I remember when I was going through a really hard time a few years back, I'd ask myself when I was really struggling: 'What do I need in this moment?' Because I came to realise that I'd gotten into the habit of neglecting my own needs, though it took for me to be in a really bad way before I understood that. Just asking yourself the question can help you to become more aware of your needs.

Preach, sister

@Charlotte It really is ??? Almost feels overwhelming at times, it makes me think of a line out of 'American Beauty': I guess the key is to know that we are this beauty, that it's not something that's apart from us

This is amazing, thank you so much for sharing ?

@Marcel 'Je suis un table' - I mean, do you really need any more French than that? ?
-
@Preety_India Nein! I learnt French at school! (I don't really know French either ?)
-
@Preety_India Oh but Preety, you haven't lived until you've eaten a Chilli Heatwave Dorito, they're da bomb!

I'm so, so sorry to hear that, my love ? I love you so much, my darling, take really good care of yourself - there's no rush to do anything at times like this if you don't feel like it, be really kind to yourself ?
-
@Gianna Wowwww... I don't think I'd have ever interpreted the song as a message from my inner child, but that makes so much sense to me, I love that! It's devastatingly beautiful when you put it like that... Sounds like the universe is speaking to you loud and clear at the moment, darl, and the nice thing is that you're available to hear it

Yes! I think so too, that's such a lovely moment ? And such a lovely song, too! Reminds me of when I was having a really hard time, I was walking down the street one day and this guy's blasting music out of his car, and I hear this one line: 'These wounds are all self-imposed, life's no disaster' (from a song called 'Waltzing Along', by the band James who I absolutely love). It was like the universe was giving me a sorely-needed reminder

I think this is key, yeah. I can completely relate about the feelings of intense guilt and shame, I felt that after an ex had a complete breakdown when I ended the relationship, I ended up blaming myself for it and getting back in touch with her out of guilt - and it just made things worse in the long-run, I just ended up hurting her even worse, and then I felt even more guilty and ashamed. So it became a vicious circle, and I resolved never to make the mistake of acting from a place of guilt ever again, because I'd seen that it just made things worse. It can seem so hard to resist those guilty impulses though, so I really do feel for you ? I think just reminding yourself that you aren't responsible for this guy's well-being and trusting that he'll be all right without your intervention is important. Boy, though, working through those feelings was tough... they can run so deep, and there can be so much pain underneath them. Maybe it was worse for me because I'm a guy and, as you say, we do tend to bottle these feelings up so much. But you're strong, Gianna, so I know you'll be fine ?
