Russia Patents Space Station To Generate Artificial Gravity

6 posts in this topic

How is this anything new? This design has been around for 80 years.

In order for this spinning design to work it must have an enormous diameter. It doesn't work at small diameters.

The problem is it will be too expensive to build. Once they realize the cost is crazy, they will scrap the project.

Or it can spin really fast

Also the gravity doesnt need to be 1g, it can be less than that of earth to save cost. Artificial gravity is going to help astronauts in more ways than 1. It is the future of space exploration

No it can't because if the diameter is too small the difference in gravity at the astronaut's feet vs head will make them dizzy and sick.

Very large diameter is required to make this thing feel more than just a merry-go-round.

Imagine living on a merry-go-round for a month. You would go insane. The gravity needs to feel very consistent and even. That the challenge with these designs. Earth's gravity feels so even because Earth has such a huge diameter.
