Where does sense of "beauty" come from?

7 posts in this topic

Most people would call Brad Pitt to be beautiful, but say that Deni Devito looks funny.

But where does this sense of beauty from? From a "scientifically" POV It is absurd that a brain made of dead-matter has a sense of beauty, but most people  posses NOT ONLY a sense of beauty but the things people find beautiful in general are same things, like flowers, mountains, sunsets etc. And things people find ugly mostly also the same, vomit, feces, corpses etc.

What is that universal thing-source that tells humans : "look, you see this... now this is beautiful, alright you got it? ok, However, THIS, this is ugly as heck, you understand? ok, good."

@WHO IS Survival purposes. Vomit, feces and corpses warn of bacteria and death. What you find attractive is usually based on whoever looks the most fit for reproduction. Selective beauty in the end is just ego helping you survive.

"God is not a conclusion, it is a sudden revelation. When you see a rose it is not that you go through a logical solipsism, "This is a rose, and roses are beautiful, so this must be beautiful." The moment you see it, the head stops spinning thoughts. On the contrary, your heart starts beating faster. It is something totally different from the idea of truth." -Osho

So it means that humans are programmed to find certain things beututiful/attractive and others ugly/repulsive for survival bias.

Which would mean that humanity is living their existence unconsciously no?

So a fully conscious person, would be able to see beauty in a vomit as much as in a sunset?

There’s relative beauty and there’s absolute beauty. You can become so conscious you see the beauty in a pile of dog shit.

So, even higher levels of consciousness, and one would eat the dog shit as much with the same level of satisfaction as eating an ice-cream for example?

The body has a native intelligence of its own that steers you away from fucking 90 year old women and eating shit (though some humans do LOL).

It has it’s own programmed preferences to aid it in its survival.

Becoming conscious is not the end of relative beauty. You don’t hang a piece of shit on your wall because it is beauty from the absolute pov.

But the consciousness/mind is not the body. Mind over matter, and the stronger the mind the less the body has its influence/bias on it.

The mind and body are appearances in Consciousness.

You won’t reason your way to this understanding. Awakening to the Absolute is transcendent and won’t be understood through any reasoning of the mind.

Allright, awakening seems to be a high level of truth. Could you tell me why do we exist right now, exactly on earth as an animal-homo-sapien species?

When you love something or someone, you will only perceive the beauty in them. When something or someone is beautiful, you will most likely love them. Of course, this right here is a relative, limited form of love. And it isn't exclusively related to looks.

Beauty is an appreciation of otherness/duality. A dismissal of the self, and a seeking to merge into The Self. A new expression and a fine tuning of a of what once was 'good'. A correlation between good history, safe present, and promising future. An opening to love.

Beauty is the dance between Love and Goodness. Absolute.
