A prophetic dream from two months ago, spurred this research - copied and pasted here.

"I had a really weird dream and I am trying to piece it together and feel that there might be a spiritual war going on behind the scenes.  Here's what the dream was:

*I was living with my parents in a skyrise apartment and it kind of had the layout of Hey Arnold's room.  Me, my mother and father lived there along with my dog, a chihuahua named Lemon.  I went downstairs and took Lemon off leash to go to the bathroom and she ran off down the street.  I went chasing after her and noticed a bunch of other dogs were running towards the same location and their owners were trying to get them.  I grabbed Lemon and she started biting my arm trying to get away to run to wherever the other dogs were.  It is like something took them over.  I hurried past people to get back to the apartment as soon as I could as she was just tearing up my arm.  Then out of the blue this massive wave of crushing weight swept through the city and everyone fell to the ground.  It was like this tingling, heavy, energetically drained experience comingled with a tickling sensation in my gut and fluttering in my heart.  Most people could not get up, but I tried my best to make it back to the apartment.  In my area I was the only one to turn around.  I thought to myself, "is this the government? No, it goes much deeper than that, this is something far more malicious."
I got back to the apartment and noticed that my parents were laying on the ground.  I got the vibe that these things were sapping so much energy it was going to kill everyone.  I went outside and walked down the sidewalk and met a dark female figure and it was telepathic.  It was surprised, angry and dead set on destroying me.  "You shouldn't know what you know.  How did you find this out?"
We started to do energetic battle, and I gathered up a huge amount of spiritual energy and the Kali within me said, "I am the black goddess."  The demon was surprised that she was in me.  My energy pushed it away and my soul started to move through a mental maze with it chasing after me.  I would pretend to take a direction and then go the other way.

I think I was caught because the ending lead with me winning but played upon my egoic need for validation, sex and love from others.  It was like it gave me a false satisfactory ending so that I would feel like the war was over...*

I am reading about demons and the way to remove them is through love because they live on fear."

Here's some more information on this - it's a really good explanation for Maya.  I might check out this rabbit hole for a while longer and see where it leads and come back to this thread if I find anything that might be considered useful.

Kali Yuga - Act 5, auditory representation of the story of the collective shadow

First prophetic dream - about two months ago:

I was speaking with someone on a Shamanic group about the necessity of give and take in spiritual exchanges.  I wanted to know if I could just give a piece of myself for the exchange instead of the other person having to sacrifice anything - pertaining to shamanic work and helping future clients get well.  I came to the conclusion that the best thing to get from them would be a deep, dark secret.  Because I work with Kali, I came to the conclusion that a secret from the ego would be something she might value.  "Tell me a secret."

That night, I had fallen asleep and was dreaming about aspects of my shadow that I find abhorrent and usually avoid thinking about during the day.  I sort of half woke up in the dream because I was feeling very sick.  An entity was surprised that I had woken up to it watching my dream!  It felt humerous about the whole thing, but also not too happy to know that I now knew it was feeding on my shadow, it survives and lives in the unseen aspects of the human psyche and is an intelligent being.  It had thought my conversation earlier from that day was hilarious, "tell me a secret."  It was a secret; it eats, breaths, and lives, and is composed of secrets.  Shadows.  If you think that the aspects of yourself you don't bring to light are not an intelligence, you are mistaken!  If you think the collective shadow is not it's own intelligence, just as the light, you are mistaken.

 It tried to scare me with frightening images of people with black eyes and oil dripping from their mouths.  I turned over, unphased and then my vision/closed eyes began to have the look of an aboriginal painting.  I knew at this moment that this is what interaction with Other was like, beyond the mystical fake bullshit people think they're interacting with and it was intimidating.  I felt so sick.  Then, a bunch of triangular yantras began to swim around in my vision and finally a flash of an ornate pedestal with three orange tigers snarling, each facing a different direction.  I felt better after this and fell back asleep.

My apologies, I'm kind of vomiting information here; it's how I look into topics, and feel that these insights are of value to others.  This man discusses the disease of the mind aspect of shamanism and I find his words very relatable to my experiences.

This demon of the mind - Wetiko, must be what Kali is here for.

I know of this guy's theories. His description of the phenomenon of this wetiko virus (thought form) which he relates back to the mara in buddhism or the archons. He relates his theories a lot to carl jung with his reference to the shadow in the self. The idea of a collective sickness is one of the things he emphasises. 

I reccomend Philip Goddard's self actualization site which presents a few things with some similarities however significant differences too.
