Approach to mental health problems but from an alternative perspective

Never have I read a book from a Western perspective, which approaches mental health problems from the fundamental dynamics of thought. Unlike the usual self help generic books that focus on changing or managing the problem thoughts (content), this author is attempting to teach people and help people wake up to the nature of thought itself, and how it creates everything. 

A breath of fresh air to read, I highly recommend.
