Our senses is what is keeping the illusion "consistent"... materialism is an illusion, but very consistent. Einstein himself said that : “Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one” If you had different "senses" , for example if you could view infrared light or ultraviolet and perceive differently, your "material reality" would be totally different. But the true reality (we can call it spirit, or God, Brahman, existence) will existe behind that "illusion"... IMO

I have the inverse problem, I can watch videos and read books but I can't sit more than half hour. I have to make my biggest effort to be half hour sitting... Do you get distracted when reading or watching videos? It happens to me when I am reading a book, but I can focus again on the book and continue.

Because that's what you are? You are the one, eternal, pure, unchanging witness of everything. You are infinity. The ego is the one who doesn't want to see that, because is too scary for him (ego) and it will means the end of his delusion.

To achieve that level of understanding you must live thousands lives hehehe... just kidding, but that's not something we will be doing in this life. Only master like Jesus for example, he died and came back. You have to be an avatar to achieve that. And once you are at a level where your mind is ready for it, you will do it. Now it sounds crazy, because we are at a very low consciousness level. When they leave the body, they are not dying are they are not losing the experience of existence. They become existence themselves.

I read parts of the book and opened something new for me that I didn't know that the tibetans also talked about demons, hell, the devil and stuff like that. I think all that is just creations of consciousness, depending on what level of consciousness you are when you die, if you are still attached to fears, etc... all those thoughts come to you and create a kind of "hell", until you learn to accept those thoughts and fears and transcend them. I don't know, just my 2 cents.

Just look for the presence inside you that is aware of the confusion. Observe the thoughts, be the observer of the thoughts and you will see that you are not the thoughts, so... you are not confused. You are aware of confusion. One thing that helped me a lot to separate my awareness from the thoughts was mindful meditation. There's a lot of videos, even Leo did one. If you are not attached to the thoughts, there's nothing to fear. Fear is just a thought, be aware of the thought, investigate it and you will see that it has no fundaments. Fear arises, but you don't have to be fearful of nothing.

Nihilism needs a person who is a nihilist. But, there's no person. The ego needs to have a "meaning" because it wants objects of the world, it can be money, power, or something that is valuable for it. Awareness doesn't want anything, it doesn't need any purpose, its purpose is just to BE. That's the most important purpose in life. IMO. :-)

You are joy and delight. You are pure bliss. What does not feel the bliss is the ego that is always worried, and bored, etc... That's why when you do meditation and you can see reality the way it is, without the filter of the ego, you feel bliss. Because that's what you are, you are pure bliss. :-)

That's true @Nahm, basically what "we" realize is that "we" are that. In reality is not that we are looking for GOD, we are looking for our true nature. :-)

In my opinion there's not such a thing as an atheist. And atheist believes anyway in an idea of creation, it doesn't matter if it is the big bang, or some theory. Like a religious person the atheist sees a part of the truth and he denies the idea of GOD of the religious man. But not GOD/REALITY/THAT/WHAT IS .... because the idea of GOD that the religious person has is just that, an idea. It's not the real thing. If we could describe REALITY with words we wouldn't be here sharing different opinions about what REALITY is... or that Higher Power as @Highest has said. I like that name... higher power. :-)

GOD is just a word ... It's like the story of the blind people who were touching an elephant and they asked them to describe what it was.

Maybe you should meet sometimes on a cafe or bar and let everyone know that, so probably others will want to go and see what are you doing. There's always people who want to write or draw or take pictures and they don't have where publish them. Make some posters about the meetings and place it on the school board or hand them out to other students.
