  1. Lol no one's being racist. It's just a misunderstanding. You're proving the point.
  2. That's not my name. That's why I chose it, because it is very different from an Indian name. It's kinda funny lol. Free country.
  3. That's part of being a serious society. A society that is more survival oriented. I love India but there are many reasons we have become more survival oriented. You will find similarities in other societies that are dealing with problems India is dealing with. In India you have to be on your guard. You have to be defensive and a bit assertive to resolve conflicts. In Canada it's better to be non-reactive, laugh it off, to take it lightly, or just tell the authorities. There are clearly cultural differences, you can see it in the customer care when you land at the airport. Customer care in India and Canada are poles apart. These are just my observations.
  4. I actually find the humor less. A lot less. it's also different. Maybe because you are a foreigner they treat you differently lol. Let say this, India is a diverse country so different groups may have different humor styles. I find that comedy in Hindi is a lot more physical and tonal (like change in tone of voice), whereas comedy in Punjabi is a lot more verbal (puns and word tricks) and has a confident, alpha male, macho feel to the comedian. I think humor is less because in India you have so many serious problems. School is so difficult compared to some other places. People are highly religious too. It's also dealing with ACTUAL racism and poverty, so political correctness is a step in the right direction. There are many things off the table like religion, identity, gender, etc. It makes sense why there is less humor and why non controversial styles are more prevalent. But overall I strongly feel it's a more serious society compared to North America.
  5. @Preety_India I am Indian, grew up in India, and have had Indians around me all my life. Your reply proved my point. This is a cool video about political correctness and humor.
  6. From my limited point of view Americans are the funniest people I can think of. I didn't know French were funnier. Indians have very little sense of humor in my experience. It's very serious there and I'm not exaggerating. They also censor "hate" speech much more than other countries I believe. It's just considered rude socially to make jokes and to even criticize people's religions, cultures, identity etc. I think part of it has to do with diversity and political correctness. If you have a diverse country naturally the people tend to be more politically correct in order to appear more respectful. it also has to do with spiral dynamic stages.
  7. By critics do you mean this
  8. I don't recall breaking any forum rules. If you're going to accuse at least provide evidence.
  9. @Nahm I can’t believe you guys don’t kick out people like him. He asks me why I haven’t done psychedelics, I tell him why, then he proceeds to call me names and make wrong stereotypical judgements. Then he tells you his intent to make me feel bad lol. All this because I don’t want to take psychedelics at this stage of my life. Keep in mind he claims he is awakened. What a joke! If this isn’t bullshit I don’t know what is! You have too many bullshiters who don’t know how to keep the discussion civil. On top of that, you don’t even enforce the guidelines properly. Makes me not want to come on this forum again. Too many bullshiters.
  10. Staring beef out of no where. @Serotoninluv @Nahm Might wanna look into what’s being said here.
  11. I never said any of that, they are your bullshit assumptions. Stop calling me names.
  12. @Raptorsin7 Stop projecting and telling me what to do. You don’t know me.
  13. @Raptorsin7 Lol I told you I need to handle some basic personal development before I can do psychedelics. Psychedelics won’t solve all your problems. It’s not fear, it’s intuition and common sense.
  14. For one thing I am not mature enough. Secondly, I need to handle my material life better. Basic self-help. I now have a foundation and motivation to work on myself. For many years I did not have this clarity. I wasn't depressed but was just confused and trying to answer questions like what is thought, mind, reality, I, logic, meaning, values, freewill, etc. I did answer those and now I intuitively feel I need to do work on building a career. I want to handle the tangible material stuff before I can move on to the ethereal realms. I was doing a lot of self-inquiry, contemplation, and meditation for a few years but now I intuitively feel I need to do some practical stuff and move away from spirituality slightly. Actually, the practical stuff is spirituality if you know how to do it properly. Also, for me, practices like meditation, concentration and contemplation have a lot of juice left. I have no way exhausted these practices and they show great results. I still have a long way to go on dealing with my shadow. I do intend on using psychedelics in the future, just not now. It requires a lot of research work, planning, and after you have taken them, contemplation, and more research. I am not going to take them like a junky without putting in any work. I don't have time, resources, and space do such activities. *(I also have to deal with Indian parents, and as you probably know they can be very difficult to deal with, especially if you're an only child and a free soul. So basically a controlling, narcissistic relationship for the rest of my life .)
