Doctors also need to go through long working hours and pass through many tests. They would also need to learn complex stuff. All these require a certain amount of ego. Otherwise, they would just quit being a doctor and do a normal 9 to 5.
Great philosophers also need to get their points across. They need followers and a strong marketing team to project their viewpoints. Also require ego.

I attended the course 5 years before. Not sure how it has advanced now.
