  3. 1. It wasn’t “half assed”. The US and other countries spent literally trillions of dollars and tens of thousands of lives. Their attacks were so vicious as to kill millions. What more could possibly be done military wise if that was not enough? 2. Israel is not doing a targeted attack, they are engaging in wide scale ethnic cleansing. IDF officials already admitted the bombing was focused on causing damage, and they are using mostly unguided bombs and even 2000 pound bombs (the USA used at largest 500 lb bombs in Afghanistan which had much less civilian population density). They are also tearing down farm land and bombing universities to damage the culture. 3. Hamas already removed calls for Israel’s destruction from their charter. The PLO gave up violence and trying to end Israel decades ago, yet rather than make a deal with them Israel allows settlers to take their land and kill civilians by the hundred. Why should Hamas make a deal with Israel if that’s how they treat the PLO are treated? 4. We can make parallels to historical events within Israel and Palestine themselves. And what we see is a consistent pattern of violence creating more violence. So there is no indication this war will lead to peace. The biggest difference now is that Israel is putting its own existence at risk as its neighboring countries become more hostile towards it and foreign country populations want to support it less and less.
  4. 1. The suicide bombings began after the first intifada, they were a response to Israeli occupation and violence. H 2. hamas haven’t claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing since 2008 The Israel military has engaged in many massacres of civilians long before Hamas was even founded.
  5. Israel’s priority is not protecting its citizens nor is it getting the hostages back. Attacks from Gaza have happened for decades killing Jews, rather than try and remediate the situation Israel allows it to happen for opportunities to massacre Palestinians. They call it mowing the grass. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mowing_the_grass#:~:text=The term was coined by,seen with the three Gaza They even had a protocol to purposefully kill Jews to avoid them being taken prisoner https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hannibal_Directive At the start of the war Hamas offered to give up all the hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, Israel refused and instead attack, since potentially a dozen or more hostages have died. Surviving hostages themselves said Israel’s bombardment was closed to killing them than their kidnappers. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/mar/03/we-were-constantly-in-terror-israeli-hostage-tells-of-captivity-in-gaza Not true, Russia is currently experiencing far more losses than Israel but has not created starvation of Ukrainians and have a lower ratio of civilians killed to enemy soldiers You’re saying Jews are “more gentle” because you’re comparing Jewish citizens to Hamas soldiers. The average Arab is not a hamas fighter. A fairer comparison would be the IDF to Hamas, and they aren’t really much more “gentle” as throughout their history they’ve committed many massacres of Arabs
  6. You have said this before and have provided NO evidence this is true. All independent analysis has found “no tolerance approaches” like war and blockades increase terrorism. The war on terror increased terrorism. Israel’s occupation of the West Bank and bombing of Gaza lead to oct 7. We do have a recent historical example of ending a large amount of terror attacks with how the British stopped the IRA. Their own analysis was that it only stopped when the grievances of the insurgency were addressed politically as opposed to violently.
  7. Just FYI, Israel hasn’t actually presented proof all or even most of the civilian deaths are the result of human shields. In fact in this conflict I haven’t seen evidence of any human shields being used so far. Civilians just living in the area where you are bombing is not being used as a human shield. Amnesty international investigated the previous war and did not find evidence of Hamas using human shields during that conflict for example, even though thousands of civilians were killed https://www.amnesty.org/en/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/MDE2111782015ENGLISH.pdf#page47 There also was evidence of Israel using human shields https://www.btselem.org/human_shields
  8. Not true, they do not use the warning bomb policy currently https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roof_knocking#2023_Israel–Hamas_war example, here bombed residents said they received no notice https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Refugee_camp_airstrikes_in_the_Israel–Hamas_war#cite_ref-80
  9. interesting chart explaining the traumatic experience of a average Gazan 14 year old (this chart was made in 2021, it does not include the current war)

  12. I am not downplaying or denying the attack, I am posting sources that many specific claims do not have proof or have been debunked. If I’m wrong you can quote specifically which one is. I’m questioning it because many of the claims that many still take at face value have been disputed or still haven’t had proof presented, this is important because exaggerating war crimes has historically been used to justify greater military action.

  15. Oct 7 false claims analysis part 1 One IDF commander in Kfar Aza and Be'eri claimed to an i24 News reporter that 40 babies had been killed, out of what one estimate described as at least 100 civilian victims source But, only two babies are known to have died as a result of that attack, one from a bullet, the other shortly after birth in a hospital source Zaka member Landua described finding a pregnant woman in Kibbutz Be’eri in a “big puddle of blood, face down.” “Her stomach was butchered open,” Landau said. “The baby that was connected to the cord was stabbed.” In Be’eri, he said, he also found a family who was tied up, tortured, and executed with a bullet to the back of the head: father, mother, and two small children around 6 or 7 years old. An eye was missing, fingers chopped off. Landau later told CNN, “The terrorists were having a ball,” with Palestinian militants devouring a holiday meal set out by the family. Landau broke down recounting the tale, as a CNN reporter comforted him. source however no proof was given of the butchered mother and fetus and Haaretz reporters conclude it didn’t happen source no one killed in Be’eri matches Landau’s account of the tortured family either, 12 year old twins died when in a house fired on by a idf tank source Landau was also the source of the beheaded children claim repeated by Joe Biden source however there is currently no evidence of it and the idf haven’t confirmed it , Landau now denies claiming he saw beheaded children The NYT reported a investigative report alleging hamas conducted mass rapes, the main example being Gal Abdush who it reported was raped and a video of her identified as “the woman in the black dress” went viral source however no such video exists and her family has stated she wasn’t raped
  16. False, prior to oct 7 it was already the deadliest year for Palestinian children. 40% of Gazans were unemployed, many had malnutrition, and Israel wasn’t removing the blockade. Israel has lost many civilians and soldiers, hurt its economy, and damaged its national standing, this is not a good event for Israel either. You shouldn’t diminish their suffering to tout victory.
  17. Just because something has motive, doesn’t mean it is justified. Hamas kidnapped Israeli’s because they wanted in part to get Israel to release their thousands of Palestinian prisoners, many held without charges. That doesn’t mean oct 7 was justified.

  19. The problem with theories like this that ascribe one or a few main traits to men or women is you can almost always make an equally good argument for the opposite. For example, here is an argument that women’s main wound is shame and men’s main wound is powerlessness: Enduring cultures throughout time shamed women from various forms of expression especially sexually to have societal control, now women can resent men as they project the feeling of shame coming from them, or they attack their own shamed aspects of themselves Men throughout history were treated like their only value was in how much “power” they have, because if you couldn’t protect and provide you are useless and wouldn’t attract women or be given status in society. So men who feel lacking in power lash out at society and women to try to regain some power to feel worthwhile.
  20. True detective is an anthology series where each season is a stand alone mini series about detectives The first season was considered one of the best tv shows of all time, a extremely dark and gritty but interesting psychological / horror inspired detective mini series in only 8 episodes. the second and third season were more mixed. However the fourth season finished recently is being lauded by critics as potentially even better than the first. But strangely fans have a completely different reaction with many saying it’s actually the worst season. has anyone here watched it? What do you think, how do they compare? What is causing such a split reaction? if you haven’t I recommend watching at least season 1, but caution as it contains themes of sexual violence.
