Disappearing objects

2 posts in this topic

I would like to describe an experience that happened, and that I can make happen relatively easily given certain conditions.

In a dim room with no artificial (electric) lights, when staring at an object with a blank mind, the object disappears.

For example: if I look at an object hanging on my wall, the object disappears showing only the wall.

Once I refocus or readjust my vision the object comes back.

The object kind of fades out of existence.

Is this me just reaching for a phenomenal experience or is there more to this?

Happens to me too. I think it's called Troxler's fading, it's pretty cool.

"God is not a conclusion, it is a sudden revelation. When you see a rose it is not that you go through a logical solipsism, "This is a rose, and roses are beautiful, so this must be beautiful." The moment you see it, the head stops spinning thoughts. On the contrary, your heart starts beating faster. It is something totally different from the idea of truth." -Osho
