What is character/persona ?

1 post in this topic

I was thinking about this topic, and i realized that when most people talk about racism, what they're really talking about is character/persona. For example if you don't like mexicans, it isn't their ethnicity that you dislike, but their character/persona. There are a mexican character/persona. Now not all ethnically mexican people will have a purely mexican character, some mexicans have a more pronounced american character if they live in america for example. Which is why a lot of what we call racists tell you that they aren't racist because they have a friend from the ethnicity they are talking about. Which is correct, what they dislike isn't the ethnicity but the character/persona. Now most people's characters and personas are a unique mixture of their nationality, ethnicity, subculture, religion, skin color, passions, sexual orientation, life orientation whether they are materialistic or spiritual, social class, education level, intellectual abilities, etc...

Same with homophobia, homophobes do not dislike gays per se, they dislike the gay character/persona. Which is different.

People are comfortable with people who have similar character/persona to them. Which is why a lot of women like gay men, because they both have feminine characters/personas.

I think this is a really deep topic, and very interesting.
