How do you deal with Dismissive doctor's without lawsuits as a minority?

I have narcolepsy type 1, likely Hashimoto's thyroiditis, ADHD, and I am a Black transgender woman. I figured all of this out myself. The medical system fought me every step of the way.

The short version of a very long story:

In 2021 I had a sleep study at a rehab facility in Pennsylvania while living in upstate New York because that was the only way to get one. The results showed 9 awakenings and pathological sleep architecture. The doctors called it insomnia. I reinterpreted the data myself, cross-referenced it against diagnostic criteria, and identified narcolepsy type 1. Nobody listened.

I was gaslit for years. Sent to psychiatry. Characterized as behaviorally difficult. Banned from a sleep clinic after requesting a prior authorization for the only FDA-approved medication for my condition. Told my symptoms were anxiety, behavioral, psychiatric. The clinical notes called my evidence-based messages "concerning energy" and said they caused my doctor "adrenaline spikes."

I went to NYU. Denied. I went back to Rochester Regional Health after years away and saw a neurologist who took 30 minutes to confirm everything I had been saying since 2021 and prescribe Xywav. 30 minutes.

Meanwhile I had been flagging thyroid instability since 2021. T3 flagged below range. TSH swinging 2.56 points in six weeks. Rising Anti-TPO antibodies. Cold hands. Cold feet. Heat unbearable. Eczema. My mother had hypothyroidism when she gave birth to me. Endocrinology said no issue. Nobody rechecked the antibodies after 2023.

I pulled five years of thyroid data across two health systems this week and identified the pattern myself. Pre-estrogen baseline. Rising Hashimoto's antibody trend. Confirmed T4 to T3 conversion dysfunction. Sent a clinical document to my new provider before the appointment because I always get cut off in the room.

I am now on Xywav and Adderall. Night 2 myAir score was 100 out of 100. The CPAP machine that averaged under 2 hours a night for months under the care of the provider who called me alarming ran a perfect score on night two of the medication she refused to prescribe for 18 months.

I also discovered billing fraud. And filed a 37-count legal grievance. And built a legal intake document. And sent the podcast folder link to my dismissing doctor's own portal and she read it for 11 days before banning me five minutes after I called to ask for T3 labs.

My goal now is simple. Get Hashimoto's treated with T3. Remove Adderall and Sunosi as Xywav reaches therapeutic dose. Wait for oveporexton to replace the missing orexin signal directly. Keep estrogen and progesterone. Done.

I solved everything myself. Every diagnosis. Every medication argument. Every lab interpretation. Every legal count.

Doctors refused to do their jobs so I learned their jobs.

If you are Black, native American, trans, neurodivergent, or all three and the system keeps telling you that you are the problem, go back to first principles. I even had my mychart muted because I wrote truths backed by my data the provider refused to engage with. She has onky been in practice for 2 years. But still even some others who are "experienced" were fucking stupid as fuck. I wrote dossier over 200 pages to them and they still didn't get it. Met every symptom even a 3:48 minute sleep latency average. It is insanity.

The hardware was always telling the truth.

They just refused to read it.

If anyone else has delt with the Hashimoto's part how do you treat this and does treatment help? Anyone have similar experiences?

I have Hashimoto's.

May I ask what you have been formally diagnosed with by external medical professionals?

It is far easier to fool someone, than to convince them they have been fooled.

My dad has Hashimoto's and I experience some thyroid issues from time to time but this post makes sense https://sacredascensionmerkaba.com/2026/01/26/the-spiritual-and-emotional-roots-of-hashimotos/

Also had this written down somewhere.

Hypothyroid. Underactive thyroid

Hypothyroidism affects mostly women.  There is generally a stuck feeling with a tendency (but not always) to put on weight and feel depressed, tired and a decrease in mental and physical activity, together with low body temperature.  A kind of emotional hibernation.  They are afraid of taking over their lives, taking charge. and stepping forward to what they want.  In doing so can lose out in happiness, health and prosperity.  This may have come when finding it difficult to ask for things as a child and eventually giving up.  This can be made worse by a lack of forgiveness for those who held you back.  Because of that lack of movement, a great deal of unexpressed frustration and resentment can build and turn inwards.

Hyperthyroid. Overactive thyroid

Whereas the underactive thyroid type may feel inactive, the hyperthyroid type can be too busy expanding energy outwards, resulting in an increase in thyroid activity.  It is difficult to slow down and there will be a tendency to take over other the lives of those you love as well.  In doing so you do not prioritize your own life.  There is a strong need for validation from others, especially by those close to you.  You have high expectations for yourself and others, together with rage at being left out.  The result is a speeding up of bodily activity, causing irritability, weight loss, excessive perspiration and weakness.

I find chanting, singing, expressing my voice / truth more and helps circulate build up of energy. If god gives you the charge and you don't use it, it becomes a dis-ease eventually to wake us back up to who we are and what we truly came here to do than work a 9 - 5 job.

This is my overall recognition of it all as there always seems to be a clash within reality when I suppress / limit my truth / true/full expressions.

Truth expressed is medicine, truth withheld eventually becomes poison. Another perspective ?
