I think Jair Bolsonaro is pretty blue with shades of red. I created a topic here about Brazilian politics and Leo said that our country is evolving from blue to orange, which is a hard transformation.

Day 21 here. Feeling more energetic than normal but still a bit unfocused.
-
Started a NoFap challenge 10 days ago and I'm feeling myself more energized. I feel more positive and I have done many activities during my whole day. The benefits are still light, but I'm very positive they'll increase. I'll just check this topic more often (many important materials here).

I'm not sure if this thread should be started in Health, Fitness, Nutrition or in Serious Emotional Problems. Sorry if I started in the wrong place. I'm diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder (before that, it was schizophrenia). I have already taken different types of psychiatric drugs like haloperidol, olanzapine, aripiprazole, escitalopram, fluoxetine, clomipramine and carbolitium. It was told me that if I took these medicines things would get better. The reality is when I took haloperidol (Haldol), I became a zombie. When I took olanzapine, I gained a lot of pounds and when I took aripiprazole, I still got sedated. There were many other side effects like sexual dysfunction, cognitive issues and tardive dyskinesia (a dangerous one). Many people may still think: "But, Luiz, you've got a mental disease. You need to take your medicines." It would be stupid if I stopped my medicines cold turkey, but there are studies suggesting that I don't need to take them for my entire life as many psychiatrists are saying. When I heard the first time about the finnish treatment Open Dialogue for people who have schizophrenia, I suspected that maybe I could treat my "disease" with no medications. The Open Dialogue approach is a kind of treatment that use no medication or minimal amount of it. There is also the Soteria model of treatment for people with mental disorder, which tends to use no medication. I'm not entirely against medications. I think they are an important tool to use when treating someone with a mental disorder, but they are used indiscriminately by many psychiatrists, even in Brazil. When I watched this lecture by Robert Whitaker, I understood why psychiatric drugs are overrated nowadays: As I said before, psychiatric drugs are important for the treatment of mental disorders, but psychiatrists should make it clear that medicines have many side effects and can cause a lot of health problems. In my first involuntary hospitalization, they forced medication on me and, even if I was psychotic, I think it should be respected my willing of not taking drugs. I believe that many psychiatrists have many intere$t$ and business with Big Pharma. It's a shame we have a whole industry taking advantage of people's health. Despite of my anger, it's okay because I'm more well informed and it open doors for me to understand how to grow spiritually and emotionally.

Hi, @Gryner! I hope you're fine. I'm diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder and I had psychosis (almost twice). You said you're having some panic attacks. I wonder if these panic attacks happen when you are among people because I had them too. It may be negative symptoms of schizophrenia. I know, schizophrenia is not a fancy word, but I wouldn't be so desperate about it. Leo talks about legit mental illnesses, but that's a unique thing that I don't agree with him. Dellusions and hallucinations are real and you may even have brain damage due to psychosis (I think if you get too much time out of consensual reality, you may suffer some damages), but it doesn't mean you can't heal. Remember also that neuroplasticity helps a lot. Take a look at Sean Blackwell's videos on YouTube. If you love reading, take a look at Rethinking Madness by Paris Williams. The TEDx Talks by Phil Borges is also interesting (he created a documentary called CRAZYWISE). It's important to keep taking your medicines while you can't figure out everything that happened and that is happening. I think you'll need to face your psychosis again, but do it in your own pace. Do it steadily. I was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder 3 years ago and just now I'm starting to do my researches about holotropic breathing. Maybe I'll do holotropic breathing next year or maybe I won't. I just need to carefully pay attention to my mind and my conditions before doing it. Do your research and be aware that psychiatry has a very Orange paradigm (Spiral Dynamics). There are many documentaries about it like Take Those Broken Wings by Daniel Mackler (it's on YouTube and it is for free). You may want to take a look at the work done at some Soteria houses (treatment model created by Loren Mosher) and at the project Open Dialogue in Finland. Take care, man! If you need any help, we're here for you. Peace! -

I think so. Sean Blackwell helps people diagnosed with bipolar disorder to do holotropic breathing. I think you can do shamanic breathing even while taking antipsychotics, but I wouldn't do it by myself. I would have skilled people to help me in a safe environment (I take antipsychotics and I'm diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder). -
I ask it because I'm diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder and I don't think it's a good idea to do 30 minutes of shamanic breathing by myself. That's why I ask if it's possible to do it gradually. Or is it like black and white? If I do shamanic breathing for 10 minutes and stop, will it be less intense? I watched many Sean Blackwell's videos and I'm starting to know more about Stanislav Grof (I heard he even worked with schizophrenics).

