Yes and No. They don't exist because perspectives or separation of No Self is an 'illusion'. Yes because within the 'illusion' infinite perspective exist. Consciousness or Oneness is paradoxically expressed as Infinity Sort of how you may have two eyeballs that capture different images, but your brain combines them to create ONE vision. -------------- Considering that you are seeing your perspective because you are seeing through a lens that is your brain. Imagine your sensory perceptions are a doorway to your particular small perspective, but the consciousness that is seeing through this doorway is universal. It's like our bodies/brains are different doors or windows to look through, but ultimately its consciousness looking at itself through itself. The strange loop video will help explain that part more-so. Edit: Also contemplate that you have different perspectives within yourself too haha. -

This seems to be relevant to what Leo said in the last video "What is Love?". I'll reiterate it here, these individuals appear to have only experienced "No Self", but lack the experience of "infinite love". Honestly, if they haven't tried psychedelics than its very hard to take their experiences seriously for me personally. You can meditate for 10 years and 3 years of those 10 years can literally be poor meditation (monkey mind, distraction, resistance, not understanding what meditation actually is). The other two can be dull stillness experiences, then the last 5 years you are finally perfecting it, but maybe you only have been focusing on one technique. Literally so many variables... but You can't fuck up a DMT trip though. Still, I have experienced deep love within myself through meditation and I am not the most disciplined meditator on this forum. Perhaps they are so focused on objectivity that they ignore the subjectivity of their experience, not realizing that our subjective selves are part of the absolute infinity. Another thing, the problem with these podcasts or discussions of non-duality is that its literally pretty much a waste of time, unless you are a beginner. There is too much thinking, thoughts, trying to define shit that is undefinable lol. If you want to experience non-duality, you gotta literally shut up and be present. Nothing to figure out, you will only "figure it out" through being it. The love comes from recognizing the beauty, intricacy, infinite aspect of reality, its absolutely amazing, that awe and realizing its all from within brings forth so much love for me. Maybe these individuals don't got enough self-love and struggle? who knows. This is why I won't listen to the whole podcast, decades of meditation won't cut it for me. If you don't have DEEP wisdom from consciousness work besides nihilism then it's not a wholesome experience. Here we go, on the video you showed me 41:05 - "we would know they are values, as opposed to something baked into the fabric of universe" ANYTHING THAT YOU EXPERIENCE IS PART OF THE FABRIC OF UNIVERSE. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neo-Advaita Also I dare you or anyone to find something more fundamental than consciousness lol. -

Be careful contemplating widely, it can easily turn into bizarre overthinking. Try to get more grounded in being through silence and the present moment. -

I am with @abrakamowse on this. That is pretty much how I interpret Devil's wrongdoing. I should also mention @Torkys that last year I also seriously considered the idea of becoming a Christian or Muslim and following scriptures. I own a copy of the international version of the Bible and an English translation of the Quran. Admittedly, I did not read all of it, but I read pieces and I still plan on reading them in the future. I was also listening to lectures as well from well known religious individuals such as: Nouman Ali Khan And Joel Osteen (who honestly I still really like, despite the controversy): But I ended up not following through due to the intolerance of my method of spirituality which involves psychedelics. I also found religious people to be close-minded to whatever was not already claimed by their scripture. Did not feel right, but I implore you to explore and respect you for being open-minded. During the process I also found Stevens videos and found his testimony interesting. -

Thank you for the reply that is informative! Not directed at you, but I can add that I have seen this line of reasoning used by other Christians when it comes to use of psychedelics. they would claim that psychedelics leaves one open to attacks by the devil or evil spirits. I appreciate you answering and this is not necessarily directed at you. This line of reasoning only leaves me with more questions such as: 1. How does one explain individuals such as Sadhguru who have spent their whole lives "emptying their minds" (I prefer the phrase 'staying present') and yet they do not appear to perform explicitly evil acts. We would have to define what are evil acts as well... 2. Isn't this what happened to Jesus in the desert? Isn't facing the devil and then denying his temptation going to bring you closer to God. 3. There is still the mystery of what Jesus did before he took on the role of messiah. Christians claim he was carpenter with no evidence. 4. How is devil's doing not God's doing considering that God is the creator of everything, knows everything, and IS everything? -
Best description of love I have found: Love is real, real is love Love is feeling, feeling love Love is wanting to be loved Love is touch, touch is love Love is reaching, reaching love Love is asking to be loved Love is you You and me Love is knowing We can be Love is free, free is love Love is living, living love Love is needing to be loved

