I use to listen to Spira a lot. And then I kind of went off nonduality teachings for a few years.

Only discovered Newman recently from a post here on the forum.

Something clicked. I actually find his message quite clear.

I'm curious, what do you view as confusing in his message ?

I really don't think he's in this for the money per say.

(He only charges like 10 dollars for his monthly zoom calls, and you can watch the replay for free on youtube.)

Yes indeed, and then there was Leo Hartong’s nondual pointing that said.. Nonduality ,  is the one question to all our answers…. That one’s very good.

Wow, that one kinda stops the mind for a while.

(Leo Hartong, another name I haven't heard of, sometimes feel there might be more awake people around than we think.)

For a 3 day retreat, accommodation and meals included, with a world class teacher, that seems quite reasonable actually.

So, you can't get his message through a zoom call? That's my point, he just confuses people.

I seem to be getting the message just by watching interviews with him on youtube.

But I'm sure a full 3 day retreat creates the possibility to go even deeper.

ie hearing the message from many subtle different angles.

I haven't been to one of his retreats, so I don't really know what it's like.

Why would a retreat reveal more if it's all already quite clear to you?

@Elliott Every time I listen to him, I feel the sense of a separate self unravels some more.

That is what I mean by hearing it from different angles. Each time he seems to say the message in a subtly different way.

But the main message seems quite clear.

You still haven't answered my question tho, is there something specific in the message that you find confusing ?

What does the secondary message mean for you, what secondary message? THAT'S my issue with his confusion.

Right there in my previous paragraph in this reply

@Elliott I think we might be talking past each other at the moment lol.

The message basically stays the same, but he uses slightly different words each time.

That's all I meant by subtle different angles.

Here is an example of 'different' introductions.

Is the main message not completely clear to you?

If it's not completely clear

--that is what I mean by the confusion he causes--

If it is completely clear, why would you go to a retreat or keep studying his "different angles"?

Jim is just taking a very hardcore neo-advaita perspective.

According to Google, Jim and Tony's stuff is classified as radical or uncompromising nonduality.

I'm not that familiar with all the official terms.

I think there's always the possibility to go deeper in a retreat. Why go to any retreat ?

If by completely clear you mean: has Wilhelm died yet, then the answer is no.

(I think it's probably extremely rare to just hear the message once, and then immediately have a permanent cessation of the separate sense of self.)

But intellectually the message is clear to me. And it's definitely effective.

How about yourself, what is it that you don't like about the message ?

@Wilhelm44 I think it is a radical distrust of thought to say what reality is.

Exactly.  He circles back to This, which is the only pointer he really emphasizes.

"This" is all that we are really looking for.

The seeking energy is all that apparently veils "This"

Even the seeking energy already is "This"

The futility of seeking is one of his main pointers.

Aha, I'm sorry, I just didn't understand ur reasoning. You seemed to imply that the fact that he was holding retreats somehow meant that the message was confusing. (That would imply that every spiritual teacher who holds retreats is somehow sharing a confusing message) Retreats are simply an opportunity to go into things in more depth. And to get a real feel for the energy of the teacher in person.
