of dissolution as they’ve only expanded, meanwhile Palestine is being ethnically cleansed by them and has slowly had their land taken until the current situation where millions are crammed in small shrinking space. Acting like they are crazy for lashing out when their actual existence is being destroyed is illogical.