Ya'll should stop labeling and boxing men and women. It's literally a waste of time and your downfall. Yeah, there are some nice guides, but ultimately, it's dumb because everyone is different.

what is this nonsense? I have a minor in Neuroscience and this guy's grasp of Neuroscience is straight up laughable. He simplifies all experiences to be the work of dopamine and tries to reduce the complexity of meditation and mystical experiences with terms such as alpha and beta waves. Are we not gonna consider that neuroscience is still in primitive times and that the brain is a lot more complex than dopamine and alpha waves? Plus where is his citations about these studies he is so called talking about? Didn't even mention the title of a paper, the journal, nor the scientist. If you're gonna talk scientifically at least back it up with scientific data. I also think his grasp of meditation is wack. Meditation isn't about getting into a sleepy trance... That's an indication that your meditation process is WEAK. you should be alert, awake, and aware when you are meditating, otherwise you are pretty much wasting your time, doesn't matter how long you meditate. The whole point of emptying your mind is to get all of the distraction of ego out of the way, so you can tune in to reality in a purer way. -
SgtPepper replied to okulele's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
explain?. Meditation is just self-reflection. -
Go to social events, talk to people, find someone who you like, if you are hitting it off with someone, ask them if they want to engage in a casual relationship.

definitely this. Also BREATHE. whenever you're feeling anxious, you need to acknowledge your breathe flow and notice if its shallow, then proceed to take big wholesome slow-relaxed breathes. and get inside your body, relax it all. Body awareness video will be very helpful. Then just be yourself and be aware of everyone's facial expression, body language. Don't overthink it, just be aware of it.

This stuff is nuance. But essentially, as a male you want to be comfortable with your skin and fully into your emotions and feelings. However, you also gotta be independent and not whiny. It's the tone of your expression, you feel me? Don't think women do not like emotional because they definitely do, you think men are emotional in music? Still think women don't like emotional guys? You just have to learn the balance of it. Men are emotional creatures. and wow. This is dramatic and pretty much nonsense. some girls do like funny, self-confident, muscular, socially skilled, and dominant guys tho. Nothing wrong with that either.

lmfao. To OP, you are definitely not alone, I myself have experienced this stuff. They usually happen at random too kind of like how you describe it. -

Alcoholism is terrible. Drinking at social events is fine. I do find drunkness to be kind of against mindfulness overall, but I have been drunk and felt mindful. -

Very cool, I love it when others transcend themselves. But musically I ain't feeling it, it could have been a lot more authentic and emotionally driven like her older music, but thats just my opinion -
Maybe take up another interest? instead of consuming why not create? do you like drawing, painting, music?

I agree with you OP. JP has great sensible advice and I find it helpful. I would say to try to figure what skills you would want to learn that you like that can earn you money. A life purpose or you can do physical labour to earn money in the short term. Learn a vocational skill like carpentry, electrician, or plumbing. I am not 100%, but from what I understand, its cheaper and shorter duration than college. In addition, you could eventually open your own business if you wanted to. I think Nahm has good advice. Take it one step at a time, you gotta live more presently and be more focused about what you can do now to create a future. Really though, only your soul knows what to do. Get in touch with yourself.

If JP truly knew, he'd be there talking about it. I agree with you. This is why I am studying to become a clinical psychologist and will try to be active force on the psychedelic front. Some professors weren't just uninformed though, they had a position that psychedelics were dangerous. Of course you're gonna have those professors who probably did it in their youth a couple of times though and probably kept it a secret. Edit: I think there is a big stigma around psychs, it's gonna take a while for people to get into this new form of energy. Let alone stuff like Kriya Yoga and Bioenergetics. -

