Visualizations to become your ideal self

I am wondering-- would it be more effective if I visualize as if I am experiencing in my own body, from my own point of view.? Or "watching" myself, like a bystander looking in? If that makes sense...

I'm not any authority here, but visualizing as if in your own body sounds more realistic and practical.

That was my first instinct. The reason I ask is because in the psychocybernetics book on this, he speaks about how it helps if you try to make it like you are watching a movie.  Maybe he just meant the detail, but I wasnt sure if literally he meant like watching a scene with me in it. Thank you for your reply!