Thank you! I'm gonna take a look at Wim Hof's method. But I thought his method was more about facing cold, and not facing emotional issues. I'll take a look anyway. I read some comments of people who felt something even after 15 minutes. -

It remembers me Julien Blanc. After his media scandal, he came with better material. -
Of course I can :). Sean is travelling at the moment and I will contact him again on October. He works with holotropic breathing (Stanislav Grof) and says it's not necessary to stop medicines to start the process. In the meantime, I'm doing self-knowledge work. I need to dig deeper in order to understand my soul and my true life purpose. If you want to take a look at Sean's videos, here's one of them: https://youtu.be/B3OQ2_u-dbU

I had already both experiences: lucid dreams and out of body projection. Around three months ago I almost had an out of body experience, but I got frightened and didn't want to let my soul get out of my body (I felt a huge pressure and tingling on my crown chakra, so maybe my Spirit Guide wanted to contact me). After one day I had another out of body experience, but I generally get worried and I go back to my body. I remember a lucid dream I had around 3-4 years ago. I was swimming on a tower. After descending this tower, there was a woman walking on the streets. I can't remember exactly how she was, but I felt it meant something. This woman is still a mystery for me. I also had some negative experiences, like getting inside a closed room and being not able to get out of it and also being attacked by vampires. I remember also a lucid dream I had with Dalai Lama. I was getting psychotic those days, but I still was able to have lucid dreams. Dalai Lama was just pointing a glass filled with water and looking at me. -

I don't think so. Maybe this Carl Jung's quote defines depression better: "No tree, it is said, can grow to heaven unless its roots reach down to hell." I believe many guys here passed through depression and, after the storm, found much better place under the sun. -
brugluiz replied to Roman25's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Maybe it depends on several factors, even people's karma. Depression is not a bad thing at all. Many geniuses of history had depression, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder and even schizophrenia. Such mental disorders are transformation, and not something to be ashamed of. -
Interesting topic. I'm not into public speaking, but I want to learn from it. Leo has a wonderful speech (his videos). He talks for 1 hour with no stop and explain very well the subject. I wonder which strategies he uses.

Have you ever thought on asking your Spirit Guides what you can do? They can't give you an absolute answer, but they can help you.
-
I think so. You can at least learn about their perspective.

Hi, guys! I was having a discussion with a guy and he told me it's not worthy to learn about the self (the concept of self used by transpersonal therapists) with Ken Wilber because he's not an enlightened being (he's not a Buda as this guy said). This guy said to me he meditates for more than 2 years and found peace states during his meditations (it seems he's using a meditation technique called Japa). I'm reading a Ken Wilber's book called A Visão Integral (English title is The Integral Vision). I'm finding the book fascinating and it's helping me to understand concepts of human consciousness. I'm not sure of how I should interpret the perspective of this guy. Is it possible I'm delluding myself by studying Ken Wilber?
-
It's not a waste of time. But be aware that even science is corrupted.
-
Thank you, @Serotoninluv! Wilber's perspective is really fascinating, but there are many other stuff to study.

Thank you for explanation, @Michael569! It makes sense. A therapist once told me if I'm feeling too much pain, it was the case of resting for some time. Go walking is pretty okay for me and swimming will probably help me by strengthening my muscles. I tried accupuncture and a method called ventosa here in Brazil. The accupuncture, like a miracle, helped with my pain a lot. After one day, the pain was back again, but I think if I had regular sessions of accupuncture, I would have more benefits. Thank you, @Feel Good! I will take a look at this video. Just have put it on my playlist. Thank you, @Salvijus! It's very important to understand that alopathy is still valid for emergencies, but many cases can be treated with a less abrupt manner. That's wonderful, @Recursoinominado! I hope you keep having progress. I heard from some people that they take benefits from these guided meditation that focus on chakras.
-
Just bought some books of the list. This book list is fascinating.
-
Hi, @Recursoinominado! Thank you for your answer! Maybe my pain is chronic, but it's getting better with time. I'm curious if your practices are helping you. Is it working?
-
I got it. Maybe he seems to be angry due to his masculine energy. Sometimes we get triggered by such behaviors due to a problem we had with our father or masculine figure. I like your avatar by the way. It remembers me Spiral Dynamics.
-
Thank you, @Feel Good You're also welcome I want to try other professionals (because the voice of an expert is very important) and I'm gathering information to understand which kind of physician fits better.

Thank you for reading Just read about osteopathy and it seems to be similar to physiotherapy. I've done physiotherapy, but my crisis got worse after some sessions, then I stopped it. Now my sciatica is better, so maybe I should do it again.
