  1. In a global context, SD is about trends. There is no reason to try to move such numbers of people up the spiral under such circumstances.
  2. You're referring to the idea of maximizing resourcefulness in the present moment as opposed to hoping you will be teleported to a more pleasent state?
  3. Pretty sure he'd say true death doesn't ever happen in the universe since it is said to be infinite and infinitely interconnected . Egoic death can occur when a bullet lands in your skull, or when you meditate a lot. gg. It might cover how the fact that someone's heart that starts being is literally no more significant in the grand scheme of things than if a carton of milk tips over and spills. How religion defines the birth and death of an individual as pivotal cosmic events when they are not really, well no more than those that are actually happening every second. I might be 100% wrong though, I'm still not very good at this hehehe.
  4. I really like this explanation too. I completely transitioned a couple of years ago and pretty much live as a stealth transgender person. I've been avoiding looking deeper into the causes and effects of my being transgender but sooner or later I think I will have to do more shadow work regarding it. I mean I've had surgery and feel fine about it and everything, but I've been just so exhausted from all the ideology surrounding this topic (as well as the financial and temporal costs) that I think I only skimmed the surface of it. Basically really unfocused unclear attempts at self improvement that seem to have worked so far, but which I haven't explored in depth. Is it even worth it though? If the self is an illusion in the first place? *sigh*.
  5. Yeah I actually specifically dropped everything and moved from Colorado to southern AZ specifically because I get the sense that cactus just *are*, a lot more than other forms of plants ( or anything else in nature). IDK it's weird. I hate being a parrot, but travelling to new places *does* help. When you have firsthand experiences of new types of things in the universe, it's possible that they will resonate with you more than your local fauna. Perhaps sheerly because of the fact that you didn't grow up with them. Cacti definately resonate a lot with me.
  6. I was insanely lonely and so I went for a hike last weekend. Indoors, everything has a purpose. Your carpet keeps your feet comfy. Your fridge stores food. What is the purpose of this saguaro cactus? It's certainly not there to make you comfy. (pretty much a direct repost of what Leo suggests. meh, it's true, it works).
  7. I regularly use a printer at work. And even though it was working fine I wanted to shake it and beat it with a hammer cus the paper moving literally freaked the crap out of me. I saw blank paper pass through the printer to go on the other side, now full with words. It was quite nice, beautiful even but then 3 seconds later I was like :
  8. This is a really good example of how models suck at representing reality. Seems to be a double edged sword, based on the context, the individual and however its ripple effects dance around in the universe. Let's not paint schizophrenia as if it is a good disorder for everyone - I am sure it can be embraced by certain individuals - but the overall effect on people seems to be of pain on people. Statistically higher suicide rates, high rates of smoking, etc. That said, I believe there are just shades of schizophrenia like there are shades of everything else - everything is blurry anyway. Three of my siblings have had schizophrenia and I've always intuited that there was a dream-like quality to the world. Perhaps a mild form of schizophrenia(ish) jumpstarted my inquiry into nonduality. I believe there is a connection. Some excellent systems thinking and deep insights about conciousness could potentially be used to tackle this issue (aka we need turquoise people, according to your model).
  9. It's too complex to not vent about it from time to time. Usually I will just spam "OMG this is crazy [exciting] [terrifying] [exhilarating]" to an orangie friend even though he is heavily into science and has no idea what I am talking about =D I can't help it though, stuff is crazy. I do however have a strong sense that on some level talking is really pointless. Like really really...really pointless. Like, why won't everyone shut up? Also amusing in a way though hehe (don't mean to be a grumpy poo poo face).
  10. Usually meditate outside, as it offers a greater array of discomforts / comforts. Can't beat that 105 degree Fahrenheit sun. (I do drink water before and after tho).
  11. I feel like I was very fortunate in one sense, because I've seen basically every stage of the spiral in my family, up to green (even when they were all adults). Allowed me to climb up the spiral a bit quicker, I think : Sister and brother 1 were orange Father was pretty solid blue Mother blue / orange Brother 2 with severe schizophrenia was basically beige Brother 3 was kinda red as he was quite violent Brother 4 was an interesting mix of beige and green as he also had schizophrenia Me the hippie. -- Also friendly reminder, to keep other models in mind other than spiral dynamics, it is not cosmic law ^.^
  12. Move. Such an action will reset the brain (partially). Mental illness in general is tied to location more than most people think. Edit: If you are severely or moderately depressed I wouldn't try such a move, but if you think you can handle it and/or that you could have a good support system, it could be very worthwhile.
  13. FIFA football games and wars both feed off the same roots - i.e., the "us v. them" mindset, which makes them slightly disturbing spiritually. You could say that the only large difference between them is that people are smiling in one, and frowning in the other. Nominally they are supposed to be about world unity and friendship, but then you have state sponsored doping (as in Russia during the Olympics). I'd like them a lot more if they embodied the spirit of world unity and ambivalence towards winning or losing. And if players didn't beat each other bloody. Remember, the concept of points and score carries the connotation, this team is "better than" the other. Almost inevitably. I'd prefer reading fiction as it increases empathy with others and increases the total number of world perspectives rattling in your brain.