  15. George Orwell in his essays and in the novel, "1984" has some insights on language. An author I read in University, Marshal McLuhan, has some very important structural insights on media, which includes sounds and by extension language. His book, "The Medium is the Massage" is worth checking out. He uses the term differently to mean more than just "news media". Other than that, just knowing three languages has helped me tremendously and greatly expanded my mind. Languages are at the center of cultures. Knowing a language is the key to getting to know the mentality of any culture. I don't think you can know a culture fully if you don't know it's language. If you only know one language that can be limiting. It's like you are a fish in water. As humans we learn by compare and contrast. To know your culture you need to know other cultures. That gives you a reference point. Having access to different types of songs, movies, ideas, religions, and people gives you a better reference point to understand your own culture.
  16. @Leo Gura Is risk taking is one of the most important components of this work (and life)? I say it’s very important, it is part of being open minded and really it’s part of living. Life is inherently unknown and mysterious. All our predictions are coming from the past. But the question remains how can we differentiate between calculated risk and risk. We can’t. It’s a duality and there is no clear line. If you’re open minded enough there are no “risks”. In a sense open mindedness takes the “risk” away from risk because then you truly don’t know whether things have gone “bad”. Saying things have gone “bad” is itself a judgement.
  17. It would probably not be a good idea for both of them. Leo is too radical for the mainstream. You cannot discuss spiral dynamics in the mainstream, you will be called a liberal hack and not one will admit they or their religion is lower on the spiral. His criticism of science makes it worse. They would get more hate than love for doing it. It takes a certain level of implicit understanding, prior experience, curiosity, and open mindedness to take Leo seriously. Most people, including Joe, don’t have that. Most people listening to Leo don’t understand what he’s saying, to understand they would need to experience it for themselves. Besides, Leo isn’t a celebrity, writer, scientist or in the mainstream, Joe is not going to invite someone who isn’t on the mainstream, specialty not a medium sized youtuber who makes hour long videos about woo woo topics.
  18. So just a thought, do you think stage blue, moralist religion come back? Since we are seeing a rise in the right wing around the world and imo I just don't see people handling meaninglessness very well. People will revert back to the safety and structure of religion because they are too afraid of freedom imo. Do you think moralistic people will come up with more rules and ban our porn and tell us what to wear and what to do? Or do you think world will be more 'liberal', more free and the right wing rising is a temporary thing? I fear it will revert back to dogma and belief rigid belief systems because it provides psychological safety and people crave that nowadays. What do you think?
  19. @4201 Sadhguru is a bit of a hypocrite and not being transparent on this topic. Probably due to social reasons. There is a video of him drinking cobra venom... In one article he says, “Consumption of mercury is very much a part of yogic practice”, and “In the South, we have temples where the idol is made of nine deadly poisons. They are called navapashanas. A cocktail of poisons together become very healing and medicinal in nature. It is a very deep science of how to convert visha into amrita – of making a cocktail of poisons, which would instantly kill you, but instead it nourishes you. People consume the water that runs off these idols and it is very healing. But slowly the deity wears out. Generally their lifespan could be anywhere between hundred and fifty to two hundred years depending upon the size. Slowly they lose their shape and form because every day as water falls on it, it wears out and people are drinking it up, taking the Divine in.” This is the article: https://isha.sadhguru.org/ca/en/sadhguru/mystic/rasa-vaidya It is very common to see yogis in India smoke marijuana or any other drug. Drugs are used in many Indian traditions. There was a video where Sadhguru was talking about how he can give people a drink that could enlighten them or kill them (upon dying they would be enlightened), but I can’t find it now. Regardless, the use “Amrit” or “Amrita” for spirituality is well known in India which Sadhguru agrees. So if we can use mercury, nine-poisons, lingams, and occult practice, why can’t we use other chemicals? Here are some other articles by him: https://isha.sadhguru.org/ca/en/wisdom/article/ayahuasca-parasitic-purging (On ayahuasca) https://isha.sadhguru.org/ca/en/wisdom/article/drugs-and-the-spiritual-path-possibility-or-pitfall (In this one he clearly says it is a possibility to use drugs to awaken) ”So drugs are the lowest possibility, but still a possibility.” - Sadhguru In short, he is mostly talking about recreational drug use. He is very tight lipped about using them for awakening.
  20. The title and the thumbnail speak for themselves. The title is paradoxical.
  21. @Leo Gura You should keep an eye on the Trump supporters .
