Ramana maharshi's self inquiry

4 posts in this topic

Hey!

I gotta recommend the inquiry ramana swored by!

Who am i?

Investigate the I thought.

I have done so for the last week like whole days and im literally expanding my conciousness and iam starting to grow aware that iam not this body or my "head" im behind it and im getting subtle insights that iam the whole screen aswell.

It is cool and insane, I can strongly recommend his practice, you can do it the whole day, a nice thing to combine with meditation

Cheers

To add on this, hold the feeling of "I" as long as you can

Also realize, the I thought is constantly out of reach. Anything that can be recognized as the I thought is not the I thought. The I thought is the assumed-but-nonexistent subject or knower in dualistic perception — it’s constantly out of reach, because any apparent reaching only occurs to the I; it never actually reaches it. So if you feel you caught it, look at what you think you’ve caught, realize it occurs to the I, and refocus on the I. This can be rather distressing since the I can’t actually be focused on, but you work to do so anyway. This refocusing may take place every couple seconds, or even more rapidly, and if it isn’t happening that rapidly, consider: what exactly are you focusing on in the gaps between? It certainly isn’t the I thought, since the I thought cannot be focused on, you are it, in a sense. Questions define limitation/separation. The work to be done in inquiry involves no answers, only questions and their dissolution, unknowing any apparent answers.

@The0Self Exactly and people might realize as well that the I thought is not enough to contain what you are, you see that you are not the ego or the "brain" you are the Self
