Lord of the Rings vs. Harry Potter

Harry Potter is truly excellent in terms of making a setting you'd want to live in. I think anyone that's matched it has wanted to go to Hogwarts or even better the university version. I dislike how they base so many shows on kids, anime is guilty of it like 20% of shows are based on high school why can't we all be adults here? More interesting plot lines can be had. 

Lord of the rings I haven't watched in years but it's definitely more epic and has cooler battles. The battle with Voldemort and Harry where the evil dude has a green line coming from his stick and the hero has a red one is pretty lame come on. 

I will rewatch the Lord of the Rings in its entirety as I'm going through most fantasy to find inspo for my own project Legend of the Abyss. I'd be curious what everyone's favorite part about each IP is.

Mine for Harry Potter is clearly Hogwarts. Masterful world building and creating an enticing setting out of thin air.

Lord of the Rings for the epic quest and also honorary mention for elves. Tolkien popularized that trope out of thin air and made them stick in media.
