There are a couple ways to force it to change. If you make any of the outlying territories or Washington D.C. into a state, that’s 2 more senators each. For any of those senators to be Republicans, they would need a platform that appeals more to liberals. Otherwise, good luck ever having a senate majority again. Also, the change that has slowly been occurring this past decade is liberals moving to Texas and further urbanization with more Texans leaning left. Trump had a comfortable margin of victory this election, but not YUUUUUGE. As long as people keep moving in, the chances of Republicans relying on Texas votes diminish with each election cycle. And the same could be said for Florida to a lesser degree. Either of these would force Republicans to change and stay relevant or bury them.

Wow, that was an interesting talk! I never equated my Facebook account to a Skinner Box before. I stopped using it a while ago, though, so I feel good about that.

If you are in a stable position with the ability to help, do as you wish. Do you feel a sense of obligation, or is it something you want to do and are passionate about? If you aren’t in a stable position, work on yourself instead.

I think it’s analogous to a relay race. There’s a period with the next runner in the race starting before the previous runner has reached them with the baton, and the baton is passed after the previous runner has already passed their designated portion of the race. It’s not perfect. One of the runners can drop the baton during the hand-off. Our scenario in this election has someone who wants to keep the baton for himself. You want to change the rules of the race because one runner doesn’t want to pass the baton?

I’d say this is a direct result of the recent police videos in the U.S. and the “defund the police” slogan that some elected officials went along with. They don’t want to see that happen in France also, so they did this to prevent it.
