Career dead end what to do next?

3 posts in this topic

I’m 34 and currently facing a career dead end as an SEO specialist. I don’t see how I can grow further in this field, especially with the rise of AI and Google’s recent updates. I transitioned from an accounting career to digital marketing and SEO five years ago. I was working in a company, but for the past six months, I’ve felt like there’s not much left for me to do or learn in this role.

Around ten years ago, I had a strong interest in writing stories and making short films. However, ever since I began practicing meditation and working on self-actualization, that interest has faded. Occasionally, I still feel inspired to write and consider becoming a scriptwriter, but nothing substantial comes from it. I struggle to come up with good story ideas, and trying to sit down and brainstorm often feels stressful. I usually end up watching YouTube or distracting myself with something else instead.

Sounds like you at least have some emotional blocks around this, that's making it stressful to the point of avoidance. You should sit with the issue and try to get to the bottom of it. I'm sure it would take some time and emotional labor to figure out properly though, so be ready.
