Heavy metal chelation journal

2 posts in this topic

I am starting a journal for my chelation journey, mainly for the purposes of documentation as well as if anyone has any questions or wants to follow along.

*Nothing I ever say is medical advice, you are 100% responsible for everything in your life. Also, no level of these toxic metals is safe, so disregard reference ranges and green zones in the test results. And take into account that this is a provoked test but only over a period of hours, this does not account for what is stored in bones (most lead is), the brain, other organs and tissues etc.

I just did a provoked urine test for 9 hours in length taking 2000mg of dmsa spread throughout the period. I understand there are other ways to do the test such as take a bunch of dmsa at once then collect for 6 hours. This is just how I chose to do it. (Test is attached below, turns out I am moderate to high in lead and mercury.) Mercury is probably understated though because Dmsa has a high affinity for lead and not so much for Mercury so if I provoked with dmps I know Mercury would have been higher.

Background:

-25 yr old male, 170lbs, using dmsa, dmps and Ala. (Dmsa and Ala or Dmps and Ala rounds.)

-I had a few amalgam (Mercury) fillings put in as a child/teen. I got them removed in 2020 but the issue looking back was there was nothing in the air to catch all the fumes. (I just wasn’t aware of a better way.) It was done improperly. I tasted the metal in my mouth. I found a dentist later on that is trained in this throughly (rare but is possible) and she took x rays of everything and said if there is any mercury left that they missed it would show up as small white specs and she would get it out safely. None showed up, she said I am good to go.

-I grew up drinking tap water, sometimes quite a bit of junk food, was around some soldering/construction, went fishing a bit (I remember tasting a sweet metal when I was fishing a few times, looking back it was due to handling sinkers and lures that contain lead and eating and drinking without washing my hands while fishing,)

-I also moved into a house built in 1958 in 2015, previous house was built in 2000 so probably no lead pipes) but this house I suspect has lead piping or at least lead soldering as well as lead paint on the walls and doors that are frequently used. Main door is scratched and scuffed a lot which could be producing lead dust.) my next step is to test the paint for lead in my house tomorrow.

-I also shot guns here and there as a kid with lead bullets, as well as played in the dirt a lot, drank from questionable hoses, vaped heavily for a period of time 2 years, smoked tobacco a handful of times etc. Also ate a decent amount of tuna, salmon, sardines, clams etc. Which I basically refuse to eat now. Only the purest fish oil I can buy.

Last thing I will say is that I got really into supplements when I was 18 and I was taking lots of vitamins and minerals in order to improve myself and my workouts. One thing I started taking everyday is alpha lipoic acid in 600mg doses 1-2x daily and sometimes more. I also at the same time had amalgam fillings. I began to feel like I was losing my mind, became very angry and unstable, anxious and depressed etc. and I only found out later when Leo released the heavy metals video that that is a horrible idea. (I had no idea what heavy metals even were at that point.) Those effects could have been stemmed from other things I was going through at the time but looking back I think alpha lipid acid was a contributor to some degree.

So whatever you do, don’t do that!

Round 1:

-I took 200mg of Dmsa and 50mg of Ala every three hours. Started Thursday and ended Sunday. This is what I want my rounds to look like every week. Goal is to do one round per week, 4 days on, 3 days off.

-Beginning at 7am (first dose), then every three hours until 10-11pm at night. So 6 doses per day. I will not be waking myself up at night to take a dose or two. I am willing to accept the risk of redistribution or whatever in order to lock in a steady sleep rhythm as my sleep has been severely dysfunctional for years. I choose more sleep over more doses. I know I can tolerate missing a couple doses at night but I can’t tolerate waking up during sleep 4 days a week. (YMMV)

-(supporting supplements) I take one large dose of an assortment of pills each morning usually shortly after my first dose containing, zinc, magnesium, selenium, vit c, k2, nattokainise, lutein, vit d, l theanine, b complex and sometimes a pure fish oil although I avoid the fish oil on days when chelating. Not all of those supplements are needed for chelation but they are things I take everyday anyway so I down it all in one go. On off days I do not take selenium, zinc, magnesium and b complex.

*One thing I learned is to not supplement with vitamin e if you can avoid it because it can cause a quicker death basically is what I have found, apparently it isn’t good to go over 400iu per day so I just skip it altogether and focus on eating almonds and other foods naturally high in vit e. Also focusing on consuming lots of dairy in order to get the calcium needed as I do not want to take calcium pills.

-I started off the first day with the Dmsa-only provoked test and then rolled into my round. I found it pretty fatiguing and I felt like a zombie, headaches, lightheadedness etc, it was tough but I know it was doing something to release the metals. My urine also smells, but that is normal.

-I thought about starting rounds without Ala at first but I decided to start with Ala because I want to take a more aggressive approach and will back off if I feel I need to.

-Side effects were noticeable throughout the whole round but I did have a distinct moment on the second or third day of feeling amazing for a few hours. Felt like a fog had lifted and I had more energy than usual, I also wanted to socialize a bit more which I take as a good sign. I think it was the Ala. One side effect to note is that I was experiencing quite a bit of heart burn which has been uncomfortable. But I heard it is somewhat of a normal side effect and hopefully it isn’t anything more serious.
