  1. @Iksander Jana Dixon admitted that the following was about the most speculative thing she had written in her book about Kundalini and that more research was definitely needed. Her theory concerns a build up of Ammonia in the body. I tried to keep the excerpt small. If you want to look more into her suggestions and thinking I'll put the link below. Both dehydration and the extremes of high and low blood sugar increase the stress hormone cortisol, which could trigger off Jim's neurological cycle; and cortisol decreases fasting blood glucose. So blood sugar must be carefully managed to prevent the body going into stress/panic mode and kicking off a cycle. High blood sugar also makes the kidneys filter too much blood and such overwork reduces their filtering capacity. The vagus nerve of the parasympathetic nervous system is affected by poor kidney function. Tight muscles at the base of the skull can impinge on the vagus, and malfunction of the kidneys can induce these neck muscles to contract. If too much potassium (K+) is excreted blood levels of potassium are reduced creating alkaline urine. This alkaline urine reduces the amount of ammonia that is removed from the blood via the kidneys. We know ammonia increases seizures and convulsions, but we also need to find out if seizures and convulsions actually produce ammonia. Glutamine protects the brain and body from ammonia toxicity. If serum ammonia levels increase the body uses more glutamine to reduce ammonia levels in the brain. High levels of NH4+ lead to increased levels of glutamine, which serves as an osmotically active solute swelling glial cells. Thus ammonia in the brain leads to glial cell swelling which reduces their function and causes confusion and pressure in the head. There are 10X more glial cells than neurons--they act like liquid crystals resonating in harmony with the surrounding electrical fields. They act as semiconductors, picking up faint electrical impulses from the nervous system and the environment and amplifying them thousands of times--tuning impulses to the proper frequency for the neurons. Obviously glial cell swelling interferes with this tuning process and other glial cell functions. Fast and efficient enzyme systems usually maintain low tissue levels of ammonia, these enzymes primarily include glutamate dehydrogenase, glutamine synthase and carbamoyl phosphate synthetase. Magnesium activates glutamine synthetase, a key enzyme that helps cells dispose of ammonia. Chlorophyll is thought to act as a "body cleanser," neutralizing toxins such as ammonia and carbon monoxide by many mechanisms. Wheatgrass is also one of the richest sources of vitamins A, B, and C. It is a source for calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, sulfur, cobalt, zinc, and protein. Eat 3-4 stalks of celery per day for the duration of any period of hyper-sympathetic stimulation especially if you have high blood pressure or pressure in the head. This will help with kidney function, electrolyte balance and celery is also a sex tonic. Because celery removes excess uric acid from the blood, it might also help the ammonia situation as well. I suggested Jim supplement with Glutamine to serve as a carrier to remove the ammonia. Peripheral tissues may also remove ammonia from the blood by metabolically incorporating it into glutamine. Glutamine is freely permeable and may transfer ammonia to other tissues for nitrogen transfer reactions or for metabolic degradation via the urea cycle. Substrates of the urea cycle, such as arginine, citrulline and ornithine, are also reported to act as protective agents against ammonia toxicity, possibly by stimulating urea formation. Ornithine may help reduce elevated ammonia levels seen after exercise, reducing fatigue. 500mg of L-Arginine or ornithine in the morning neutralizes ammonia (NH3) in the liver, the body and in urine. http://biologyofkundalini.com/article.php@story=TheAmmoniaHypothesis.html
  2. @Gladius I think the old Greek usage had even become obscure 100 years ago when Gurdjieff began putting some structure to the Science of Idiotism. The double meaning/usage of the word adds to the confusion but that in itself makes it all the more valuable for its intended purpose. Hence, a glimpse into the mind and Being of George Gurdjieff. I appreciate the comment. ?‍♂️
  3. Had readings but didn't record them here the 2 previous days. 6-16-2019 41 Decreasing Line 6 19. Approaching Jointly From line 6 of hexagram 41- "Perserverance brings good fortune" refers to the person who recognizes the Cosmic source of his increase. He perseveres in saying the inner No's to the ego's attempts to appropriate the gifts by suggesting he has "deserved" them. He also does not allow them to be used for any egotistical purpose. This line states the Cosmic Principle that Cosmic gifts may never be used for egotistical purposes because doing so decreases the Cosmic Whole, creating blame.
