While in later times the Incans formed up an empire, in their earlier history when tribal, I distinctly recall some brutal shit. Human sacrifice was a thing prior to the Incans forming into an empire. Sacrifice was more occasional and smaller in tribal society. When they formed up an empire human sacrifice was rarer in frequency, and more symbolic - but grander & to a HUGE scale.

I also recall reading human sacrifice during the empire was more politically integrated.

Just from my memory alone, tribal society wasn't all peace. I am sure there are more examples. Bit of romanticizing is going on to fill in the gaps where real facts should be....

Fuck Incans got nothing on Aztecs - motherfuckers made cups out of their enemies skulls in a doco I watched. Part of their culture was to slaughter hundreds of people in the name of their respective God. The God ( like Tialoc for rain, Quetzalcōātl wisdom / wind etc ) had to have a certain amount of death / blood for shit like the rain to come. Sun to rise.

They were an empire also though, but these customs arose from tribal traditions originally.

Sounds like peace love and happiness to me 🤣

It is far easier to fool someone, than to convince them they have been fooled.

The thing is, it prolly was a lot more peaceful and lovely than the modern life.
Just cause you make a cup out of your enemies skull doesnt make you evil. What makes you evil is ego.

1k - 20k sacrifices per years empire-wide are the conservative estimates. Let's say it was 5k a year and Aztecs existed for about a century, that makes it 500k in total even with conservative estimates. Huitzilopochtli was seldom hungry
