Life purpose contrast, war journalist vs joining the russian military

2 posts in this topic

I want to showcase two men's differing but similar lives. Two westerners who are now part of the Ukraine war conflict and tied it to their life purpose.

is a 29 year old independent journalist who moved to Kiev from London in mid 2024 and has been working as I believe a fully independent war journalist there

I found out about the 2nd man Derek Huffman from Caolan and Derek is also is a western expat but is an american who moved himself and his family from Texas to Russia to escape the degenerate neoliberal west and decided to join the Russian Military.

I think this is one of the best examples of life purpose according to spiral dynamic stages that I've ever seen. We have a stage green british man who decides to use his time and platform and risk his life to go report on the war. We have a similar man who believes it his duty to take his family and escapes the degenerate west and embrace christian ideals and thus moves them to Russia and enlists in the military, which offers foreigners full citizenship for themselves and their family for 1 year of service in the military. Fascinating display of banal evil and corruption at work.

I'm very proud of Caolan Robertson as what he's doing is risky and he seems to be succeeding through it as a bootstrapped entrepreneur. It inspires me to use my life and energy and make an impact as well.

I currently am in Russia. I’m a USA citizen. I married my wife here last autumn (she’s from here). We are moving next year when all documents are in order (we both don’t consider this a safe place to live long term). Here’s my take as a stage yellow wizard.

First off the Ukrainian journalist guy kinda has a cope take. Unfortunately Russia is waging a war and for most people life in unchanged here. If the general population felt more accountable and had to pay a larger price I do believe there would be more of a push or some internal opposition to waging this war and Putin would probably be more open to negotiation. Life in Russia is dysfunctional and dystopian for sure but surprisingly if you keep your head down you can live a fairly safe and relatively decent life materially if you make smart choices. Coming here is not particularly dangerous as a western foreigner. It’s different for Africans or people from poor countries who may get tricked into signing a military contract. Yes, it’s true that life here especially minorities and the financially poor are treated like dirt. Just coming here though isn’t comparatively dangerous to most other places and doing your documents here is a pain but I can’t say carries major risks compared to say the USA or China.

The second guy is the reason why I don’t associate with foreigners from the west that come to Russia. Most of them are brain-rotted stage blue baptists who project their stage blue shit onto another country and claim they are the same. Russian stage blue is very different from USA stage blue and this guy is going to find all sorts of hoops to jump through about how that isn’t a problem while back in the USA he would throw a fit if Dems did 10% of what Russia does to their citizens. The thing they share is they both don’t like gay people. That’s about it. Even orthodox is different from right winger Baptist if they were smart enough to compare them. They both can relate on hating on gays though. This guy is honestly a fool. He is completely fucked if he ever goes back to the USA, serving in the Russian army could have long term consequences and he could definitely be prosecuted for that if the right justice department is in office.
