@Pernani yes. the key is balance. when you hear "you don't have control" it means to an extent... if i were to ask you right now to raise your right hand, you can raise your right hand at your will - can you not? you can also choose to dance in public or not. so you have free will to an extent which is dependent on your circumstance and the level of master over your body/power of will. a baby does not have much master control over how to move his body etc. a baby/kid does not have much control over if a fart is to be held or just letting it rip. but you have that conscious and deliberate control. so don't be confused about not having that control and the ability to make wise choices along the way. also. you have no control over your heart-beat... infact, that is such an effortless process that it is automatic for you... so there are degrees of the master of effortlessness. breathing is also effortless for you. without conscious awareness it happens on its own. at the same time, when something has occurred, don't waste much time in dreading it - just keep moving forward and on. this is trusting the path and the process. you can drive the car, you can steer it clear of obstacles on the road and pothole etc. but if the road ahead simply is all broken, then you cannot steer clear because the whole of the road is an obstacle. in those moments, trust the path, the power, the one - have faith and miracles will come and save you. -

@Giulio Bevilacqua when you dream at night. are you just the person who appears inside of the dream? upon waking, you can understand and intuit that you were not just the person who was walking/talking in the dream, but you were everyone/thing inside of that dream. all of it was you (your mind). same way. right now, in this "waking state" the ultimate/real you is not just Giulio, it is all - me, Leo, this website. everything. hear these words as you read them silently in your head. you aren't that sound which is reading these words. you are that thing which hears them as they are read. that thing is ALL. that thing is like the Giulio sleeping on the bed enjoying/watching the dream world during his sleep and yet not inside of the dream-world. -

@Pernani tbh. there's no guarantee on way or another as @Serotoninluv said. you may have a smooth sailing or rough waters towards your goal. i like to think of it as starting at a point on a circle and going either clockwise or counter-clockwise. both ways will eventually bring you full-circle back to the same point. i can't recall the exact quote but i think ramana maharshi talks about going the way directly or via knowledge. one path is thru devotion/love of the god. very-much of the man moving towards god and merging into him and the other path is man-losing himself to find god. one is via the man becoming everything = god the other is man losing all and becoming nothing = god clockwise counter-clockwise GOD = everything = nothing both ways, suffering is not avoided technically... because there's no sure-set path that doesn't involve suffering. the 2 ways there can be seen by examples of let's say eckhart tolle/adyashanti... whereupon complete defeat/surrender and letting go - dying to their self - revealed the truth of god. vs sadhguru jaggi who was sitting in meditation, all well in life and just merged with god and felt one with existence/everything. not to say it wasn't WONKY for him. but not your traditional "suffering" there -

SoonHei replied to Harikrishnan's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Harikrishnan the way i see it. There are degrees of realization... To him. His was such a total annihilation that initially he did not take care of his body and it was rotting as he sat in bliss. The larger dream always unfolds on it's own... He had let go totally, not even Caring about what happens or not. So his cancer was just what happened... He maybe could have gotten treatment for it as the primary concern and it would have been likely healed fully. Anyhow, one can be Enlightened and still care how their haircut looks and one can also not care about their haircut. -

@arlin the seeking is what is in the way. but this doesn't mean to stop seeking prematurely. the fish in the water can never find the water if it's looking for it. but if it hears this and stops searching for it... that's not finding the water, that would be giving up... the search will stop once it realizes that the water was always here and now and everywhere... once it knows what water is... "water" is a concept it has heard but doesn't know what it is. so the search will end once you also know what's being looked for. meanwhile concepts/ideas aren't bad. they act as pointers... and that's why the work is very important, meditation, practices etc watch out for the ego stopping the search keep going! until you arrive - and then you will see you never left. -
SoonHei replied to arlin's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
focus on the BOLDED part. Isn't THAT also the EGO? also. it's not that the EGO is not you. it is very much you. but it is a limited you. since YOU are everything. you are also the EGO. and you must have heard, the ego cannot get this. and the ego cannot get that it cannot get this. so it keeps trying to get it. and when it gets tired of trying to get it... what was being looked for to be understood is found. ego trying to get it is like someone searching for the dark using a flashlight. the flashlight ON and searching is what is keeping the one looking for darkness from finding it. so when the battery in the flashlight finally dies out... what's being looked for, is found. -