Leo, you are absolutely right those are very serious issues. And I care about those things. To me, JP is pointing to those top capitalist who are using their influence to use propaganda in the media and lobby the government in an effort to create a totalitarian system. I think JP and libertarianism sprang up for this reason. Even JP in his book talks about not being an ideologue about anything. I went through a phase of libertarianism, watched some Milton Friedman material, I felt it was necessary to really understand the effect of individualism, but I also saw its limitations. Which I believe there is an alternative to the capitalism we have now and the communism that happened then. perhaps https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anarcho-syndicalism -

Unfortunately, I'd say you're in the minority I have a Bachelors (2016) and Masters (2018) in Psychology from well-known accredited institutions in NJ. In my whole education there was one professor who taught the historical and modern viewpoints in psychology who mentioned psychedelic mushrooms once during the semester even recommending trying it. One professor said he had heard that psychedelic mushrooms had some benefits, but then followed that with that LSD made you see hallucinations of unicorns. Honestly, most of my professors appeared completely clueless about them, like the most they knew was what was seen from their clinical practice and what they learned from D.A.R.E. Of course, I did not speak to everyone about my interest in psychedelics, only a few teachers who I read were open-minded enough to hear about it, but their focus was in other parts of psychology. In addition, what clinical psychologists experience in their clinical practice is most likely a situation where somebody didn't have enough education or understanding of how to use a psychedelic and then had a awful situation occur. This probably heavily factors about their beliefs about psychedelics. JP may feel its not his role, or that he does not know enough about it to really be a force for it. @Leo Gura You make a lot of solid points. What JP fears is another communism again, as in one man with an ideology being used to make the masses submit. That is a valid concern since it has happened in history and one wants to avoid it. I'm not saying that's what socialism leads to either. JP just tells us about his observation and I enjoy his analysis on the Bible, facism, and psychology of evil, stuff like that. -

Personally I like JP. I won't follow him like a Guru, but I think he is a great at what he does as a Clinical Psychologist. I also own his 12 rules for life and I am about half way done with it. There is a lot of good practical advice, stories, and I chucked several times reading it. I get why people criticize him here, maybe It's still the orange in me, but I appreciate his stern and careful view of life. And in this video regarding psychedelics, I kind of don't think he's wrong. He acknowledges that psychedelics are a very serious experience and even mentions the need of doing purifying rituals before undergoing an experience. We also have to consider that JP has probably seen some shit in his years as a Clinical Psychologist and so very hesitant about glorifying psychedelics especially as an academic. I also agree with Leo that he has a strong fearful personality, but I can appreciate it. -
All of them are worth watching. When I first found Leo, I literally just scrolled through his videos and picked the topics I was interested in until I watched like 75-90% of his content lol. It will take a couple of years. As for what you should watch a young person? Follow your intuition and have an open-mind. Let your curiosity take you to those videos. In addition, get good grades, focus on school, listen to the people around and your teachers with an open-mind. Try to address these conflicts, issues, as well as good times with understanding. Try to grow from everything you encounter. There's so much to learn: physical fitness, nutrition, the game of politics, comparative religion, psychology, biology, physics, music, art, and your own potential to create, love, hate, and fear. It's all worth learning and integrating. Just keep taking it seriously and following your intuition, it will naturally come.

Yeah I wouldn't recommend 5-meo for a first timer. that's some serious shit. Hell I'd say I am a somewhat experienced tripper and would not do 5-meo possibly without a trip sitter after seeing some videos on it.

If it makes you feel any better. I am nervous before all of my trips, I've had many fears of ending up going crazy running in my head, play out bad scenarios of what could go wrong. What ends up happening is: 1. The fear melts away. Tripping takes me into a peaceful place after the initial hump and I am recognize how dramatic and over the top my fears are. 2. It NEVER turns out how you imagine it be. There's a story behind this one. One time, me and a friend were doing 3 drops, I was nervous as heck because it was the strongest dose I'd done and I imagined all these bad scenarios. In the end, it ended up being perfectly fine, helpful, memorable experience. In general, you just want a strong trust in yourself that no matter what, you don't do something dumb like call 911 or anything impulsive, you're going to wait until you ride the whole thing. So you've gotta commit completely. If you get weird thoughts, let them run its course, don't hold on to them, if they bother that much, write it down or don't, but tell yourself you'll address it when your sober or a clearer state of mind.
