What do you mean by normie? If they are curious, I would already classify them as "not normie". In any case, I would say whatever comes to mind. One line of thinking I like is making somebody try to imagine/remember where they were before they were born. And that that thing before they were born has always existed and will always exist and it's fundamentally what they are, what they always were and what they will always be.

Yes, that's exactly what Emerson is doing, helping people to tap into what's already and always the case.

In my opinion normie probably refers to someone religious or purely scientific. You know the people who think we are nuts.

I have heard other nondual speakers (who also use Emerson's approach) say, that more and more people are somehow coming for one on one's, who have no background in spirituality as such. ie the line of questioning is effective in getting most people to see through the illusionary nature of mind, and thus the sense of a separate me.

But you right, the lines are blurring with the normie definition, because for example so many people are trying psychedelics these days etc.

The one question of Emerson in particular that I like are the Inbetween questions:

What's between doing and not doing, what's between acceptance and rejection, what's between empty and not empty, what's between mind and no mind etc. (He has loads of one on one sessions on his channel, pretty cool to watch minds popping.)

I’ve watched quite a few of Emerson’s videos. He’s amazing to listen to. Thanks for reminding us of the Emerson way. 🙂

He reminds of the phantom nature of all our words and thoughts. If we don’t apply any meaning or association to our words, they can be seen through for there illusory nature, as being nothing more than just the ( sound of sound ) with no specific fixed location existing in a physical objective sense that can be seen or touched. . This (Sound) arises and falls out of consciousness itself, and even consciousness itself cannot know what is being conscious because there is only consciousness alone.

And consciousness alone is the direct immediate recognition of this “not-knowing” KNOWING THIS “not-knowing “ 😲

Isn’t that amazing? 🤩  there’s a knowing that knows this not-knowing. 😱

Behind the imaginary fleeting imagery is the simplicity of this ever present immediate not-knowing presence of beingness, which is all that can be truly known, and this known is always enough. This known is absolutely full to the brim of infinite illumination.

I enjoy listening to Alan Watts as well. This quote by him speaks to me personally. ( “ On Illusion of Isolation: "We do not 'come into' this world; we come out of it, as leaves from a tree. As the ocean 'waves,' the universe 'peoples. “ )

I love how you express things with such clarity, thank you:)

(I find it interesting that most of the radical nondual speakers don't even want to use the word Consciousness. Like Jim will say consciousness is part of the illusion of the sense of a separate me. He describes his experience of life now as: thoughts and feelings arise, but there is no knower of it. Seeing and hearing happens, but there is no knower of it. Even Emerson doesn't want to make a claim either way. One of his questions is: what are you without the awareness of awareness?)

I am curious, how do you view this ?

Are words not random sounds invented and given meaning by someone you never met ?

The meaning of words are not baked into reality.

So is there any real connection between language/thoughts and what seems to be happening.

Or are we just telling each other stories. Maybe there is no nonfiction section in the bookshop.

It depends on who you think The Creator is, in part.

How does that change the fact that all words have been made up ? ie artifical meaning

Exactly. I'll just shut up now😄

Anyway, it’s good to hear your echoes have returned here, I really do enjoy listening to all our ideas that appear as you.

Thanks for showing up again..pen in hand. ✍️

Don’t shut up, be loud, be the greatest sound bite ever told, we’re all just listening to ourselves because it’s a fascination thing.
I think of sound heard as words as a way of entering into a never ending curious fascination for mystery and vibration that stimulates every electron in the body to respond with a jiggly urge to jive to the rhythm of its own beat.

But I’m just a cheesy nerd, and I don’t care, I’m here to let down my hair. Lol 😝

It's just a bunch of hocus-pocus.

I view this as an endless fascination, into the curious nature of the unknown appearing to no one as being the ultimate grand illusion ever known . . This show has certainly got my attention. Even as these shows fade to nothingness, I remain ever present, just waiting for the next performance. 🎭

It's just a bunch of hocus-pocus.

Not sure what you mean ?

I think Emerson is just pointing to the fact that words were created by the human mind. ie the building blocks of thoughts are already just little stories we invented.

A group called Alphabeat… Singing a song titled FASCINATION.

Here’s the lyrics…

Easy
Living,
Killed the young dudes,
In the high boots.
Teenage,
In the pace age,
That's when love burns,
Now it's your turn.

Fascination
Fascination
It's just the way we feel.

Fascination
Fascination
It's just the way we feel. (yeah)

We love this exaltation (woh oh, o-o-oh)
We want the new temptations (woh oh, o-o-oh)
It's like a revelation (woh oh, o-o-oh)
We live on fascination.

Passion,
Is our passion,
In the moonlight,
On a joyride.
Easy
Living,
Killed the young dudes,
In the high boots. (oh yeah)

Fascination
Fascination
It's just the way we feel. (come on)

We love this exaltation (woh oh, o-o-o-oh)
We want the new temptations (woh oh, o-o-o-oh)
It's like a revelation (woh oh, o-o-o-oh)
We live on fascination.

The word is on your lips - say the word
The word is on your lips - say the word
The word is on your lips - say the word
The word is on your lips - say the word
The word is on your lips - say the word
The word is on your lips - say the word
The word is on your lips - say the word
The word is on your lips - say the word
The word is on your lips - say the word
The word is on your lips - say the word
The word is on your lips - say the word
Fas-ci-na-tion!

We love this exaltation (woh oh, o-o-o-oh)
We want the new temptations (woh oh, o-o-o-oh)
It's like a revelation (woh oh, o-o-o-oh)
We live on fascination (o-oh).

I think thats the poetry guy 🙂

Im talking about Emerson nonduality channel on youtube.

See the video in the OP

(watch from minute 6 to around minute 11 to get an idea of how he works with people. Loads of one on one sessions on his channel. It's like radical nonduality 'coaching', for lack of a better word.)