  4. I used to couldn't tolerate hearing any song by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. It reminded me of the concrete desert of Little Rock Arkansas in the summertime of the early 1990's. Around the time period Slick Willy got elected President . I felt betrayed by pop culture during this time, which I eventually resolved when I realized the world is asleep. I've come to appreciate some of the songs of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Gotta have pronouns to effectively communicate.
  5. As stated in the other thread, I still catch myself - Having the need to be right. Having the need to know something, anything about a topic instead of just stating, "I don't know", Imagination still pollutes all areas of my life. Arrogant attitude that I still see subtle elements of imagination that 99,85 percent of World doesn't. What Gurdjieff called Kundabuffer Still self congradulatory at times.
  6. Is one's insecurity the motor fuel for the need to be right? In the relative world where we are responsible for our own intellectual and emotional balance, is there wisdom in sometimes placing the good above the True. Is there a lack of 'holding space' for others on the forum?
  7. The Saturn influence which comes from the chemistry produced by the anterior lobe of the pituitary tempers the impulsiveness of my other major influence from the adrenal glands (mars type) and also the naivety from a lesser influence of Solar essence (thymus). Saturns are typically the most responsible and trustworthy of the types, as a rule. In return for these traits is the struggle with sometimes being too serious and the inability to be light hearted. The Saturn influence when detected by others allows them to be trusted, at times anyway when it reveals an impartial quality in their unsolicited advice. Apart from the Lunar type (pancreas) whose energy is most compatible with Saturns, Saturns usually get along well with other Saturns. Saturns are more likely to not get along well with Jovials who are influenced by the posterior lobe of the pituitary. Jovials are typically heavy in the upper body with comparatively skinny legs and tend to dominate spaces with their presence. Saturns also struggle with the pure Venusians sedentary laziness. Venusians are often the more pear shaped body type with most of the weight carried low, the result of the influence coming from a dominant parathyroid among one's endocrine glands. Saturns are typically good at planning and coordinating.
  8. Start of a list. I develop hero worship for nearly every spiritual Teacher who has an influence on me. The whole of my life has been dominated by seeing the world through a perceptual filter of fear. I alternate frequently between being an attention whore to wanting to hide from the world. I've yet to overcome periodic episodes of hatred. To be continued.
  9. Dont watch this if you're depressed to begin with.
  10. @Joseph Maynor If allowed the use of imaginative conjecture. - I'm thinking the embodiment of not caring overrides it mostly.
  11. @DrewNows Because you have the same major influence of Essence type as me. Congradulations! ??‍♂️You're a Saturn type mixed with another type of Essence,,,,? Essence characteristics we can't change. We can take the sharp edges off it though. It's the other part of our nature - personality- or ego/false personality where change can be effected. I say this to give a frame of reference to this concept out of the Fourth Way. It's not true unless you can apply it and it's useful for you,,,, Below is a quote from a good book on Essence (Endocrine) types which elaborates my foolishness. I extracted and pasted the sentence description within the paragraph of Saturns, just below. Take heart, Abraham Lincoln was a Saturn type. "If we are Saturns we cannot stop trying to control others always for their own good--- no matter how strenuously they object When we are able to recognize types and predict the characteristic reactions, we find that this information is liberating, both as it applies to ourselves and as it helps us to understand others. Once we know that virtually all limitations, weakness and shortcomings are not things for which we can be blamed, most of us feel the lifting of guilt that we have carried for most of our lives. If we are Lunars we cannot be outgoing and emotionally demonstrative, no matter how much others urge us to be and how much we may want to please them. If we are Saturns we cannot stop trying to control others--- always for their own good--- no matter how strenuously they object. If we are Venusians we cannot be aggressively ambitious no matter how much our mothers want us to be and how much we may love our mothers. If we are an emotionally centered mercurial and find it impossible to engage in repetitive tasks day after day, word processing in an isolated cubicle, or putting shingles on roofs, then we should begin to understand how hard it is for a moving centered Martial to experience his own emotions, much less express them effectively. ,,,,,
  12. A memorable quote from Ken Wilber's 10 cd set Kosmic Consciousness -- "Here in the relative world. If you're in a bar and you see Hitler and you happen to have a baseball bat,,,, whack the boy!"
