  1. That's actually an excellent example on the problems with Tolerance.. It's like a double edged sword..
  2. @Anderz I just abandoned a cart. Lol joking. First thing is that law or rule needs to be meaningful and support the security of a person to expect people to follow it. For example if a rule says that I'm not entitled to get medical support simply because I lost my ID card or because my name is spelled the wrong way, I think I wouldn't care about following such a law. Because it threatens my survival and doesn't care about me or my issues. So laws need to be designed to make common sense. Second is that as long as humanity survives, laws will exist because a state of purity where everyone truly respects each other is only a pipedream. Because of the question of survival and given our reptilian brains, we're always going to need laws to prevent people from predating each other. I won't use the word law here. Because a law can mean anything. But universal ethics remain more or less the same. So if someone is against a law, I'd want to know what is it they're having a problem with. But if someone is against ethics, then they are most likely sociopathic and they need to be dealt with even stricter laws.
  3. The White Supremacists have ruined 2 symbols here. One is the Hindu symbol of Swastika which means peace and prosperity and not how the Nazis define it. And the other is the Tiki torch. Tiki torches are used by Islanders and in Polynesian cultures and they are a great addition to gardens and sunset parties. White Supremacists sure know how to screw up all the nice things. Why don't they just stick to their Viking horns? Shamelessly stealing other culture's symbols.
  4. @mmKay lol that's some 6th century logic.. I've never abandoned carts but I guess I will start doing that just to prove that I'm a human. Such narratives is what's wrong with society. Taking little things too far. People need law and order to discipline sociopaths. But at the same time, if little things are taken out of context, then the law is not a meaningful law anymore but an Authoritarian red line that people shouldn't cross. Recipe for Authoritarian Stage Red/Blue culture.
  5. Hmm.. The thing is let's say I have a product that I sell to people. It's my responsibility to see how my product is being used and how it benefits people. If my product is being associated with making bombs and if my company trademark is being put on flags that are being used by violent extremists, I will obviously have a problem with that. I will tell the extremist group to not use my company logo because I don't want my product to be associated with their message or concept. Also I don't want my product to be used the way they are using it. For example my product is meant for health. It's meant as a lotion on the body. Let's say the extremist group is using my lotion as an ingredient in poisoning drinks and giving it to people. I would be extremely upset with how my product is being used in a nefarious way which could impact my brand name and its reputation. What if they tamper with my product and add some harmful ingredients to it and sell it back on the market? Will I be okay with it? I will most likely file a lawsuit, right? Similarly Tech companies are providing a service. But there are basic terms and conditions on how to use the service that those who use the service agree to during the signing up process.. For example, do you expect Leo to be okay if this website is used for selling drugs? He won't be okay. Because that's not in the terms and conditions on how to use this website. This is not about kicking out the right wing, that would be called discrimination. You can clearly see how only individuals and specific groups are being taken off twitter or Facebook because it does not align with the values associated with their product. They have the right to sell their product in a free global market and all decisions on how such a product is being used or marketed belongs to their decisions on licensing and agreement. If you don't read the fine print on Community rules and Guidelines which are once again their product related agreement, it's your issue and they reserve the right for you to stop using their products.. This is such a simple concept. Remember that Twitter or Facebook are not owned by USA government but by business owners in a free market.
  6. Ok a few of my criticisms of Sam Harris. Just a couple of points. His race based segregating mindset. He doesn't realize that he is himself playing identity politics meanwhile accusing others of the same. Disparaging narratives about black people in a recent video. I forgot which one. Entitled attitude Rationalistic thinking and reductionist approach. A philosopher will have a hard time with him. His spirituality is kinda flaky. His inability to accept other people's opinions and imposing his own as superior. Always trying to win the argument in some manner by giving the appearance that he is the smarter one instead of trying to understand the other person's point of view His almost cult like following of flying monkeys who come to his rescue and pretend like he is a Saint His elitist mentality. (I won't even go there) His need to make science look spiritual when spirituality and science are two different things. His take on morality as simply a system to keep people in order.
  7. Does this vaccine mean that the ones who are vaccinated won't get Covid-19 despite being in contact with an infected or ill person or source of virus?

  14. If I engage with my phone or video games, my need for socialization will subsequently decline. Because my mind is getting its supply from some other source. Similarly if I seek happiness inside and never have to rely on an external source then I will be less likely to want a relationship and maybe take the relationship for granted because my needs are already fulfilled. Neediness to the extreme is a problem because it may indicate signs of selfishness, creepy behavior, obsession, lack of respect etc. But a healthy dose of neediness is like a binding agent to keep two people together.. If I sit here and say I don't need friends, I will most likely end up not having any.. I don't buy into the whole "no need" theory. It looks isolating to me. Just like any other thing with humanity, I believe everything lies in the middle. In Balance. So just as I see extreme neediness as a huge problem, I also see zero neediness as the other extreme end and also a problem.. I think there is absolutely nothing wrong with a healthy minimum sustainable dose of neediness.
  15. How will you give them happiness if you don't have any neediness for them? Isn't it like a give and take sort of a thing? If you don't need them, wouldn't you have the same attitude toward them?

  20. I'm just wondering how women cope with men who only keep demanding Such men even cheat in marriages. Best advice - not to marry such men. Get to know them way before waiting for that ring. Because life sucks, and for some people, they just aren't marriage material. It takes a shit ton of effort to make a marriage work and teenagey needs dont have much space in that. If someone wants marriage then be fully prepared for what comes with it. Or else go for one night stands. Much better than throwing a pregnant woman or a single mother in pain.