@arlin they are all talking about the same thing different facets of it. like that blind men touching the elephant and describing how it is... all describing the same giant thing but different parts of it. what he talks about as this being UNKNOWING is same as what others call not-knowing... or living in the now... not knowing what's to come next. if i were to play a music piece for you on a piano. a song you've never heard before. you'd be in a state of unknowing... you would be totally present. not knowing what sound comes next now take that and apply it to life itself. living spontaneously each moment... and how does one do that? but turning off the subtitles... the commentary.. what are the subtitles/commentary. it is thoughts... ideas... it is the mind. be a witness onto your life. a witness simply witnesses... and is not involved. like an audience member watching a movie. -

@arlin Lol The guy who doesn't let you talk?? Hahaha. Yes. I have. Him and Tony Parsons are alike. How did you like his pointers? He'll give you nothing to hang on to ? -
SoonHei replied to arlin's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
I'm suggesting that you cannot die And what dies is not what you are If you find your true self before you die... It's like becoming lucid in the lucid dream and THEN the 'waking up' from it. Can u see that becoming lucid in a dream = waking up while still in a dream state... ? Waking up from the dream into the real life = dying in your dream... But if lucid, you had already died in the dream... Knowing it is a dream and you're beyond it. Same way. That YOU beyond is what "recognises" ... It is "no-one" from the perspective of the dream because it doesn't exist in the dream but is only aware of it. -

"Where do you as a seeker look? There is no path, there is no door, you are already that which you seek, but you don't recognise it for what it is, because it is otherworldly, formless, timeless, transparent and non-physical in nature. You identify only with what you see, that which is physical, but not the greater being that is behind it. Being blind to this truth, you say "I don't believe in a higher power" but if you are alive, you are, in essence, that power. You can awaken to this truth at any time. It is not a journey, but just a simple change in perception. It is not for the chosen few, or just those who deserve it. Neither is it only for those who have read great books or participated in certain rituals, or for the limited resources of the mind to understand it. As your true nature is unchanging all you need to do is look beyond everything that is non-permanent, everything that is physical. You are, as you have always been." -

@arlin pretty much what @Inliytened1 said above ^^^ direct knowing of it. existence is just an eternal ON-ness. there's no OFF mode. an analogy would be clay or sand... you can make objects out of clay or sandcastles / shapes out of sand but what is ever-present beyond the objects made of clay or sandcastles the clay! the sand! and in the same way, what's ever-present is the consciousness. and ultimately you come to KNOW that that is what YOU are. you wrote in your other topic "When you die and awareness falls away... well it does not fall away. It just is recognized that it never really happened." who/what is doing the recognition? that which remains after the you-which-dies is dissolved like an object made out of clay is dissolved - leaving behind the clay/consciousness you come to KNOW that YOU can never die... and what dies is a TV Program... it ends, a new one begins. the TV Screen is always ON. -

SoonHei replied to MusicalPotato's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@seeking_brilliance cool and yes. agreed. meditation/affirmations... such that your life becomes a lucid living... from the ultimate view, this is a dream right now as well - so it follows that naturally -

nothing really has any opposites. opposites are ideas/concepts. what is "up" if there is no "down" up is defined in terms of it's opposite. How come absolute consciousness has no opposites? Well... it's ABSOLUTE to begin with how can something which is an ABSOLUTE (meaning something which has no opposite) have an opposite? it's almost like you're asking How come the store is open during their business hours? but all these are sounds! concepts! nothing! Oh, look! A butterfly! >8< -

take... it... slow... breathe... stretch... shake... let it go... but go slow... I recall my 1st lucid dream, lasted like 5 seconds - the excitement was uncontainable! punched some walls and flew real quick in those 5 seconds though... was flying to who knows where to do who knows what... but I woke up -

@Nak Khid I know i exist No assumption here -
SoonHei replied to Nak Khid's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Nak Khid THE TRUTH is simply a term used to POINT to that-which-cannot-be-directly-pointed-at it is also called enlightenment, oneness, non-duality - many names! but all are just names/labels given to it. I have never eaten an apple. now please, tell me what it tastes like... as you can see, you will use words to explain the taste, right. but if i have never eaten an apple, you words CANNOT make me taste it. to taste it, i must eat an apple. that's the best. all the rest of it are simply words/concepts attempting to capture the taste. another example would be to try and make someone smell a scent they have never smelled before using words. words only point. you must smell it with your nose to KNOW the TRUTH/SMELL
