Nomore Sugar Baby!

33 posts in this topic

Ok, here it goes, my 90 days no sugar diet!!!

I am specifically talking about no simple sugars such as the ones found in a lot of processed foods, chocolates, ice cream, baked goods, waffles, etc...

I am relatively healthy person all though I have noticed I am gaining weight (probably because my metabolism is slower now that I am getting older, hence, it can't keep up with my sugar addiction). I weight 90 kg, but I am slim. Most of it is muscle. I exercise regularly. However, my problem areas are my belly and my ass. And I just want to feel better in general.

Since starting meditation, I have been able to get a handle on (in order of addiction strength):

5. Coffee

4. Alcohol

3. Cigarettes

2. Video Games

1. Porn

Now come the hardest things to rodeo. My addiction to sweets. And my addiction to entertainment (anime and movies).

I am going to start with sweets. I still have my fructose dose in the morning (fruit shake), so what I am really interested in is beating out refined sugars out of my system.

Will keep you updated if you're interested to follow.

Thanks guys <3

So, I come to my first day completion of no sugar. I was feeling pretty salty in my mouth throughout the day, and I reconciled that with some all natural peanut butter dipped with a banana. The peanut butter only had 1 g of sugar per tablespoon. And let's remember, the WHO's recommendation is 6 spoons or 25 grams per day.

In the evening, my grandmother had a glucose meter handy on her, and I tried it on myself, and scored a 6.7 blood sugar level. That's pretty bad considering the normal range is within 4.0 and 6.0. I don't want to become a diabetic, so I am hoping this lifestyle change will be sufficient enough to get my health to optimal level.

I may or may not update daily. I think daily reports don't really count, do they? I think it speaks louder if you do a weekly report. Hey, if you lasted a week, that's something to be proud of. A day..........hmmm not so much.

@faith No, but some fruits are really tasty, and almost as good as sweets.  Like mangos, blueberries...  mmm.
Also, maybe if the new habits is hard for you, you can give yourself a cheat day once a week.  I've been giving myself cheat days when I visit my family twice a month so that this new diet doesn't get too bland.

It's not too bad. I've been having bloating, diarrhea, and nausea, but overall, I think I can handle the no sugar thing. How's it going with you?