  13. YEAH!! That's rich! To me, that's a good example of what's referred to as the state of Self Remembering in the Fourth Way. Or it sounds like it to me. There's an actual feel of more awareness and presence. Self Remembering with a capital S. ?
  14. @Joseph Maynor Thanks for chiming in. I feel the forum would be more balanced if we could all be a little more confessional of our weak spots. With hopefully a more mindful and spacious atmosphere developing. Where just the confession of a shortcoming is allowed to sit in quiet with some kind of subtle acknowledgements from others who are also doing the Work. @Hellspeed So true.
  15. @MsNobody I like the quote. It speaks of finer energies. I also feel the truth of it. The need to be right all the time. This relentless tendency of mine I've observed in my Inquiry. My sanity has been helped by the discovery in the relief that's always there to be had by a return to beginners mind,,,,, In spite of that I still 'forget' and catch myself too late. It's a slow build, for me.
  16. @LastThursday I love what you articulated here! I took it as pointing towards the integration of our multiplicity, culminating in what some traditions call the Pearl beyond Price. A richly diverse Being. Not just Enlightened, but also Realized. Your post made me think of Jean Hustons last talk at the SAND conference. In it she speaks of us being "myriad minded" It starts slow but she ends it with some inspirational thunder,,,
  17. @seeking_brilliance From the Gospel of Thomas. lo·gi·on /ˈlōɡēˌän,-jē-/ noun a saying attributed to Jesus Christ, especially one not recorded in the canonical Gospels.
  18. @Aakash Hurray for you man! I get identified with something and stumble all the time. The idea that in Actualizing or becoming realized or enlightened, that it's a one time threshold to be crossed, needs to be dispelled. There needs to be more of this kind of confessional stuff here on the forum. This is REAL work and when someone is honest and brave enough to share something unflattering about themselves, the last thing they need is to be talked down to. Thank You!!! ??
  19. @Bill W My harsh criticism above about belief equaling imagination wasn't aimed at you. What I've always referred to as holding things in an 'as if category', in spirit, aligns closely with your comments on faith and belief. The topic I started yesterday on one's need to be right in discussions with others hasn't been very popular along with other topics of that nature in the recent past. It seems just about any honest, unflattering, self observation here on the forum gets met more often with subtle if not blatant condescension and being talked down to and unsolicited advice that often doesn't even apply, in addition to intellectual one-upsmanship, complaining, emoting, pissing contests, platitudes, self congratulatory qualifying remarks and all the rest of it as Maurice Nicoll would say. ? Yes, I'm guilty of all that stuff to at times when I become identified. ??‍♂️ @Shin Jesus is my brother and friend. Jesus is just alright with meee, Mannnnn
  20. This is a paraphrasing of Logion 102 from the Gospel of Thomas when the Pharisees were the fundamentalists of the day. In esoteric Christianity, the references about the Pharisees in the parables applies to everyone. We all have an 'inner Pharisee' in ourselves to overcome who are sure of themselves in unknowing blind belief (imagination). This is a part of Awakening, dying to old self and rebirth. A dying to our old selves who are legion (many i's) and trapped in polarity consciousness and interprets the scriptures literally that kill the Word, the Spirit. Christ pointing to what we refer to as nondual being.
  21. @LastThursday Maybe like a contrarian investor?
  22. In the Gospel of Thomas Jesus said, "Don't worry too much what the outside of the cup looks like, You only drink what's inside." "Do not let fundamentalists come between you and God's love. They are like dog's guarding a cow's trough. They protect food they don't eat from animals that are starving."
  23. 6-13-2019 21. Biting Through From the text- "It is favorable to exercise judgement" councils a person to consciously affirm his inner feeling of disharmony by saying the inner No to that which is causing it, or to add his assent as a conscious inner Yes to that which is harmonious. By exercising judgement in this way he aligns himself with the Cosmic Way.
