I disagree with this idea, yes we have esteem and belonging needs, but those are different things. we can learn to stop craving social validation and make it internal. What do you think?

Like the seasons so too do people cycle.

When you are obsessed with a hobby, all need for validation disappears.

yeah, but the idea that we are 'dependent' on social validation is wrong, i believe.

What is meaning to say is that internally things will vary.

Subjective.

The self goes through its cycles of need, want, & desire.

A bleak emotional winter?

Yeah I may want some validation.

The idea of dependency is often mistaken for being only gross examples of such.

Dependency may have much more subtle sneaky hues to keep watchful eye after.

I believe validation is the wrong word here, when in a bleak emotional winter, it is connection we need, not validation. and there are so many ways to get connection besides external ways/from others.
Craving social validation is the ego/self image needing to be confirmed and reinforced by others.

Agreed temporarily.

I don't seek validation right now because I am not where I dream to be. So I agree.

Temporarily ~ because when I am where I dream to be I will be recognised so it comes hand in hand.

If you took that recognition away when I am in my dream state would I care, I don't think so because I'd work to get it again so no.

No, I am talking about obsession. Flow state is temporary. Have you been so mesmerized by something that you dedicate your entire life to that thing?
When we dont have something to work towards then only we play social games like validation
