Pretend To Be In A Movie

I believe there is a difference between being aware of yourself and being mindful. 
My definition of mindfulness is when you watch your behavior from the third person perspective without having strong emotional bond on your actions, while awareness is being in the present moment. Maybe I didn't get it, but that's how I see It right now. Then I found this trick when I pretend to be in a movie, suddenly, social anxiety disappears and I stop taking myself and my actions too seriously - Its just a movie(Its just a life). Also, I watch myself doing things and its quite fun as long as I do that thing.
So my question is: Is this OK? Is it helpful or is it a trap?
