How Meditation Differs From Trying To Fall Asleep

3 posts in this topic

So I started mediating and I I'm thinking it's pretty much the same as trying to fall asleep for me.

i might have a few thought poping up but 85% of the time it's empty, there are no thoughts.

how does this differ from falling asleep ?

And what should happen to me, eventually ? A kind of realisation?

Its just so dead when I meditate, I kind of like the peace but it's gone soon as I open my eyes.

There is a lot of activity in our mind we don't regard as thinking but it is. So things like "My mind is empty and it doesn't feel like anything" is a thought or "This is just like going to sleep, so what's the point?" is a thought. So maybe the thing you call not thinking is full of judging and labeling of what you experience that slips through your awareness.

Okay I see. Now do I become aware of the things I'm not aware of or just do what I'm doing staying in silence and it will fade away ?
