What You Do Instead Of Meditation?

Find things you do or enjoying doing that keep you actively engaged and more present with the task at hand, rather than multi tasking / overthinking.

Like going for a walk; simply go for a walk, don't bring a phone or headphones to listen to music, but learn to listen to nature, use your eyes, nose, senses and embrace the fullness of whatever it is you are doing.

When you eat, don't scroll or watch tv or do anything else, just eat and enjoy the meal fully, close your eyes, embrace the flavours and textures, and can be done this way, everything really, daily chores, exercise, shower, even watching a movie. This is a form of meditation in itself.

There are many examples of being mindful and it really means being fully present with the moment or task or activity at hand and engaging fully.

The Dog here is a good example of being Mindful :)

how can we balance making plans and staying present?

atm i find myself in a phase in my life where i need to redirect and make up my mind about what's next. i have a tendency to be quite anxious and realise that sometimes my attempts to think of constructive plans end up being toxic as they gravitate more toward worrying rather than creating.

how can i balance making room for both presence and inspirational, future-oriented thinking without ending up ruminating and feeling bad?

Just don`t plan far too ahead. Anxiety often is cured with action. Just act on your plans

I contend that meditation is indispensable. If you skip, you are kowtowing to ego's agenda. You are choosing delusion. I mean yes the goal of meditation is the dropping of meditation. But that means you are always in awareness so you don't need to sit quietly for a set period.

However I find reading certain books meditative. In such a case, it matters not if you read one sentence or one chapter. It feeds the spirit and equips you to live the dream as a dream.

Presence my friend, its all about being presence and being fully engaged in life.

Don't forget the Buddha > middle way is the lived human life fully.

Hey, If i am being honest, its a bit alien for me. I don't really make plans or think about the future, i live very intuitively, moment to moment.

I occasionally get a spark to go somewhere and do something and follow up. I do have some ideas of an "ideal future", but i don't really cling to such ideas as much anymore, rather i focus on my basic needs and whats around me and trust the flow of life as it naturally unfolds.

I find this way of living always leads me exactly where i need to be, even though sometimes it may not always be what we think is ideal or needed. I feel i was heartbroken too many times having high hopes and expectations, so I let all that stuff go and learned to find peace in simply being and living in accordance to my true nature.

Not sure if this answered your question properly, or if i understood correctly either, but thanks for asking :)

I'm only on earth for one reason my dear friend - to save myself time. If I am not sitting, I am taking the dream too serious.
