New vision for education

2 posts in this topic

I'm currently considering building an AI powered online self help education platform that will be centered around humanities and social sciences, focusing on stuff like psychology, sociology, history, politics, political economy, philosophy, etc. The objective of the platform will be to provide individualized learning on subjects within those areas, but also to foster curiosity and critical thinking, to train the user's questioning ability and to facilitate good faith discussions between users. The main focus should be not so much on learning dry facts (even though it will include that too), but on helping the user to learn how to reason, form a coherent worldview based on received information and make sense of reality properly. Basically a training ground for what many of us do here.

What would you want from such a platform? What features would you include? How would you structure it? Any ideas or suggestions?

What I would want from such a platform is:

People who care about and take seriously epistemology. Other people being able to help reground me as the user, in the fact that we are engaging in knowledge or knowing.

A focus on creativity. It would be nice to have something that is really effective and robust for building creative capacity.

Lots of required observation work. Examples include, talking to people as a prerequisite and observing what they say and do. Perhaps a user that is interested in genetics for example might observe a lot of data. Obviously lots of observing one's own thoughts.
