  1. @Space It's a commentary on The Perennial Philosophy, a book I highly recommend. You'd be surprised man, the ladies dig my humor and trippy Alex Grey outfit Of course you can always blast off and take a hit of 5 MEO or a 10 day vipassana retreat to have a direct experience of God, which would be 100x more powerful anything I could ever describe in a life time. That's not the point of these videos, this is a philosophy channel after all I guess since language is so useless, why did you bother to sign up for a forum? Perhaps some of the Alan Watts videos I have on the channel will be a bit more up your alley.
  2. @Leo Gura When having a mystical experience through meditation or other means, how do you know that the experience is genuine, and not just your imagination?
  3. I've put together a pretty thorough presentation on the philosophy of Marxism and the philosophy of Capitalism to show how dysfunctional both these ideologies can be at their extremes. I did my best to show multiple points of view on this topic and even point to a bit of a non dual perspective here and there. What do you think of the arguments that are being made here? I'm making the kind of content that I wish were shown in school.
  4. My ultimate view comes down to this. Both of these systems are exploitative, but at least under capitalism I can have a decent amount of choice while being exploited. Capitalism is a relatively decent system, but still needs some polish. Fundamentally our values and state of consciousness need to change before anything else, then the economic systems will reflect accordingly.
  5. @Leo Gura Agreed. The Nordic countries also have better criminal justice as well.
  6. @Leo Gura Alright, "Capitalist Leaning" societies to be precise
  7. @Husseinisdoingfine My point in creating the video was to examine both worldviews and see which one is more damaging and to what degree. Yes, in Capitalist societies, there is a great deal of exploitation and greed. However, it is still possible to move upward. Perhaps a synergy of Capitalism and Socialism is possible, that way business can use its strengths to provide products and services, while still having a few guardrails to create more fair market.
  8. @herghly Start by asking yourself what you want to create and build in the world
  9. I'm excited to see the response on this one because I've wanted to get it out there for some time. The theme of the content I've been making for this month is Materialism. In the previous two videos I addressed the issue of right livelihood in relation to enlightenment. As Leo says, you don't want to be enlightened and working at seven eleven, or for some gun manufacturer. This is a difficult issue, how do we support ourselves in a conscious way, when we live in a society that is so unconscious? Perhaps you could leave a few examples of alternatives to wage slavery, for others to aspire to.
  10. @JosephKnecht I enjoyed making it, along with one of my team members
  11. I have a few cinematic Alan Watts edits you may find to be of use. There's also some footage I used from "The Fountain" which was a pretty far out movie. Renegade Blueberry also had a few Ayahuasca scenes. Avatar the Last Air Bender had a bit of turquoise in it as well.
  12. @JosephKnecht I guess what I meant to say was "embodying" enlightenment. Sure, existence just is, all is one, there is only being, everything else is narrative. But with that in mind, if you see all of reality as your self, can you really be a wall street banker that gouges people of their life savings? Can you be a Sargent that instructs his troops to rape and pillage local villagers? Sure, in a cosmic sense, we are all of these things. But in a practical sense, right livelihood is necessary to avoid Zen Devilry. In the commentary I made after this, I show how even our lifestyle decisions are a part of right livelihood, and just how complex of a problem this is.
  13. To what degree is Right Livelihood necessary for attaining enlightenment?
  14. To what extent Is it possible to embody the Buddhist concept of "Right Livelihood" while also living in an American/Capitalist style society? Do the two clash?
  15. What role do you think Mediums have in the evolution of consciousness? What do the media and mediums of a society tell us about their stage in spiral dynamics?
  16. Hello everyone, hope you're having a groovy weekend so far. This is my very first short film where I take the non dual teachings of Leo and others into a dialogue between the higher self and lower self. I even briefly reference the Neti Neti method for a bit! This is a new medium I'm exploring and getting used to, so there's plenty of room for improvement and learning along the way. I hope you find this skit to your amusement, would love to hear your input
  17. This is an excerpt from a larger interview with Doshin Roshi, in which he examines the shadow of post-modern, stage green thinking. It's extremely relevant in this post-truth, virtue signalling, social media driven environment where dialogue currently takes place. It's a great reminder that all of this is part of the evolutionary process toward higher and higher states of consciousness. No matter what stage of the spiral, there is always a shadow to be vigilant of.
  18. @lmfao From my understanding of Peterson's lectures. A hierarchy would not be stable if the commander was totally greedy. This is shown when a leader of chimps is too greedy, the chimps take him out when he isn't watching. There is the Pareto distribution for instance which states 20% of seeds get 80% of the results. It could be even less than that in some cases. For instance, on my youtube channel, only a handful of videos get thousands of views. This is a feature of reality. and a very difficult problem to solve. A very tedious and frustrating problem
  19. @Leo Gura I wish the mainstream conversation was shifted to economics rather then the petty culture stuff, I agree. It's amazing that so many Americans, who are so obsessed with material things have no understanding of the economic system, and of how badly they're being screwed.
  20. @Leo Gura Maybe all Americans aren't sipping on green juice and not shaving the armpits quite yet. However, Millennials and Zoomers don't exactly strike me as systematic thinkers either Introducing more compassion and humanity to Capitalism is great. The problem I have is when people my age think using cheap 3 word slogans and a black profile pick constitutes "activism" and "sticking it to the man!" (what a joke). It's typical of green to use their politics/spirituality as a fashion statement. None of this is new though. Doshin observed he experienced similar things in the counter culture of the sixties. Some of Peterson's teachings are necessary in a time where the mainstream culture is so permissive. In fact, I dropped out of the university system, having been fed up with how miserable and pathetic of an institution it really is. I'm not right wing or left wing, both parties are bought by the banks. But you have to admit the left is currently going a bit Looney Tunes, and out of touch with the original spirit of liberalism. Even leftists intellectuals such as Sam Harris are saying the left is going too far, and becoming unreasonable. The censorship of Steven Pinker is a great example. I'm also curious who in here listened to the entire Doshin interview in all glorious forty minutes. I thought it was actually quite articulate and measured. Anyways, that's my two cents
  21. @Heart of Space How's he apocalyptic? There is always turmoil, it is evolution. Every step in the evolutionary process has its challenges.
  22. I thought it was interesting hearing this from a Zen Master. Doshin Roshi is also big on spiral dynamics/integral theory.
  23. @Extreme Z7 Of course, right wingers have preachy, virtue signalling tendencies as well. However, our society is moving into a more stage green direction, so it is more obvious and pervasive. The point being, we always have more evolving to do
  24. @lmfao Absolutely, I love the troubleshooting process of Yellow
