  1. @isabel Yeah, the author isn't saying that you won't still love and cherish your son/daughter, but rather that the perspective of human love will change with your awakening. It's nothing bad.
  2. I have found that this can get me in a meditative state of mind faster than sitting in silence. You'll need headphones - it doesn't work without them. Your first thought might be that there's no way you could meditate to that weird noise, but try it for a full meditation session and see. It doesn't have to be loud.
  3. I don't think I can help you, other than to say I'm sorry that you're struggling right now.
  4. ?

I really love him. He's so childlike.....his face, his expressions, his jokes, his love of just being his goofy self. ET is the man!
  5. Keep in mind that English isn't the first language of most of the people being interviewed there. With a foreign language, the first thing most people learn and the last thing most people forget is the curse words, especially the sex ones. Those folks were all decent in the English department, but the cursing might be a kneejerk reaction to being asked to answer a deep question in a language they aren't 100% confident in speaking. Totally possible that they're genuine fuckin' perverts, though.
  6. @Jack River and @SoonHei , this is a very useful thread. I'll read it again later when I'm more....thoughtless. That's so thoughtful of me, isn't it?
  7. @MiracleMan Some retreats have actual chairs available for older folks or people with prohibitive pain. By the 6th day, half the class was sitting in them, so don't feel bad.
  8. @Jack River There's a lot of suffering in just understanding it conceptually. In me, it creates such an intent. An intention to understand, to do, to SEE. And all the while I know that the vehicle is in reverse when that intention and desire is strongest. It's confounding and confusing and soooo seductive.
  9. @Jack River Right, while most of his audience can conceptualize his teachings, very few will experience them.
  10. @Serotoninluv Good job, you killed the genie, man.
  11. Hahahaha, yep and I still don't know if he was simply in the habit of saying that stuff or if he truly wondered whether or not people were following what he was saying. His audiences were very self-selected, so I'm sure most were understanding his points.
  12. Anyone here read the book that she/he suggests?
  13. @Strikr LOL, the stuff some of you guys say here....
  14. This is strong, strong stuff. And Charlotte, we're all in your corner. If the ego is squawkin' then you're probably onto something good! * hug *
  15. @Charlotte Hey baby, wutchoo doin' tonight? That was funny and refreshingly different. I admire your calm, confident demeanor. I was going to say that I envy it, but I think admire says it best. Good stuff, brother.
  16. LOL, there are some very interesting characters on this forum!
  17. Cool, I'm jealous! I did a 7-day Vip retreat earlier this year and got a lot out of it. The first 3 days were the hardest for me, but you get into a groove, even if it feels like you don't. Your mind will quiet down in ways you've likely never experienced consciously. And your back will hurt like a mo'fo.
  18. I love Krishnamurti. "Are you....are getting this? I just don't know if your getting this...." Why can't Leo be a guru? Sure, the odds of most anyone becoming a guru are very low, but he's only 35 or so. Anything could happen in the next 40 years.
  19. I never researched the guy.....has he given any explanation as to his motivation? People don't do that shit just as a stunt. He's obviously an excellent meditator.
  20. @Shin Nope, cuz those are fake Star Wars movies. Fake news, baby! The real series ended with Return of the Jedi.
  21. Did you check out the thread today about the kid who does 4-hour sits (with a shit-eatin' grin) and posts them on YouTube? My hat's off to the guy.
  22. If you're like me, it looks daunting before you start, but when all your sits are done, you think "I could do that every day!" It does feel good.
  23. @Jed Vassallo My guess is that he's collecting data, both personal and mainstream. But yeah, I'm curious about what he has to say.
