  1. Hopefully that phrase goes away soon, not a good look for the Democratic side.
  2. So you are admitting you really don't know about the US education system. Thats very understandable since you live on the other side of the world. Yet, when people who have lived here in the US for decades admit they have seen and have direct experience with systematic racism in our country since they were children, you just gaslight them and say their views are distorted. Kind of amazing to me. I'm not talking about the Netherlands right now, as I have no idea what its like over there.
  3. Is there anything to 11, or 11:11? My inner life is usually on a rollercoaster, and whenever I'm more conscious, I always see these numbers in abundance. When I'm going through a more unconscious time, I never see these numbers. I understand the mind can play tricks on you, but its such a dramatic difference that I actually believe these numbers are saying something. Any truth to what I'm saying?
  4. My Uncle Michael -RIp, Vegan for 13 years before anyone knew what vegan meant. For his last two years he ate shrimp because his doctor told him he needed to and he couldn't live with himself after that. 1st person to own a computer in my neighborhood(1985 or so). Put about a months salary in a telescope. He would tell me stories of what was out in space that no one at that time could possibly accept. Most of his working years were with a non-profit. His vacations were either with me or another niece/nephew, or to south america where he would donate his money/time to different communities. He recognized that I was similar to him in some ways, and always told me to empathize with others. His off time was devoted to caring for my other relatives or volunteering. When he decided to end his life, everyone assumed he was broke, but he had an abundance of money he never touched.
  5. No, change your name, no worries...
  6. Honestly, I'm not being sarcastic right now, just give in to this...you just admitted you are the patient, I'm a patient in the biggest sense you can imagine. You have so much anger and frustration now, and you came to this forum for a reason. Just let it be, accept it...what do you have to lose? No one even knows who you are. Don't you want to be happier? I do.
  7. Become an electrician's mate through a union. After a few years, your possiblities are endless.
  8. It's great that you have that self-awareness. Join the military and pick a non-combat job, get some skills and the Post 9/11 GI Bill
  9. Just guessing obviously, but I think Trump will be coming out with some pretty big anti-discrimination policies, for political reasons of course. Biden has a pretty big lead right now in the polls and that might be his only option. I don't think it would lose his followers.
  10. No reason to feel guilt, just acknowledgement. You should watch a youtube video about Jim Crow laws in the USA that started right after slavery ended. They lasted till 1965 and suppressed the black community. It should be clear how that still affects the black population here.
  11. The video of different races coming together and supporting each other is a beautiful peace of art.
  12. I'd be surprised if he won. There is a growing list of Republicans and military officials calling him out and saying they will vote BIden. That being said, he has a lot of supporters that don't make a lot of noise. The sexual assault claim is a very tough subject. There are certainly a lot of women who are being truthful about things that have happened, yet there are also some who are trying to make some quick $. Trump has been accused of sexual assault/rape/harassment 25 times. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald_Trump_sexual_misconduct_allegations Unfortunately, we only have two choices at this point.
  13. When I talk to people(blue/orange)who are against the protests or think that racism is exaggerated (IRL and on the internet), it boils down to that they are not blatantly racist(they think everyone should be treated fairly, etc), but they reject the idea that there is much racism in the US (doesn't fit their paradigm). Questioning them further, presenting them with stats such as the huge gap in Wealth, Income(40k black median household income to 70k white median household income), and incarceration rates(blacks are incarcerated at 4-5x than whites), they either say that they don't know, or it might be how certain races are raised. To me, I believe black people in the USA were given the shaft based on slavery, Jim Crow laws, structural racism, etc. and its basically impossible to catch up to the power white people have/had.
  14. The overreaction to George Floyds death is equal to the underreaction of Americans attitude toward racism.
  15. I would take a risk and get a part-time job if you never had one. It will force you to have more structure than you do right now and keeping busy is a good way to not let your mind wonder so much. Don't take the job too seriously though or get upset if it doesn't work out well. There is always another one around the corner.
  16. I think if a democrat went on a forum dominated by republicans, he would be met with at least an equal amount of disagreement. Talking politics often leads to heated conversations.
  17. Although not nearly as interested in politics, I was a Trump supporter in 2016. I didn't care as much about policies at the time, but I didn't want to see more Clintons or Bushs. There are 300+million people in the US, yet relatives of past presidents were being elected a couple terms later, keeping the power in the same hands. About 6 months in, I started to see the divide he was creating, and I started to see his policies negatively affecting the LGBTQ and minority communities. I can't side with him anymore. On a positive note in regards to Trump, he does seem to be a better international negotiator than past US presidents in regards to business dealings.
  18. From my experience talking to stage blue/orange Republicans about it - They start off saying what happened to George Floyd was terrible (like 2% of the convo). They say that most of the protesters don't even know why they are out there. "Why not send his family a card if they really care". "Don't these people have to work". They believe racism is exaggerated.
  19. I think 2nd degree murder is the proper charge and don't wish revenge and do not have a political agenda, so you are wrong.
  20. Ok, my bad, gotcha. You also said -People who are calling for a higher charge are not being objective, (you meant people calling for higher than a 3rd degree charge) That doesn't seem speculation to me, just stating facts. I think in the future I should just assume that your statements are just speculation, maybe I'm reading too much into the conversation. I'm terrible with forum communication.
  21. Thats why I was sooooo surprised to hear you say ---- Leo -3rd degree murder seems like the proper charge here. People who are calling for a higher charge are not being objective, You have a tendency to call out others for jumping to conclusions, but do the same thing the very next second...not many have ability to learn in the sense of "do what I say-not as I do"
  22. Have to put that in my signature, almost like Trump admitted he was wrong for first time , j/k
  23. Did you miss the part where the paramedic checked his pulse and the charged officer kept his knee on his neck for almost 3 minutes AFTER he had no pulse? I mean, honestly, I didn't watch the video the whole way through the first time so maybe that's the reason for your view.
  24. I agree, in the same way a bank robber doesn't intend to kill a bank teller.
