What Do The Icons Mean

I might be a bit of a dummy but what do all the icons mean in this forum. The stars, the green plus signs etc...

The stars are the topics that you have posted in.  And the green and red arrows arewhat you do if you like or dislike a certain post of someones.  And the +1 you have under your non existant profile pic means that one person hit the green arrow on one of your posts.

 I believe it is some type of street credit type of thing for the forum.  Like someone that has tons of those plus sign counts is a smart mofo, or makes really good posts.
